Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Stay The entrance to the hotel was average, clean and orderly. When we got off the elevator we were met with a hallway extremely hot. When we got in our room, it was cramped, and poorly decorated. The lamp shades did not cover the light bulbs (bright white compact fluorescent) and hurt my eyes when I looked at the lamps. It was very "tacky". The room too was extremely hot. We eventually turned the HVAC system completely off when we went to bed. The beds were terrible and we had a miserable night. I usually stay at Holiday Inn Express whenever I can but this experience was horrible. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. January 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A warm welcome on a cold night We stayed At the Holiday Inn Express in Flagstaff as a stop over on our long trip. The front desk representative was VERY nice and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The amenities were great - even got 2 free bottles of water (where as on our stay at a different and more expensive hotel they were charging 5$ per bottle). The breakfast was satisfactory, our girls enjoyed the little pancake machine. We would definitely stay again if we go through Flagstaff. January 15, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by tiny elevators and no hot water There was a broken boiler when we were there so we were advised to not take showers at all, or take very short showers. As a result, we didn't go swimming. The elevators were tiny and we waited 20 minutes the morning we left, just trying to get on to check out. Very uncomfortable with luggage. January 10, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by as expected of holiday inn express chain. no surprises. Easy access off the freeway and excellent staff service made for a tension free stay. The breakfast was good, fresh and adequate and one of the staff made me a coffee to go as we were heading to Grand Canyon. January 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service Thank you for your token of added points. We enjoy being recognized as a value customer upon our arrival and it means alot when traveling so far from home and greeted with kindness. Thank you also for great parking space. Traveling with a UHaul and towing a car and an added pickup truck is very difficult to find safe parking space. I should have mentioned I have a disability and the bed was too high but it was very confortable. January 8, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Sorry, No Hot Water My family ventured to Flag to take our kids skiing for the first time. Mind you, the dates we stayed were surrounding New Year's Day celebration so forward planning were essential. Upon our arrival, we were informed that BOTH boilers in the hotel were on the fritz and would be worked upon, with an attempt to get them online the next day. We made sure the kids took advantage of hot water that evening (not hot but at least warm) followed by no hot water for the next two days. Manager Chuck's feedback, included in a one-page handout to all patrons, was that the boiler problem was not their fault but if we felt inconvenienced, the hotel would gladly "allow" us to find rooms elsewhere. Right, on New Year's eve and New Year's day. No consideration on the room rate and no "sorry about that" at check out. Not even for a lowly Priority Club Member. Wow. Guess where I'm not staying next time we're in Flagg (since we bought season lift tickets while we were at Snowbowl)? January 7, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by old and needs updating ThIs hotel was the most expensive of your trip and this was an out of date styling and with this age their hot water boilers broke down and we had no hot water for a showers - we did have an adjustment on my bill - but because of the price and experience I will not recommend or visit this location again January 7, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A very good experience A very nice place to stay. Really enjoyed the indoor/outdoor swimming pool. January 6, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Aging hotel needs updating We stayed one night and the hotel and room was okay but certainly not up to standards. The heater was noisy. There was no hot water to shower with. At breakfast, there was a crowd so some of the breakfast items were out. I discussed this with the front desk staff and was told I would receive extra points on my Priority Club account. It's 10 days later and the points have not been added. January 5, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor quality of property and impossible to use the pool We stayed at HIExpress Flagstaff just one night and we were upset by the condition of the hotel. Not only it is quite old and would need better care, it is also quite poorly maintained. The pool was cold although they advertised a heated pool. The hot tub was ok but it is outside and we had to walk on the snow to get there (no path available). We were sleeping in a double queens with sofa beds and we actually had to unfold the sofa and put the sheets ourselves! January 4, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very disappointing experience Checked in, spoke to Clint at the front desk. He said the rooms were nice, but the beds were hard. Checked in, went to room. Rooms are old, shabby and in need of repair. A/C - Heat unit was very loud. Bed was not just hard, but old. Room was not up to Holiday Inn standards. Internet did not work well, had problems logging on. Long lines at breakfast bar, seating in the conference room. Went to takea shower, no hot water. Went down and complained to front desk, they said theboiler was broken, but they were working on it, beds are being replaced in 11 months from now and hotel is due for a remodel, which is great, but that does not help now. I complained to Clint, same guy who checked me in, but he said he was sorry for hard beds, no hot water and problems with the internet, but there is nothing he can do. I won't be back to this Holiday Inn ever again. January 2, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Well done, Flagstaff Overall, staff was pleasant and personable. Room was clean and well-appointed, comfortable and most importantly, quiet, as we had been on the road for over a week and needed to rest. December 16, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Property, but.... We checked in late with a priority club reservation. Clerk at front desk checked me in without a smile or without looking at me. I felt like she was just raising her voice at me, like I was doing something wrong or I was deaf, "Credit card and ID please!" NO thank you or even a good evening. Yes we were given water, but that was about it. In the morning, another clerk and still no smile or even a good morning. No explanation was given as to why my keys did not work in the morning even though I had a late check out. The host and server at breakfast were the same way. Unfriendly and distant. Food was okay. Breakfast area was clean. Room was clean. Beds are not that comfortable. Its rare that I have to stay in Flagstaff at all. I stayed here before and had the same experience. Still see nothing has changed. I could have paid less than half the price and stayed at nearby hotel and gotten the same service or even better. You don't feel welcomed at HI. Nearby hotel doesn't have a warm breakfast, but at least the clerks told me good morning, when I got coffee. December 3, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and quiet This was our last night in a hotel after a long road trip. It completely lived up to what we have come to expect in Holiday Inn Expresses. Welcoming staff, clean rooms and common areas, comfortable beds, nice fluffy towels,... For future stayers - eat at Black Barts for dinner. You will LOVE it! December 2, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice except for the heating system Everything was great except for the heating system which was noisy and sucked all the moisture from the air causing difficulty with sleep. November 28, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Services cut back I stayed over Thanksgiving and was asked to cut back on my room cleaning sevices due to the cut back of employees because of Thanksgiving. I said OK, but felt if I did not - well it would not be a good thing. I think they should have a full stff for the Holidays or give us a cut rate. Other than that it was OK, Oh yea coffee pot leak water and when they replaced it you would have thought they would have given more coffee since they were not cleaning the rooms. November 28, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Rooms are small and the walls are thin Basically the title says it all. The rooms are overpriced (probably due to the closeness of the Grand Canyon) for the size and the walls are way too thin (older Holiday Inn Express). The king size bed was firm. I could hear the inhabitants through the walls so easily. What I don't understand is that they didn't have many people staying the night we were there, but instead of spacing us out... we had someone on both sides of us. Our room and bathroom was very clean and updated. The breakfast hostess was very nice. November 27, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by tripl a discount employee said there was a AAA discount He had me initial rate without discount Said he would give said discount "later" Did not receive discount.....that is terrible November 27, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not that great I'm usually very happy staying at Holiday Inn Express, but this location is really subpar. I've stayed here a couple of times on business and both times at least 2 of the cardio machines (there are 4# in the fitness room have been broken. The bedsheet also had a pretty suspicious stain on it, which grossed me out. I didn't use the pool, but it looked pretty uninviting. Also the front desk staff who checked me in were pretty unfriendly and not very helpful. My room key didn't work at first so I went downstairs to get it fixed. They didn't apologize or anything, but swiped the card and sent me back up again. The card still didn't work, so I again lugged my suitcases downstairs to the front desk. I feel like I was pretty cool about it, but the staff was just really unfriendly. They acted like I was inconveniencing them. It turned out that the batteries in the door lock were dead, so they had me wait for maintenance to fix it. No apologies were offered or anything. I thought it was pretty lame for them to be so grumpy because usually I have really good experiences with Holiday Inn. On the positive side, the rooms are comfortable and breakfast is pretty good #same as most other Holiday Inns#. I should also mention that the guy working the breakfast area was very polite, friendly, and helpful #he took people's empty plates to the trash for them). I travel to Flagstaff a lot and I think I'll be staying somewhere else next time. Maybe I'll even try the Holiday Inn in Williams, AZ. November 20, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Good service, fair facility Property is older than many Holiday Inns, and the rooms are small. Strangely, the outdoor hot tub doesn't get above luke-warm temperature. Staff is very friendly and helpful, and breakfast food selection is good. November 17, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very nice room and great breakfast holiday inn is always a good option and this one didn't disappoint. the room was very nice and comfortable with a modern flat screen tv with plenty of channels. the breakfast was really good - lots of choices and good quality food. the cinnamon rolls were especially a nice surprise. if the need arises, this will definitely be a place we stay again. November 16, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by My First Week Over all I was happy with this Holiday Inn. I have stayed in many of them through out my life. The food was an AWESOME bonus during my stay. Having a Mircrowave and Fridge was very helpful as well. The only things I would recommend is removing the carpet in the hallways. It smelled horrible! I also would of liked the exercise equipement placed or turned toward the TV on the wall. The rooms need to have more outlets to plug in cell phones and computers as well. November 10, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by No Acknowledgement for Priority Club Members The hotel did not have our priority # at check in and the reservation was made on the Holiday Inn Website for Priority Members. We were never acknowledged at Priority Club Members, were not offered an upgrade, no Priority Club package even after we gave them our priority # (their computers were down and we had to look up our number on our phone). The staff did not seem to care that we were priority club members and did not apologize. We will never stay at this hotel again mostly because of the staff's attitude. November 10, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Motel is dated Rooms are outdated, Whole motel needs new carpet. Beds were comfortable. Rear exit door worked going out but card would not let you back in. (Motel personnel were notified, but nothing was done about the problem.) November 7, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Succesful Rehab We were delighted to see the improvements and renovation of the the property which we have stayed at for over ten years. Staff were very helpful and accomodating. The only complaint we had was that the baggage carts were old and rickety and needed replacement. We also miss the restaurant which used to be very good and better than the chain restaurant across the parking lot. Keep up the good work. October 27, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not the best Holiday Inn I've been at but still a good deal. The rooms were tired looking and smelled old with TERRIBLE pillows. The night staff were friendly enough but acted bored and unenthusiastic about having a job. I stay at Holiday Inns everywhere I travel and it was a "good" overall experience because after all it's a Holiday Inn and you can't do better for the price and what is given, but this one was not one of the better ones. If I had been charged too much more to stay there I would have been VERY unhappy. October 25, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT PLACE TO STAY NEAR THE GRAND CANYON FINE EXPERIENCE, SOME INTERSTATE TRUCK NOISE BUT NOT THAT DISTRACTING, WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN October 23, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Large Facility, nice rooms We stayed here on our way out to our trip to Colorado and on the way back. Both times the room was clean and comfortable. Nice size room accomodated 3 adults and our luggage. Breakfast was fresh and hot. Nice choices of creamers for coffee lovers and sugar free hot chocolate for dieters or diabetics. Lobby has a selection of souveniers. Small gift bag for Priority Club Members was nice. Elevarors are rather small. October 23, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Elevators Very nice motel, only problem is they only have 2 very small elevators. Had to wait almost 15 minutes to take luggage from 2nd to 1st floor at check out. October 21, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding Service - comfortable bed & room We had driven to Flagstaff for Triumfest and although we would be staying at Little America the Host Hotel for the event. We arrived a day early and could not stay at the host hotel so we tried Holiday Inn Express. The weekend would be packed with events and we knew it would be quite inconvenient to check out of one hotel at noon, cross the street and have to wait 3 or 4 hours to checkin to our room at the host hotel.for the car show. I called the front desk to request late check out and the staff put me in touch with a supervisor who did everything to make a late check out possible for us.The Host hotel allowed us a slightly early checkin and the transition was simple. We were able to get into Triumphest activities that we would have missed by waiting. We travel often and rarely have I had such awesome Customer Service as from your staff in Flagstaff.! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone... Thanks again for being a part of our great weekend in Flagstaff Larry & Pat October 14, 2012
