We decided to spend the night at your hotel. We were very impressed with everything--comfort, cleanliness, décor, food, newspaper, and business services such as faxing and copying. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Can you say "Customer Service?" I have always know Holiday Inn Express to be consistent and friendly. This stay was far from friendly. The team at this hotel needs some training in how to smile at least. I stayed at this hotel twice in a month's time frame. Both times I was locked out of the hotel - not able to check in. The first time signs directed us to go in the back door only to find a locked door and a desk clerk that only could say "I don't know why they direct people there - I can't see that door!". 2nd stay - desk clerk not at front and no response to the door bell. We arrived by tow truck after midnight due to a car accident. (I was not planning on staying in Flagstaff again). I could see her in the back office area but had to call the hotel so she would let me in. Front desk clerks in the morning as well as the AGM had no personality and looked at me as if I was bothering them, did not make me feel welcomed at all. I was shook up from the accident, however they offered no sympathy, no hospitality at all. Two names were listed on the wall for breakfast attendants on duty, however we only saw them once when they came to fill food up. No hello's, no cleaning of tables, etc. Floors in that area were filthy. Now for the room. It is apparent that renovations are going on. Nice furniture - however I had to pull out a wad of hair and caps to shampoo bottles from the drain in order for my kids to take a bath! Gross. The inside of the trash cans were dirty when I removed the trash bag. (just because you put in a trash bag doesn't mean you don't have to clean the inside. Bathroom vent and hairdryer vents dirty/dusty. Shower curtain liner was brown in comparison to the actual curtain! Microwave was missing from the room?! Wall thermostat not working so no way for me to know what temp we had the room at. Door was not self closing (security issue) plus lots of doors open in the same hallway. I believe they were ones that were being worked on and just forgot to lock up at the end of the day. Anyhow didn't make this mom traveling with 3 kids safe at all!! July 21, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Bad Experience I do NOT recommend this hotel! The staff was rude, the pool was never open and construction made it difficult to get in and out of hotel. I purchased two rooms for family at this location and was very disappointed. Typically I am happy at a Holiday Inn Express but from check-in through the whole stay I was disappointed. I understand remodeling but it would have been nice to have been notified that this was underway as I had other hotel options. July 20, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Internet .33 to .38 mps. Unacceptable At night during peak hours of 8:00 to 10:00 pm the internet speed was extremely slow. I am sure this was due to multiple users but the hotel should have enough bandwidth to supply it's guests with high speed connections if that is what is advertised. Also, this hotel was more expensive than much better properties. I was pressed for time while driving so I didn't have time to shop. Usually a HIE is reasonable. Next time and town they will not be my first call. July 19, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Great Hotel, But We Got Skipped I have stayed at this hotel multiple times--it is an excellent HI Express, and undergoing renovations to make it even better. Excellent breakfast choices, and courteous staff. Only this time, for whatever reason, no one cleaned our room, and even though it was only 5:20pm when we reported that fact, we were told that no one could clean our room that late in the day. Really? That surprised me. An adjustment to the bill was promised by the desk manager that afternoon, but come morning no adjustment was made at all. So I had to go down and plead my case to a different manager, who knew nothing of my complaint the day before (wouldn't that be a good thing to note on my account?). Fortunately he believed me and took $ off the bill. First time that has ever happened (not cleaning the room) and hopefully the last time, or I may have to look for other lodging on this regular Flagstaff business trip. July 19, 2014

Although the staff, with the exception of check in person were friendly, she ruined the first experience. Room wasn't very comfortable-it was too warm and very noisy. We left too early to take advantage of complimentary breakfast, but they did fix a nice to go breakfast for us, which we appreciated. July 18, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by comfortable bed Disappointed by price especially since they were renovating. Internet service was horrible. Breakfast was not tasty and some of the muffins tasted like they were mixed with the same spoon. The trains were very loud. Fridge didn't work. The staff was friendly but the check in staff was kind of slow. It took a long time to get registered. July 17, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Needs Renovations This hotel building was obviously not originally an HIE property, but acquired by the chain at some point. Both the exterior and common areas of the interior badly need renovations and upgrades, to match the quality of decor most visitors associate with a Holiday Inn Express. However, the guest rooms are as you would expect, which is clean, comfortable, and well appointed. Although the staff at this hotel was very friendly, they were not very efficient. I had asked for my group reservation keys to be made in advance of arrival; they were not. I needed to give the staff my Rewards number at 3 different times during my stay, before it appeared on my account! Plus my consolidated bill was not prepared for me the morning of checkout, as I was told it would be. I got lots of assurances, but little action. Until this HIE improves, I recommend finding another hotel among the dozens available in Flagstaff, AZ. July 16, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel Under Reconstruction--staff working hard to compensate~ Like many Holiday InnExpresses (I've observed), the Flagstaff facility is in the midst of conversion from a former non-Holiday Inn property. The room was fine, although reconstruction noise (like the sound of an aluminum roof being deconstructed three stories below) was a bit of an issue: but not after 5:30PM or before 9AM. The staff was extremely accommodating, however, and our room rate was the lowest I've seen from a Holiday Inn Express, anywhere! My bet is this will be a remarkable facility in coming months. In the meantime, expect the usual room cleanliness and the great staff suport! The location adjoins a major thoroughfare and (some distance further) a BNSF rail line. Neither were audible from the room, however. July 13, 2014

I teach online and get up early to do that; both mornings I found that the coffee supply had not been replaced, the pot not cleaned, and the used grounds still sitting in the pot. July 5, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Did not honor reservation Made reservation for 3 adults with 2 Queen beds in March for a 6/22/14 stay. While on the road that day, I called ahead to advise of arrival time and to have the room available. When arrived was told only a king bed room with a rollaway bed available. The rollaway was so uncomfortable with the springs poking through the thin mattress & staff member did bring another mattress but still very uncomfortable. It was a very small King room with little floor space. One adult ended up sleeping on the floor on the 2 thin mattresses. This ruined the entire stay and upset me so, that I slept very little that night. There was little floor space in the room and very little room to maneuver with 3 suitcases and the mattresses on the floor. So much for being a Platinum member with almost 100 nights already this year and more to come through December. This was a totally disappointing Holiday Inn Express experience. This property needs new policies about honoring reserved rooms with the requested number of beds. July 2, 2014

However, the following day everyone was on their best due to a business holding a conference there. I felt like a second fiddle customer. This hotel is close to the Grand Canyon, one of the natural wonders of the world, yet the staff member we spoke to was clueless about directions, or anything surrounding the hotel. While they are not expected to be tour guides, I would have expected more than 'let me google it for you'. the hotel in general could use a little spiffing up. July 1, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not one I'll revisit First I'd like to state that I'm a platinum member of Holiday Inn, and only stay at Holiday Inns when I travel for business or pleasure. This was a weekend trip my family took to the Grand Canyon. We booked 2 rooms, and stayed one night only. The Room was very nice as expected. But the hotel appeared to be recently renovated, and somewhat poorly. The walls were paper thin, not something I'm used to when I stay at them. The outside noise made it very difficult to sleep at night, being close to the highway. The pool was quite filthy, riddled with bugs, and and just looked dirty. I have 2 boys and they wouldn't go in it, and don't recall seeing anyone in the pool the entire stay. The Breakfast was outstanding. Very nice selection compared to many Holiday Inns I've stayed at, but it simply didn't make up for the poor nights sleep I received from the loud outside noise. I understand the higher rate due to the location's proximity to the Grand Canyon, but I would have felt better staying in an $80 room and getting the same nights sleep. Also, it is 90 minutes from the Grand Canyon, so if you're looking to stay there for that attraction, you're better off staying much closer to the park. June 24, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel does need the updating it is getting The front of the hotel is shut down for painting. The elevators and areas around the elevators sure show the signs of wear. It looks like the guest rooms had already been updated.We had a good nights rest. We had just left a Holiday Inn in New Mexico which must have been fairly new, quite a difference. June 21, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Family Vacation Had four rooms. Three matched my reservation and one did not. So much for making reservations 9 months in advance. Staff was great and breakfast quality was excellent. Facility is very old and run down. Cleanliness was maintained; but things were broken down (elevator, in room hairdryer, etc) on a regular basis. TV Remote/Cable very cumbersome to use. The staff never made an attempt to forewarn me that a major renovation was starting on the third day of our stay. Parking was blocked off earlier and was a major issue. Pool is tiny (I have seen bigger hot tubs). I am a very experienced traveler (200 nights a year in a hotel). Theory: This was an old Holiday Inn converted to a Holiday Inn Express. In my business we have a saying: There is nothing older than an old Holiday Inn. The facility is worn out. The staff works hard to keep things up to standard; but it's like putting lipstick on a pig. If you're a business traveler looking for an overnight stay. You'll be fine.
