Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday. Inn near Channel Tunnel Excellent in all respects could not fault any aspect May 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very friendly staff and comfortable beds As frequent travellers to Europe via the Tunnel, we stay often and thought it time to comment on the first rate staff and comfortable accommodation. No matter what time of day the staff are always welcoming and cheery; an early start means you are offered a packed breakfast if you are checking out before 6.00 am. We have never had a bad nights sleep here despite often arriving after a 3/5 hour journey with the M25 throwing it's worst traffic at us. A secure car park too and with staff on reception all night this adds to the good nights sleep I'm sure! Excellent value for money and we'll be back. May 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing staff , Staff were well mannered and at hand to help, cooked food after hours for us , thx . May 19, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great value perfect hotel for the eurotunnel. nice clean room ,comfortable and reasonably well equipped for a budget room. breakfast was reasonable, not full english but we didnt pay full english price. very happy and will use here again May 18, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Evening reception miserble Morning reception better, evening meals over priced for the cost and poor value May 16, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent value When travelling I generally stay at Holiday Inns. The reason, you know what you are getting, excellent quality and value for money. The stay at Folkstone lived up to expectations, excellent service and good food. The location adjacent to the Chunnel was just what we needed after a long journey from the north of England, it enabled a refreshed and early start to our journey in France the next morning. My only negative comment is that the internet could have been provided free of charge. May 12, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Room facilities & on-line booking Two twin rooms booked on-line for total 3 people. On-line correctly shows charge for 2 rooms but bill on arrival showed an extra value per room "for 3rd person each room". Staff excellent and sorted it out after pointing it out but this has happened before. If there is a variation between on-line value and actual, I think this should be pointed out by staff at time of arrival so that it can be resolved immediately. One room had air con set to automatic so unable to change temperature - staff attempted to sort from their counter controls but I gave up when I got back to the room to find the same problem. TV not accepting menu request so unable to set wake up call. Second room air con unable to increase heat. Later found out from staff that it took 5 - 10 minutes to heat up. As this room was used by older member of staff, it showed that the room needed to have information about the heating control. We did check the TV menu which is quite extensive but it does not cover the air unit. May 10, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Quilt to small We stayed one night and the overall experience was OK, the only downside was the size of the quilt on the bed, it was too small for the bed and did not provide sufficient cover for two people. May 10, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Perfect location for Channel Tunnel We criticised this hotel for the muddled breakfast area when we travelled out but on the way back it seemed better. Nice quiet location and with perhaps less people around the breakfast area seemed fine. May 6, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by A mixed message We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express before a trip through the channel tunnel as suggested by Saga. We found that the staff were welcoming and helpful, no problems there.. However there were two downsides which have prompted my poor rating of the hotel. Firstly the instant coffee provided in the bedroom was foul and undrinkable and secondly the bed was small to start with and we were both expected to sleep under ONE SINGLE DUVET. This is totally unacceptable in any hotel. Hence I will not recommend your property. May 3, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn Express Folkestone Generally good and good value, fairly standard Holiday Inn Express fayre. However, on arriving I was told there was likely to be a wait of 1 hour for a meal in the dining area (for just one person), which seemed a bit excessive. I went out by car and struggled to find anywhere handy. Very handy for the Euro Tunnel. May 2, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable room, very friendly helpful staff Greeted with very friendly staff, room very clean, a lttle disappointed the fish and chips weren't avaibable for dinner but the burger was delicious! May 2, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location for tunnel stopover Excellently situated for channel tunnel and great value too. We've stayed here now 3 times and staff always very helpful. Our dog is also made very welcome and rooms very clean. April 28, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Visiting Good welcome room fine served purpose of visit Proximity to Folkeston good April 28, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by helpful staff A very nice place. Clean & comfortable rooms, helpful staff. We needed a taxi to go to Folkestone. We had a couple of numbers ourselves, but were unsuccesful,so we asked the reception staff & they contacted a firm they use, & there was no problem. Only a couple of little things, lack of hot water in the bathroom, we can only assume that so many people wanting to leave early for Euro star, that anyone else wanting to wash or shower later only had hot water very intermittantly. Also, some of the channels on the TV had different numbers,egYesterday channel in my area is 18 or 19 at the hotel it was on number 11 on the remote. I'm not sure if this was a regional issue or the channels on the TV had been mixed up by previous users,on the plus side my mother asked for an extra pillow which she received with no hassle. We did, however find it difficult to find some where to eat Tescos or Morrisons was the nearest place to eat on a Friday early evening apart from the hotel. April 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Does what it says on the tin Efficient, streamlined, very clean room, helpful desk staff and very quick to move through. Exactly what you need before an early start on Eurotunnel. April 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stay Our stay was mostly comfortable. But I had to sleep in my dressing gown to stay warm through the night because the duvet on the bed was far too small. Other than that, the staff were very helpfull, breakfast good, (the waiter always seemed to be working hard keeping the place clean and tidy and making sure everything was topped up for breakfast, hope he's paid well, lol.) Reception staff always polite. Won't hesitate to stay there again. April 18, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent service and room the staff couldnt have been more accommodatiog. Nothing was too much trouble Fast check in, good food and ease checkout Would definitely use again if travelling thru eurotunnel April 18, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable, well appointed room. We just had a one night stay but couldn't fault our stay for value for money, April 16, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by fantastic location superb for buisness and leisure trips being adjacent to euro tunell . always super friendly reception very comfortable rooms perfectly presented and clean with everything needed for a relaxing night and an early start . fantastic April 14, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Uncomfortable beds The hotel is clean and staff are friendly. It is conveniently close to the Channel Tunnel. For me, the only big problem was that the bed was extremely uncomfortable. I struggled to sleep and woke up with an achy shoulder that stayed with me for two days. Breakfast is ok. Overall, it is convenient and good value for money but not necessarily a restful night. April 14, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Happy Traveller Excellent location for travelling across the channel. Staff always very welcoming on each time I have stayed. Rooms clean and tidy. A good breakfast choice and a small selection of bar meals at night. Only gripes i have is the lack of decent seating in what is a small reception area, and more anoyingly allowing of parked cars in disabled bays without displaying blue badge. Overall a well established hotel efficiantly run and well managed. April 12, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Disappointing We have stayed at this hotel many times and have always been very happy with the service. This visit was a disappointment in spite of the efforts of duty manager Steve. He was on duty with two very poor assistants who were totally unable to cope with the very busy hotel. Steve was rushed off his feet with absolutely no backup. He maintained a cheerful and polite service but I would suggest that, at such busy times, the duty manager has staff he can rely on. We will use the hotel again, because of its convenience and because we have always been very happy before this. April 6, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Unhappy soldier I recently stayed here for one night. I was driving over from Germany for a friends wedding from the military base i am stationed at. The wedding started at 2pm and check-in wasn't available until 3pm. I made a phone call to the establishment asking if it was possible for me to check in early and change into my suit for the wedding. The response i received from the young female receptionist was nothing short of horrendous. She in no uncertain terms told me i had not paid for an early check-in and therefore was not interested in what i had to say. When i asked if she could do a soldier a favour she simply said 'no', and then hung up on me. I was greatly saddened when i did check in at 2am after the wedding that she wasn't working as i was so looking forward to instilling some manners and discipline into the female concerned. If you enjoy being treated like something unsavoury on the bottom of a Wellington boot then by all means stay at this establishment, if, however, you are a normal human being then avoid like the plague. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Impressed Room good and complimentary breakfast good. Fall out of bed into Channel Tunnel! April 5, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Have a read and you decide............... Having booked our rooms just before 17.00 on the 20th March, when we arrived and checked in at 22.40 that same evening, nearly some 5 and a half hours later i did not expect to find the second bed for my 4 year old son not to be made up for him to sleep in. I then went to reception to enquire on who would be making our second bed as we had no bedding in the room to do this ourselves. Carlos the man behind reception at the time had no explanation to why the bed had not been made up and said 'he would sort it'. I would not say that sorting it was dumping a plastic bag full of bed linen outside of our room door and then just walking off without so much of a knock or offer to make the second bed. We then made the bed ourselves and put our son down to sleep for the second time as he was now already asleep on the main bed. With him settled i headed back to reception for a second time only to find Carlos had now finished his shift and gone home early. The guy now behind reception for the night shift then proved to be one of the most unhelpful people in a hotel that i have ever met. The only words that ever seemed to leave his lips were 'not my problem, it was not on my shift'. Well without having a full blown argument with him i left shaking my heading with him still saying 'its not my problem'. In the morning when i went to settle my bill, Carlos was behind reception and he said that he didn't want me to pay and that i must wait for the manager to arrive to discuss the problem from the night before, as he was unable to waiver any room charges, or authorise any such transaction himself. As the manager was not due in until 09.30 we had to leave as our tunnel crossing was at 08.10. We left without any charge being confirmed. Having returned home from France we have now checked our credit card statement and to our surprise a full room charge has been taken. I'm not sure in all your policies and procedures that customers should be asked to make their own bed and then have the audacity to make them pay for the privilege afterwards,or should any customer be spoken to in such an obnoxious and unhelpful manner. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good night sleep arrived only at 22.00 hrs, welcomed by a friendly receptionist, check in took 23 seconds, room clean, crisp bedlinen and a good night's sleep. 15 minutes from the ferry check-in at Dover. March 30, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Comfortable room for price Room was fine. Receptionist was not welcoming. If you are eating there is nothing to tell you that you need to chose a table first, take the number to the bar, order food and then return to table to wait for food. There are no identified gluten free options identified which was an issue for me as a Coeliac. The receptionist was serving at the bar and was rude when asked about the routine for ordering food. Also we were told there were no tables to book between 6.45 & 8pm, and had to eat at 6.15pm however there were lots of empty tables until way past 7.30pm whille we were eating our meal. Breakfast was also limited for gluten free options. The main attraction of this property is its proximity to the Tunnel. We looked but could not find anywhere else to eat nearby except Tesco which closes at 5pm although Tesco menu was more extensive! March 29, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Home from home! This is one of the best Express by Holiday Inns that I have stayed in. The staff are very friendly and it is very pleasant to be recognised as an "old hand". I like the different pillows available in the bedrooms and also the bathroom. It is great to have all that I need provided for me. There is a warmth here - which has nothing to do with the central heating! March 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WOULD USE AGAIN Great hotel. Just under ten minutes from the tunnel, perfect for a stop over. The room was clean spacious and hot water for the bath. Breakfast was good, just what you need to start the day. If I had to complain about breakfast it would be that there was only sausage on the morning we were there and we would have prefered bacon! We would certainly stay here again and recomend to this hotel to anyone who is thinking about it. March 20, 2013
