Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ShanR Comfortable reasonably sized double bed but no fridge bar.
Good night's sleep; clean room and bathroom. Breakfast was ok, seeing that it was included in the price. There was also a free newspaper, although I couldn't choose which one as it was a Sunday.Would have appreciated a fridge bar though.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tombo47 Overnight before Eurotunnel
Perfect location for Eurotunnel, in a quiet area.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was good, but bacon would have been welcome.
The room and facilities represented good value.
My personal gripe, which applies to many, more expensive hotels too, is that there was only one chair in our double room.I appreciate that space is often a limiting factor though.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Sue913 All the basics
Pros: Clean, excellent water pressure and bathroom features, and well maintained. Cons: Only a bed and a desk in this room. No luggage racks (hard on some senior citizens), or face cloths in the bathroom. Basically a stripped down Holiday Inn Express.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Major13 Good stopover for The Tunnel
We've stayed here a few times now on the way to and the way back from France. Despite the hotel often being full of families it has been quiet at night and we have slept well, a prerequisite for a long journey the following day.
On our most recent stay we were most impressed by the member of staff who rejected two wine glasses before he was confident we were getting clean glasses. Previously we have been impressed by the meeting and greeting and slick electronic booking system.
This time there was a false fire alarm at approximately 7am. These things happen, but we were less than impressed by the staff's reaction. Nobody came out to the car park where the guests had assembled to let us know it was a false alarm and inside everything appeared as normal. Not good enough, but certainly not something to stop us returning when we next cross the Channel.

We cannot recommend the hotel highly enough. It caters brilliantly for people travelling using the tunnel like ourselves. We had our large dog with us and everything was so easy. It represents great value for money.
The staff are brilliant. So welcoming. In particular Stephen. Nothing was too much trouble. They made the journeys end worthwhile. Well done and thank you

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by KSH40 Not too bad
Well after travelling with 2 young children from Royan, France for 9 hrs, 2 hrs waiting at Eurotunnel crossing, we were greeted by a lovely young man (Steven) and given our room key. We decided that we'd take breakfast at 9am and head back leisurly home. We were woken by the fire alarm at 6.45am because the toast was burnt, not impressed. A few of us assembled at the fire assemly point in the car park and no member of staff joined us. Somebody had to go to reception and see what was happening as we were left to presume it was a false alarm. Staff need some training on fire procedures and the welfare of their clients!!!!!. Breakfast was welcomed and was substantial. Great location for one night stay very close to Eurotunnel.

First time staying here. Very good service from reception, Room clean comfortable, good night's sleep. Felt really relaxed in the bar area. Evening dinner was not bad, cost quite a bit. More food option's would have been better as very select. I would stay again as very good for the euro tunnel.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BettyP Just what we needed
As we had an early crossing on the Channel Tunnel I decided to book a family room at the Holiday Inn for the night before. Staff were friendly and helpful and the bedroom and bathroom were very clean. We were asked on arrival if we would like a wake up call and takeaway breakfast the following morning. We opted for the takeaway breakfast as we wouldn't have time to have a sit down meal but this option was great (2 croissants, juice and an apple). I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Soft bouncy mattress was the problem. Every time I moved my wife woke up! Otherwise the overall 'product' was acceptable and the location by the tunnel idea for users!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Deepeabee Don't eat here!
Four adults in the party. We arrived after driving through France and the receptionist was marvellous, very friendly, very helpful and extremely polite. The room was quite comfortable but was fitted out as a disabled persons room and as an able person some things (like sinks) were lower than usual. It wasn't a problem though and overall the room was ok.
The problem really was with the "restaurant". As we had been driving all day we didn't really want to go anywhere for a meal. They insisted we book a table, which is fair enough if they are busy, but there were only a few other guests eating and most of the tables were free. We booked for the earliest time they could offer, which was 30 minutes from the time of booking. We arrived a few minutes before and had to go and remind them that we were there after 15 minutes as no-one had notified us that a table was ready for us. When we told them, they said we were to go and choose a table.
The waitress came and took our order and I think she must have been having a bad day. She sloped around without a smile, hardly spoke at all. When she brought the meal she put it down without a word and we realised we had to get our own knives, forks, napkins and sauces. Two of us had ordered the fish and chips which the menu said came with sauce but there wasn't any on the plate. The food was over priced. The atmosphere in the restaurant was low rate market cafe. I would rather not eat than eat there again.
Breakfast was a 'help yourself' with the usual cereal, bread etc. (the toaster was broken) and scrambled egg and sausage (no bacon).
Overall, if we hadn't eaten there the experience would have been good.

Once again we stayed overnight before going on to Euortunnel the following morning. A very clean and comfortable room that is well furnished. Cooked breakfast this time which was quite good too.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hesk Good as usual
This hotel, being ideally situated for the Channel Tunnel, makes a good stopover. The rooms are clean and bright and spacious.
We would have liked a little more surface area to put toilet bags etc in the bathroom. And why do all hotels in this class use such poor toilet tissue. False economy. More hanging space for towels also would be nice. Otherwise no complaints and certainly will be using hotel again.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Poorly designed "acccessible" room
This "accessible" room is totally unsuitable for wheelchair users.
The bathroom sink cannot be approached straight on due to being set too low. There is a wide shelf at the front of the sink which constantly gets wet - disabled people can't avoid getting their sleeves wet. Wheelchair users therefore have too wash sitting at right angles to the sink. Who washes like that?
The door of this bathroom opens the wrong way. It opens out, making it very difficult to turn into the room.
The room's mirror is set on the wall outside the bathroom. There is plenty of wall space elsewhere which would have been more appropriate for it, as well as making the room brighter, given that the room lighting is poor.
The management were not interested when I pointed out the shortcomings and could not even give me a customer service address to write to.
Overall this room pays lips service to clients with a disability and no proper thought has gone into its design. It represents very poor value for money. I won't be choosing Holiday Inn Express again.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by IantoD Disapointing this time
I have stayed here before when on my way to France but was very disappointed with this particular stay.
On arrival and after using the toilet in our room for the first time it was obvious that the toilet was broken as it was continually running. A member of staff was sent to fix this and did so by turning the water off completely! We only realized this later and were unable to flush again all night. Not pleasant at all!
I did not want another staff member in the room or a change of room as my young daughter was now asleep.
My wife spoke reception again in the morning regarding the problem and her number was taken so that the manager could ring her when he came on duty later that same day. We are still waiting for him to call. After a month I am guessing that he’s not going to bother.
I would suggest to the company as a whole that scrambled egg, beans and sausage do not make a full cooked breakfast and never has. Where is the bacon?

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by m3gs Nice room. Skip the restaurant...
Comfortable room. Very clean etc. Bed only a standard double though. Bathroom excellent and well designed.
The restaurant is very very basic. Order your meal at the bar. 40 mins later it arrives. Food is very simple and our fish and chips were tasteless. Staff appeared under pressure and several fellow diners had cause to complain. Perhaps better to get a take away...

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by AUZANCES Great value and lovely staff
After a 7 hour drive from France it was a delight to again be staying at this hotel. Arriving late in the evening all of the staff couldn't be more friendly and accommodating. As the restaurant was closed they provided us with take away menus and when the food arrived they provided the crockery to eat from with a smile. Carlos the duty manager was exceptionally professional, helpful and friendly. Stayed here on both routes of our journey, would definitely stay here again. Thank you

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Major13 Good sleep experience
Taking into account the hotel was full of families with young children we had a good night's sleep and were refreshed for the early Tunnel dash. We noted the increasing 'self service' required from a previous visit but recognise this is needed to keep costs down. We were impressed that breakfast started serving just before the advertised time. This was good as we had limited time to catch the train. The hotel is ideally situated for those using the The Tunnel. We are staying again on the return leg.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by French22 Hit the wrong night!!
Stayed here as a stopover to the Eurotunnel the following day.
Room was clean but curtain was ripped and hanging off the track.
Staff were good but very busy, not enough staff on front desk.
Wanted, expected a good nights rest but lots of parties going on for the week-end which made it difficult to sleep, Room next to public toilets on the ground floor, plus the lift and the fire door kept banging until early hours of the morning.
Have stayed in holiday Inns previously and been happy with the room and the standard. but not this one on the night we stayed...sorry....

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Diddydee Poor Breakfast
Having just traveled from France we had an exceptional nights sleep. Unfortunately the breakfast selection the next morning was very poor. only marmalade to have with a bread roll or croissant no jam to be seen. Only three items for a hot breakfast a better deal could be had at the Tesco up the road

Just in general good. Service is perfect. Familiy room was nice. Extra bed slept actually exeptional good. Just one minus: the strawberry jam @ the breakfast was out. When i mentioned this the answer was: sorry the jam is out. I had to take honey which i hate. Mistake with ordering? Can happen but this schould be just a simple matter of organizing this in a right way so it can't happen. Rest was more then avarage and ok. I highly recommend this hotel.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Room ok food awful
The room was ideal for what we needed, however the food was awful. We paid over £50 for our evening meal. My husband had fish which was warm, not hot like you would expect. I had a burger which was warm again not hot just as we're the chips. I think they were kept under a hot plate for well a while.
The kids meals were awful too, they were not ate. We had to go to Tesco and buy them something. The breakfast was disappointing too.
I would not recommend the hotel if you want to eat there. The staff were not very helpful, my baby was sick and one of the waitresses looked disgusted and didn't offer to get us a cloth, we had to ask after she saw is struggling

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Snoop11 Relaxed atmosphere, nothing too much trouble
Stayed for 2 nights in total on each leg of our journey to and from France. Rooms spotlessly clean and comfortable. Very warm welcome and could not have made us feel any more at ease, it was our first time bringing our pet dog into a hotel environment and it was brilliant!! Food was good and breakfast the next morning totally relaxed and more than enough choice.
5 minutes (literally) from the Euroshuttle. Would definitely recommend and definitely stay again - Thank you
