Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Traveling Tee Excellent staff & convenient location
From the onset of the process via online / telephone call the staff were outstanding in their professionalism, friendly manner and willingness to help.
In particular, Stephen, who helped me park my vehicle with trailer safely in the car park. Extremely helpful and a wonderful happy demeanor. A credit to to this particular Holiday Inn Express.
The food in the evening was decent, not Restaurant quality but decent enough to eat after a long drive. Again, smiling staff were a pleasure to chat with and be served by.
My only criticism was my room. I didn't sleep well due to the noise from what must have been the motorway / euro freight nearby. Room 102. The bed was a hard mattress. Because I had a dog with me, I was put in a 'dog room' . Which smelt of .... Dogs!! I have 3 dogs and my home never smells of dogs. My dog had his own bed and only weighs 4 lbs! Upholstery needs cleaning frequently along with the carpet!! In general the room was clean.

Have stayed at this HI on a regular basis over the last few weeks due to my husband working in the area and I just want to say thank you to all the staff for making our stays such enjoyable ones. Nothing is too much trouble for them all very friendly and welcoming. Yes its a Holiday Inn Express so things are a little basic but the staff make up for this in a big way. Stay in Holiday Inns on a regular basis and must say I enjoy this one over some of the other much more expensive ones. I am also pleased to say the food you can take up to your room is of a good standard which is something I cannot say for many other hotels. Thanks again please keep it up as I think you will have us for a few more stays.

The staff at this hotel were personable, helpful and available what more could you want. Highly recommended. Perfectly located for the channel tunnel less than three minutes away.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Travellers123 Convenient for tunnel but poor bedding and tepid water
This hotel is convenient for the Eurotunnel and good value. However, while the bed itself was good, the duvet was thin and not warm enough and no extra cover/blanket is supplied.
We also found that the water for the showers in the morning at around 8am was only tepid. The night before it was hot but it is clearly important to have sufficient hot water at peak times in the morning.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Smudge1967 Poor Sleep
Stayed overnight on Thursday 6th March. Everything was ok until about 4am in the morning, then what I believe was the aircon generator started up. It was as though there was an HGV in the room! I contacted the reception to inform them about the situation but all they wanted to do was to try & fob me off with a phone number because they said there was no manager available to deal with my issue! So, please be aware if you get offered a room on the 3rd floor then you'll receive an early morning call!!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Excellent location for the tunnel crossing
Used this hotel as an overnight stay for an early channel crossing. The staff were very helpful, changing our room requirements with no notice.
After a long drive, it was nice to be able to have dinner on site, the menu selection is not vast, but the meal was well presented and enjoyable.
As we had to leave before breakfast, the hotel provides a packed takeaway breakfast at no extra cost, which we enjoyed whilst on the crossing.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Big Col Good location
We chose this hotel for its location in relation to the channel tunnel. It is a very clean hotel however the noise from passing lorries all night meant we didnt get much sleep. I would recommend this hotel but try to get a quiet room. The staff a very helpful (even if the night person did have his tie halfway down and was wearing trainers !!!)

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Brian en route Great location and good size beds
Stayed for an overnight prior to Tunnel trip next morning. Booking process smooth and room was spacious, clean and quiet. Very good value for money. Free wifi internet a hassle to use only real grumble. Why do hotels have to do all this create an account hassle rather than just hand out a guest wifi code. I don't ask friends who stay overnight at my house to create an account with date of birth etc etc!!

I would really like to compliment you on your staff, they were all very friendly, helpful and professional. The hotel is very clean the rooms are clean and comfortable. The fact that it's minutes away from the Euro Tunnell makes it a really good reason to stay. Although I don't travel down that way very often I would definitely stay there again when in the area. Thank you.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by DrKiko great staff. very close to eurotunnel.
I tour with bands and I use around 50 IHG hotels a year. I used this one first time last week. It's a great location very close to eurotunnel.. The staff was fantastic. A truly gentle welshman was at reception who cheered up my bands before going to europe.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Vixie123 A great night's sleep before travelling in France!
Honestly - you couldn't ask for more. We arrived exhausted, had a great burger and good night and a really good breakfast. The staff couldn't be more helpful. Just a word of advice - if you are travelling with your dog it is worth phoning to check that they do have rooms available for people with pets. Obviously dogs and owners cant sleep in ANY room and they have 5 designated for the purpose. It was fine for us, but they did suggest that next time you do ring to confirm. Have a nice stay!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Wesi1910 Ideal for early morning Channel crossing
We often stay here the night before an early morning Eurotunnel crossing. My request for a quiet room and top floor has always been fulfilled, if I remember correctly and most of the staff is very friendly and attentive. The night shift can be a bit grumpy occasionally so I tend to aim for a quick checkout.
The rooms are clean and the mattresses usually quite comfortable.

After driving for over 7 hours almost non-stop across France and a rough 90 min Channel crossing, we were looking forward to our stay at Holiday Inn, Folkstone and we were not disappointed.
Having stayed at other Holiday Inns before, we knew what standards to expect and were glad to be welcomed by a nice young receptionist.
Our room was very comfortable, warm and cozy. Getting to sleep presented no problem at all.
The free breakfast in the morning was tasty and very palatable.
All in all, as expected, we enjoyed our all too brief stay. but we shall stay again on our next trip abroad.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Fersanchi Very poor heat air conditioning
Very cold room. The heater did not work properly and it was so cold in the room so we could not sleep well. Of course do not think about going to the toilet in the middle of the night because you could become frozen.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Traveler 93 lack of wifi and good coffee
I use the Ashford hotels for travel across the channel, I find the lack of wifi very frustrating as wish to check travel conditions. The lack of good coffee compared with the cheapest of French hotels is dire. Cheap French hotels also supply free wifi?

Stayed here for one night while visiting friends so just needed a comfortable place to sleep at the end of the night. The hotel rooms are simple but spanky clean and well designed. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Great choice for a straightforward budget hotel which delivers on all fronts. Don't have any niggles whatsoever.

Just ideal for pre- or post- cross channel stay. Best overnighter I've had in Dover / Folkstone area. Comfy bed and pillows, quiet room and - booking early - great value.
Staff particularly knowledgeable and helpful for this class of hotel.
Only room for improvement would be the coffee....

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by dal5 Pet Friendly
This is a great stop for either going to France or coming back. Part of the attraction is that it is advertised that pets are accepted. Many guests like ourselves have a dog with them. As dogs are not usually allowed in hotels, to be left in the rooms, perhaps a little larger area for eating accompanied by your dog would be better .Also an area for dogs to "exercise" would be appreciated. All in all a very good stopover

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by T1946 Superb facilities but .........
This hotel was superb in all respects except for one thing. Dogs are permitted to stay in rooms and on entering ours we could smell a doggy odour and there were black hairs on the floor. Because the hotel was full we decided to stay put and we did have a good night's sleep. During the evening when we made use of the excellent bar and restaurant area we saw at least a further 3 dogs on leads being taken to rooms... there may well have been more.
Surely, if the policy is to allow dogs to stay in the hotel, which rooms they use should be known to all staff & guests, so that those guests who suffer with an animal allergy or who do not wish to use those rooms (smell/hairs, etc) can be offered alternative, un-tainted rooms to avoid using the 'doggy' rooms.
