Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Good business stay I usually do not stay at Holiday Inn Express during my business travel. However, due to the location of the meeting I was attending this was the closet hotel. I really was surprised by how nice it was and enjoyed my short stay. June 13, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by FOOD experience The last two weekends we have been in a Holiday Inn Express. Both weekends we have had a mediocre breakfast experience. The One in Rhode Island, had FOZEN hard boiled eggs that were off color (obviously been there a while). The second day (Sunday morning) there was some kind of an omelet that had an indescribable filling. Again at this Holiday Inn Express we had the same indescribable filling in the omelet (would have been better with just cheese) and no hard boiled eggs and at both of them there was no hot water and no REGULAR tea, only decaf. There was also no meat on the bar. June 11, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Rooms stink Should have expected what I got when I made the reservation on line and the only rate available was to buy an additional 1000 points. No option for not buying points. I made the reservation anyway since I had business to conduct in the area. At check-in, I was advised that I was stuck in a "smoking" room. THIS ROOM HAD AN OBNOXIOUS ODOR. I was supposed to stay 2 nights but cancelled the second night due to the room odor. I do not understand why, in this day and age, a hotel of any sort would subject their customers to this repulsive second hand smoke and odor. I will definitely never return to this location. When I do business in the Forest City area in the future, I will definitely be looking for alternate accommodations. June 11, 2014

However, I always look forward to the times when my work takes me to Forest City. For some reason, the staff there has figured out how to be the absolute best in what they do! I am happy to stay there, and have never had anything less than a very wonderful stay at your hotel. It is always in tip top shape, the breakfast is always perfect, and it is a very warm and comfortable place to visit while on the road. Thanks for being so awesome!! ---Chris I. May 16, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by bad front desk staff, poor customer service Staff at check-in (one male, one female) requested copy of my AAA not carry 'card" but showed them AAA app on phone with picture of my card...said that was not acceptable...lady asked me if I could email card...I have stayed at this location many times over the years...never have been ask for AAA card.. the lady said that it has always been their that point I left desk to go outside and get AAA card from car.....extremely poor customer service, bad attitudes, etc........will avoid this location in the future... I lived in this area for 8 years, so I'm very familiar with most of the places offering accommodations and none can really compare. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The staff is extremely friendly and anxious to provide anything extra you might need. The amenities are very good. Centrally located with many businesses (restaurants, stores, etc.) nearby. I stayed here when I was house hunting 8 years ago, and now stay here whenever I have to come back to town for business. It can be slightly more costly (on average), but you do get what you pay for in this area. I would recommend this place highly. May 6, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by first 5 star review I can usually find something wrong with every situation. Not this time! The bed was great. I had my first-ever enjoyable hotel shower. The water pressure was great. It was nice and hot. the soaps and shampoo were quality. The toilet tissue was soft. The room was clean. The staff was friendly, helpful, clean, etc. We slept thru the breakfast, so no comment there. We will be going back! December 10, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Thanksgiving trip We had a lovely suite that was roomy for 3 people. We enjoyed the free wi-fi and the pancake maker. Very snazzy. Overall it was a good trip. Housekeeping staff was very nice. The only CON we had was the hallways that had the smoking rooms were very strong to walk through. Glad our room was non smoking. December 3, 2013

The dining are was always clean and stocked. My check-in was effortless and the receptionist was knowledgeble and friendly. The comforter was tucked too far at the foot leaving a deficit in the coverlet at the top of the bed. The utmost worst thing about the rom was the sticky urine on the floor around the toilet and the floor was sticky with hair spray. October 23, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by room was good I have been staying at this hotel for the last 2 years, but after some of the staff was replaced, its hard to go back to this hotel without the greeting and warm welcome I got from Laura, she knew me by name and would go out of her way to make my stay better. The new staff is short and not as helpful:( Untill the staff attitude changes I will not stay in this hotel again, I will drive from Shelby or Spartenburg before I stay her again.......Also Internet Service is no good what so ever... Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Stay here if you go to Rutherfordton or Forest City very comfortable accommodations. a local told me that it was clean and safe, but i think it was a lot more than that. the room was really nicely furnished and well equipped. had breakfast on the patio out back which was a nice treat. plenty of food and choices. would highly recommend. oh, i forgot that i had points and when i made the reservation online i was pleasantly surprised to get the room for less than 1/2 price and i got a little gift when i arrived. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Just okay staff not so friendly- location is too funny I am a state employee. I had to CERTIFY that I was on state business. I am a rewards member and any staff can easily see my travel. I would think this hotel would be happy to collect the rate which isnt actually state rate!! No bill under the door. The staff was less than friendly. Just dont have expectations if you plan to travel to this location. Speaking of location - it is literally in the parking lot with the sonic drive in! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Forest City The overall stay was satisfactory, however I was staying for a period of two weeks and the washing machine was out of service for the entire period. When I inquired I was told it had been broken for a "few" weeks and they hoped that a they (assuming the owner) would just buy a new one. I returned the following week for a 1 night stay and it was still out of service. This was a inconvience that required me to go to a Laundry Mat. The staff was helpful with directions. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Rude Manager When I made my reservation, I made it at a higher rate than my co-workers were paying, with the intention of getting it changed later (didn't want the hotel to fill up first#. I neglected to do so #my fault), so when I was checking in, I asked to get the same rate as the others. Not only was I denied, I was treated with utter disdain and a complete lack of courtesy by the manager on duty, despite my Priority Club Platinum status. I can accept the higher rate, but what I will not tolerate is rudeness. Ordinarily I would not have stayed there due to her attitude, but I had no choice due to the lack of reasonable alternatives in this small town. Won't be going there again... May 3, 2013
