Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Customer Service As an IHG Platinum member, I stay at Holiday Inn Express establishments when possible. On May 9, 2016, I stayed at the Fort Saskatchewan inn. The gentleman on duty welcomed me as a platinum member. I asked if there was an upgrade available. I was told by Ciwin, the desk clerk, no upgrade rooms were available since they were occupied by Fort McMurray evacuees. The next morning I inquired how many evacuee were in the hotel and was told there were none this week. Also, on checking the hotel website, upgrade rooms were available. I find it interesting, I get an automatic upgrades at other Holiday Inn Express hotels but NEVER at this one. My coworkers also have the same experience. This reminded me of a similar situation I faced with this gentleman during an earlier stay. At that time asking if an upgrade was available, I was told the hotel was completely booked with no other rooms available. Again, on inquiry the next morning, I learned that this was not the case. At that time as well, the website indicated available upgrade rooms. I question the integrity of the gentleman who served me. This happening twice has brought into question why I would want to stay at this establishment. I believe all guest should be treated fairly. I stayed in Fort Saskatchewan the following night, it was NOT at this Holiday Inn Express. May 29, 2016
