Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad customer service will cause me to stay elsewhere in the future We have been coming to this Holiday Inn for years. We have stayed there multiple times both with and without children. We booked a suite and were told by central booking that we would receive a two room suite separated by a door, so that we could sleep our children in the second room of the suite. In reality, when we arrived, the "suite" was only a single room and did not fit our needs. When we alerted Yadira, the front desk attendant, she was less than helpful. She insisted that it was our problem and said there was nothing she could do. What's worse is that she didn't even explain the situation in an adequate way to the manager so that the manager could help solve our issue. Instead, her position on this was that it was just our tough luck. We proceeded to call central booking who also gave us the same poor customer service. In the end, given that it was Thanksgiving and we had driven for 2 hours, we took the room and we made it work. The issue that we experienced was that it was a bait-and-switch. Central booking told us one thing and the staff gave us less than what we were promised. We have never been treated so poorly by Holiday Inn. We have always enjoyed our stays in Freeport. I really don't know if we'll be back. The staff did nothing to solve the issue that they created. We were made to feel like we were asking too much and that WE were the ones being unreasonable. The fact of this is that we were sold a room that we purchased specifically because we have a family and we needed a full, two room suite. What we were given was a little more than a regular room and we were given a room that we did not agree to. We purchased a suite and we were given a regular room that did not fit our needs. We checked in before the normal time. The room was beautiful, clean, and spacious. The only thing that needs some improvement is the complimentary breakfast. November 22, 2013

Perhaps the room hadn't been occupied in awhile (???#. Comfortable bed & excellent pillows. Nice & generously sized bathroom. Clean. Beautiful breakfast room. Food choices were fair. Would have preferred more fresh fruit. Eliminate the biscuits & gravy #???). Preferr waffles to pancakes. More selection of bagels. Overall an excellent place! November 9, 2013

This time they upgraded our room, and it could not have been nicer. One thing that we really liked, were the windows REALLY opened to get some of that great Maine air in the room! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very pleased We had never stayed at a Holiday Inn Express previously, and whlie Holiday Inn has a good reputation, we probably figured their lower-cost offshoot would be noticeably deficient in quality. We only booked a reservation because all of our favorite spots had no vacancies. However, I noted the price was more reasonable than most, and a full breakfast was included. When we arrived, we were very surprised with both the size and equiping of the room. Every normal amenity was supplied (e.g., microwave, fridge, ironing board), and the room was spacious -- really a suite with a sitting/dining area and a bedroom/office area. And nothing was cramped. There was plenty of room to move around without bumping into things. Everything was clean and nicely decorated. Even the free breakfast buffet could easily have matched some that I have paid $10-12 per person to enjoy. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. We would highly recommend a stay here, and will definitely do so again. October 31, 2013

With luck we found ourselves in a well kept, updated, clean property with a staff that was efficient, friendly and eager to assist in anyway they could. Definitely a Holiday Inn Express property that I would highly recommend, you won't be disappointed. October 16, 2013

It may cost a little more than some, but it is worth it. We always find it clean and inviting. We also enjoy the breakfast with no hassle. The beds, especially the pillows, are just what we need when we are away from home. October 4, 2013

This hotel is only a couple miles away from all of the great Freeport outlet shopping, including LL Bean. Lots of restaurants in the area and a great health food store across the street. Only a 20-30 minute drive to Portland, depending on traffic. A great place to stay and will be staying when I do business in the area again! The only downside about breakfast is that they don't have many gluten free options (with a health food store across the street that has tons of breads and baked goods that are gluten free). Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very Poor Value The bed was uncomfortable. The pillows were worse. The pillows were some of the lousiest I have have ever seen. On top of that the room was dusty and dirty. The staff were nice, but given the fact that they could do little or nothing, were useless. To give you an idea of the value, the next night we stayed at a competitor's hotel in Boston overlooking the water. The room was not only lovely, but clean. The bed comfortable and the pillows were pillows, not torn up pieces of foam rubber thrown in a pillowcase and sewn together like at the Holiday Inn. And get this, the room was significantly less than the Holiday Inn. Never again would we stay here. September 4, 2013

If you don't shower before 7:00AM the water will be lukewarm at best by 7:30 or 8:00. Made this comment a year ago and unfortunately things have not changed. Otherwise we had a very good experience. There is a laundry, and a nice pool. Breakfast is fairly good with a number of choices. Rooms were expensive, but comparable to rates at other hotels (during peak season in this location). The room was very comfortable - our youngest liked sleeping in his own large space on the pull-out couch. The complimentary breakfast was a nice surprise, featuring a really nice choice of pancakes, eggs, bacon, toast, danish and a variety of juices and coffee. We did not end up using the pool which looked clean and was warm, but opted instead to go into town to visit the shopping area, which was five minutes down the street. August 21, 2013
