This hotel is independently owned and operated by Puja Hospitality LLC. This company clearly puts their revenue ahead customer service. I make this assertion, because in my experience, the hotel Managers, Prakash and Amanda, are more concerned with enforcing fees associated with their policy than providing a quality experience for their guests.
After a long drive for meetings in Bangor, I returned in the evening to find that my room had not been serviced. The bed was unmade, waste baskets had not been emptied and used towels were where I had left them when I rushed out the door at 5:30 AM. I gathered my belongings and decided to find a hotel that provides Holiday Inn’s expected level of quality.
I advised Kaitlyn, the front desk clerk, that my room had not been serviced and that I was checking out. Kaitlyn didn’t seem to believe me, asking if I left the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign out. She informed me that, even though her hotel’s staff failed to provide their standard service, she would have to charge me for that whole night. I hadn’t cancelled (or checked-in) before 6 PM the previous evening and after all, “…my things had been in the room all day.” I reminded her of my Platinum status and asked to speak with her manager. She called one of the 2 managers on the phone, who asked the same ‘Do Not Disturb’ question. On the phone, Kaitlyn told the manager that Christopher, the housekeeper, had signed-off on cleaning my room. To remove any doubt, I insisted that Kaitlyn inspect my room. She brought Christopher with her and we all agreed that this room had not been serviced.
The 2nd manager called at this point and Kaitlyn told him/her that the room definitely had not been serviced. I asked to speak to the manager, but he/she refused. Instead I was told that I would have to pay 50% of the room rate for early check-out.
I have stayed at IHG hotels all over the world. On many occasions, I’ve had to check out early due to schedule changes or other factors. Every other hotel has been accommodating. Sadly, both managers at this hotel refused to make it right.
