I had just returned from a vacation on an island off Cancun at a 5 star hotel and this bed was much better and the service was equal. I was attending a conference during the day and it was hot and humid; but when I got back to my room I had absolute comfort. June 6, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Going to/from Memphis? This is freat location, but late breakfast For those using the newly named I-22 (old U.S. 78) to go to/from Memphis, this is a great location. (Ever-changing detours from I-22 to I-65 will challenge the nav systems of those headed east. They'll finish I-22 one day: I've been waiting for 35 years.) It's just north of where I-22 will merge with I-65. For those going west, it's about six miles north of Daniel Payne Blvd exit from 65, the current (2014) best way to 22. Those going east should stay on 22 until forced off. Turn left over 22 and a good navi will take you thru rural neighborhoods right to the hotel. HOWEVER, the location needs to open its breakfast earlier. Note to Manager: It's ALREADY 7a not too bloody far from your motel! I'm the one who opened the plastic over the muffins. Why would you put out covered muffins? Is it illegal to eat muffins before 6:30a in Alabama? Tip for visitors: Bring your own plate and utensils. Sausage and eggs will be out, but no plates or forks until exactly the scheduled time: Or just make a sausage biscuit. Also, beware of slippery bathroom floors. May 29, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great check-in experience. Hotel has had updates. We were greeted by a smiling friendly front desk clerk named Philnetra. She immediately welcomed us as platinum members and offered us the choice of bonus points or complimentary bottled water/treats. She offered us an upgraded room at no additional cost. When we got to the room, the neighboring room guests had their door propped open and were being noisy. We walked back to the front desk and Philnetra(as nice and friendly as before)switched us to the same type of room on the next floor. When we entered this room it had a strong odor of cigarette smoke. We dreaded having to ask Philnetra to move us again but she was so nice about it and remained very professional. When we entered room #3, the phone started ringing and it was Philnetra calling to make sure everything in that room was satisfactory. She gave us 500 extra bonus points for our trouble when it really wasn't the hotel's fault that someone was being noisy next to the 1st room or that some idiot had smoked in a nonsmoking room in the 2nd room. Philnetra provided customer service that was above and beyond any I have seen at a hotel front desk. Hot coffee, freshly baked cookies and cold fruit punch were available in the lobby in the evening. The breakfast buffet was well stocked and had more offerings than many that I have seen elsewhere(although my husband missed having a waffle maker!) The hallways had nice clean wallpaper and new looking carpet that was very clean. The room was clean and the beds had very nice linens and were made up without a wrinkle and tucked in just so. The bed was very comfortable. The TV was a flat screen with Direct TV with one of the better plans that include HBO. We would stay here again. May 8, 2014

My recent stay here was no exemption to my standards of hotel brands and locations. As a matter of fact, I was completely shocked to see that the television was actually Direct TV. That right there, sets the standard for other chains to follow. That includes other Holiday Inn's as well because this was in the first I has seen they. The breakfast in the morning as well as the entire staff were very helpful and friendly. I enjoyed the stay and I am sure other guests will as well. April 13, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Great staff, Great location. Plenty of restaurants close by including Chick-Fil-A and WHATABURGER. If you need a place to stay I would suggest this one. I would say that front desk clerks at all IHG Hotels should have a list of great local restaurants. The desk clerk did send me to Full Moon BBQ and it was delicious. April 7, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Problems! I have stayed at this location several times in the past. However, My last two stays weren't as comfortable. The carpets in this location need to be cleaned or replaced. Very dirty looking carpets. The bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately, I didn't sleep very well. I got up during the night and notice roaches. One in the bathroom and one in the microwave glass. I should have left, but it was late. So, I slept with one eye open. Then, the toilet wouldn't flush correctly. Called the front desk for assistance, she was nice, but housekeeping never came. Upon returning home, I left my bags outside in the cold to be sure I didn't bring home any roaches. So, I will not stay at this location again until it has been renovated. It's unfortunate because the location is in a good location for the area. January 6, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Less then enjoyable room The room is old and outdated and I was shocked no refrigerator or microwave in any room except king suites.I did not know that was even an option anymore for this class of hotel. The TV satellite was in and out. Bed was uncomfortable, room musty air not working very well. I should of realized when there were no electric doors to entrance that the property is archaic. Hard to get in doors with luggage when you have to pull open. This is not what I would expect out a Holiday Inn Express much more like a lesser brand. I will not be staying here again. I will compliment the morning manager and evening desk clerk, they were extremely nice, and tried to be helpful but when your property is rundown there is not much you can do.. December 14, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Just OK Front desk was great but not welcomed as IGH Rewards Club. My room was not the cleanest. Roach on the ground that I threw out. Bath towels were missing one night. Another night they forgot to throw the trash out and lock my door behind (faulty door lock). They were willing to fix the issues but it was already end of my trip. I was contacted by the manager but did not speak with him regarding this due to my travels. November 18, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mrs The rooms were clean, the staff were friendly always asking if you needed anything. The breakfast was great, lots of different foods. The only problem I had is, I am a coffee drinker and I did not like the coffee brand. I got my coffee elsewhere, but the over all stay was great. One other thing, on Sunday morning the music I felt was inappropriate, hip hop, blues, country but a more spiritual type music would have been more appropriate on sunday morning. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good place to stay Overall this property was very good. I have stayed here before. In town for the Talledega nascar race. Great location for the race and Birmingham activities. Great restaurants in parking lot. Staff could not have been better. Being priority club member has no benefits or recognition at this property. If I ever come to the race again I will try and stay at this property again. October 24, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by comfortable bed clean hotel This hotel was very nice. The lobby area was very clean and the front desk attendant Phitmetra a was very friendly. She made me feel welcome. The room was clean and I like the sharp picture quality on the flat screen. They serve refreshments in the evening and the breakfast was good. Most of it was continental they had a few hot foods sausage and eggs. The hotel is in a convenient spot right off the interstate. And there are restaurants next door and on the same street. along with a strip mall with a Target and a few retail stores across the street . You don't have to go far to eat or shop, Over all my stay was very enjoyable everyone on staff was nice. I will definitely stay there again. October 14, 2013
