Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by birthdaygetaway0213 Most amazing getaway ever!
My fiance and i stayed at the Holiday Inn in Gainesville TX during our weekend getaway for my birthday and it was amazing! We stayed in the Jacuzzi suite. The room was beautiful! Its February and we even got to swim in the indoor pool that was very warm and comfortable. I think that the only thing they could improve on is how prompt that the maid service is. we had asked for more towels and it took them longer than i would have liked for them to bring them. but that was the only down fall the whole weekend. We had a safe in our room that we were able to protect our belongings and the breakfast was great. there was more of a variety of food to choose from than you would get a normal motel. Overall it was amazing and i cant wait to go back!

Room was not clean at checkin. Floor was dirty, table tops had not been wiped down to remove beverage rings and stickiness. Cost was nearly twice what I paid for a much cleaner room in OK City the following day. Will not stay there again.

The hotel was average, at best. The hallways and the room we were in smelled like smoke. UGH. When I walked in, I had to walk through two gentlemen that were smoking right outside the front door. I am all for smoker's rights, but non-smokers should have the right to not have to smell it in their hotel room.

We used points for this room and management was nice enough to upgrade us to a suite so we would be more comfortable given we had snorers in the group...hosts could not have been nicer, room was clean and comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thanks for your hospitality.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Art5 Comfortable bed and Great Service
The firmness of the bed was great. Having a soft and a firm pillow is a great help for me with my sleep apnea.
The service was also great: checking in is a breeze, etc

This property needs some customer service training. The young lady that checked me in was very helpful, a true professional. The morning clerk was the opposite. The breakfast starts the latest of any HIE I have ever stayed at and the person was late in getting it set up. I will not be staying at this property again if I can help it.

Nice Hotel. Clean, comfortable, friendly, beds very comfortable, nice pillow choices, cashier could be more helpful along with a little more attention to accuracy of receipts given out. Would recommend hotel. Nice stay for Gainsville!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Keljk Overall good experience
Hotel is well kept, clean rooms, and comfortable beds. Location is convenient to local restaurants and right off interstate highway. Staff always courteous. Have stayed here several times on business trips and it is always dependable as a good, experience. Wish the fitness center had a few other amenities like an elliptical and a few free weights, but still a good place to stay.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by lsank comfortable bed, great staff, fine service: 4.5 Stars
Hotel serves as a midpoint stop for holiday travels. Easy access to I35; Late arrival...early departure. I call early in the day to confirm a late arrival. Desk staff always has my paperwork waiting for me when I arrive. Night is short but I always depart rested and adequately fed.
Room is clean, staff is great, service is fine but I did notice the hotel is just beginning to look a little tired. However, considering the traveler traffic flowing through it is holding up well. might not hurt to do a little capital touch up beyond the normal standard operations.

Was disappointed that the breakfast bar closed so early (9:30 A.M.) in the morning. We had stayed out too late both nights we were there in Gainsville.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Texhorn Disappointing; Not Up To HEI Standards
As a Platinum Elite Priority Club member, I have stayed in countless HEI properties over the past few years and this ranks as one of, if not THE worst.
From the moment of arrival, the was no acknowledgment of PC status whatsoever. I asked if they might have a bottle of water and was told, "I can give you water but no snacks." Okay, that's fine. I asked if there were any restaurants or other establishments that were still open for a snack and a beverage. The front desk girl pointed across the highway and brusquely said, "Chili's." Of course, it was closed as was everything else in town.
The room was fine, but in need of new carpet. Several holes throughout and very worn in spots. Cigarette smell permeated the hotel, even on my supposed "non-smoking" floor. TV was fuzzy, but received a large number of channels. AC/heat is an antiquated unit, but provided enough noise to help drown out the highway racket. Bathroom had great lighting for HEI, but no functioning vent fan.
Breakfast Buffet is advertised to be served from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., but when I arrived shortly before 9:00, there was nothing left in the hot serving area. I asked the attendant and she ducked into her hiding area without comment. I settled for some yogurt and a banana and went to gather my belongings to check out. When I mentioned to the desk clerk that they should change the hours on the sign advertising the alleged breakfast buffet, all she could say was, "Oooooohhhhh" and hand me my receipt. No apologies, not thanks for staying with us, just "Oooooooohh."
Very disappointing stay to say the least.

Everything about the hotel was fine until we went down for breakfast. It was absolutely the worst HI Express breakfast we have ever had. The Pancake machine was out of oder, there was no gravy for the bisquits, the "omelets" were disgusting, filled with something we couldn't figure out what it was, the sausage wasn't cooked well (we believe --- it looked like there was raw fat on the surface). It was horrible!
Other than that, our bed was wonderful, and the shower the probably the best we have had. Lots of water pressure to make those wonderful shower heads do what they are supposed to do!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by wyb52 Disappointed
This was not my first time to stay at this property, but it may have been my last. The room was cozy enough, but the noise from the room above was too much. There were a few things that were lacking based on my expectations of Holiday Inn Express. As a Priority Club member, I stay almost exclusively at these hotels. One was the breakfast bar. There were no pecan rolls the first two mornings we were there. The pancake machine was either broken or they were out of mix. The hot food choices were just OK. I found the biscuits to be hard and a bit stale. The Fitness Center was not up to scale ether. Two of the machines were broken and the temperature in the room was hot and humid, with no way to adjust it without calling the staff. Also there was a coffee cup on the window ledge on Day 1...it was still there on Day 3. As for the staff, many of them did not speak English, making it hard to communicate with them unless you spoke Spanish.
