Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great Staff but pet policy requires smoking room Made reservation on IHG website. Corporate site stated that hotel accepts pets for a small fee, this also printed on my reservation. Thought great can bring our pet for a fee and booked a non-smoking room due to severe allergies to smoke. Upon arrival I notified staff that I would have my pet with me so I could pay my additional fee. The staff then stated that I would have to be booked into a smoking room to accommodate my pet. No where on the corporate site does it state this, had to go to the individual hotel site to see this policy. Since each location is individually owned I had to accept this policy. Thankfully I live an hour and half away, and choose to drive home to sleep, as the smoke smell in the room was horrific and that was after we went and bought air fresher to get rid of smell. If it wasn't for graduation weekend and my daughter had to be there, we would have skipped this visit to hotel. May 26, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Amenities Lack of refrigerator in room was a major concern as we had medications which needed to be kept chilled. Fantastic mattress in which we slept like logs. Coffee brewer was in a rather inconvenient place. Breakfast was more than adequate and a good selection of tasty food. Was not recognized as club member. May 16, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Arrogant Assistant Manager I spend around 85 to 90 nights a year in Holiday Inn Expresses in the North Florida area. I have stayed at the Gainesville property several times the past several years. I was having breakfast and asked the other two people in the breakfast area if they minded if I changed the channel. It was on CNN which no one watches and is a very poor news source. I asked the assistant in the breakfast area to change and she advised it had to stay on CNN. I went to the desk and asked politely if they could change.the channel. There was an Asst. Manager behind the two staff people at the front desk. His name was Carl Harris. He rather arrogantly advised me they wouldn't change the channel. I asked him why and he said. "its policy" I asked whose policy and he just said its policy. What really offended me was his next statement when he arrogantly advised me "I could go to my room and watch another channel." I had an opportunity to spend the next night at this hotel as I was workling in the area, but chose to drive many miles out of my way to stay at the Holiday Inn in Crystal River. Two issues: The arrogance of your assistant manager and the policy if it is such of keeping the channel on CNN which is offensive to me. Put it on local news or weather, but to force guests to watch CNN which has practically no audience versus the other cable channels is just bad business. I may never stay at the Gainesville Property again. Best Regards, May 12, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Loud bottom floor The hotel itself was very nice however the bottom floor where I stayed was extremely loud all night long, including into the very early hours of the morning. Also the bottom floor had a bad smell of smoke but thankfully my room did not smell of smoke. May 7, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad I call the day before to see if i could get upgraded, the guy that answered the phone told me that they do not do upgrades to Gold members, he also told me that his boss told him that he could only upgrade platinum members, I needed the upgrade for the fridge to keep insulin in. I end up paying an extra $10 a day just to have a fridge in the room. I checked in that Sunday afternoon and got to the room and WOW the room smell just like urine but they told me that it had been clean they came in sprayed it and left it alone, I had to go and but some air freshener for the room. The only reason that i did not switch hotels is because the others were booked up I informed my company about it and told them that they do not need to put any more. I told the Manager about the smell and he said that the room was clean. I told the manager about not upgrading members and she said that she would look into it. I will not stay there again and I am in that area 6 times a year for a week at a time. April 17, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Non-smoker stuck in a smoking room I had a poor connection making my reservation for the hotel as the hotel manager said he stated it was a smoking room. It was not until I started walking down the hallway did the stench hit us. The hotel manger did not have another rooms available. I requested some order suppressing spray but unfortunately it only lasted about an hour. We ended up pouring the lotion cream on a hand towel and covering our face to try and get some sleep to no avail. We had to buy bed clothing at our next hotel due to the stench of smoke they picked up. My understanding was that all Holiday Inn Express are smoke free. March 26, 2014

Check-In was very efficient (probably the most efficient check-in I have ever experienced)!. The room was clean and comfortable, I especially liked the ceiling fan in the room! Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Incredible Beds BUT Needs an "Update and Renovate" We have stayed at the Holiday Inn I-75 in Gainesville several times to visit our University of Florida student, mainly because it's the best price in the area with the AAA discount. It's not as close to the campus as other hotels near by, however we love the 3 sheeted beds with the firm and soft pillow combo—always incredibly comforting, excellent for a good night sleep. We used the coin washer and dryer which worked perfectly. We suggest guests ask the front desk to be placed on the parking lot side as the highway noise projects a constant moan even on the 4th floor. The 4th floor is also at eye level with the bright parking lot lights so guests have to keep the curtains closed at night otherwise your room is flooded. We did have a very minor lady bug infestation on the inside window which were behind the curtains. They did not bother us as much as the smell of the bug spray the hotel was using in other rooms to get rid of them. The tub/shower and toilet area are extremely cramped for normal sized individuals. Employees unpacked inventory during the cramped breakfast hour area and house maids although friendly talked loudly in the hallways. We love this hotel however its in need of an "update and renovate" and perhaps a bit more customer service and quality control education for their staff. March 16, 2014

I was impressed with every aspect from the delicious breakfast bar, to the pristine room/bathroom as well as the staff was friendly and helpful. Will not look anywhere else when back in gainesville. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Everything you expect from Holiday Inn Express I have stayed at this location on three separate locations. It is always clean and the staff is always pleasant and helpful. I also appreciate the exercise room near the pool. The only issue I have had is the ironing boards. I always have to iron my clothes when I arrive, and each of the ironing boards I have used was a piece of junk. Twice I have ended up ironing on the floor and once I got frustrated and gave up. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Holiday Inn Express Ever! We stayed one night at this hotel because it was close to the University of Florida Performing Arts Center where we had tickets for a musical. The hotel is excellent -- new, clean, welcoming, and our L-shaped executive suite with 2 queen beds had 2 televisions and a microwave and fridge. The front desk was helpful and the hot breakfast was varied and served in a very pleasant room. I would definitely stay at this hotel again! February 15, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient I like this property because it is convenient to the hwy, restaurants and the business i attend to in the area. The property is fairly new and up-to-date. The only negative item, if you want to call it one, is they do not provide priority club members a snack bag when checking in. I am a platinum member and this is probably the only hotel that does not provide a bag with water and a snack when checking in. February 9, 2014
