I liked the location and the look of this Holiday Inn Express, booked a Queen suite, had a balcony over looking the gulf, fishing pier was to the right, nice view, but don't recommend for swimmers or beach goers . Bathroom lighting was poor , and sleeper sofa was very poor. But would go back , clean nice stay.

Nice room with a view. I travel frequently to Galveston for business so decided to try this hotel for the outstanding rate offered. I didn't so much mind the lack of water pressure but no hot water became a problem on both trips to the shower. Breakfast was a disaster. We invited our kids to enjoy the beach with us and provided their room, which did have hot water. There are lots of choices for the continental breakfast, but the hot food consisted of cold eggs and rubbery sausage that had been so overcooked, it was uneatable. Nobody was ever around to complain to, but staff did emerge one time to run to the egg dump spot and then run back through the door. That person wanted no part of customer service. Wow, did anybody ever think of placing a microwave in the dining room? We looked and looked for it. ...no where to be found. It is hard to imagine this being a Holiday Inn with nobody in sight or in charge of service for the couple of dozen people who wanted a 'good' free Holiday Inn sort of breakfast. My suggestion would be to eliminate the hot foods, if you can't make a decent effort with them.

This hotel has only one restaurant/bar within walking distance, which was so packed when we went, we would have had to queue for so long that we didn't bother.
With this in mind, I would have expected the hotel to offer a bar and restaurant, but it doesn't. This limited my enjoyment of my stay in Galveston because I had to drive anywhere to eat, and hence could not drink alcohol. Not ideal, given I was on holiday.
The gym looked very shabby and only had 3 machines in it, although in fairness, I never saw anybody using any of them. Consistent with the demographic of the resident guests.

Everything was really great and met our needs. The view of the beach was fantastic. Sat out on the balcony in the morning and had breakfast and listen to light traffic and beautiful waves. It was about to storm so the waves were big and beautiful and sounded so relaxing. The only thing we noticed and really didn't care for was the smell of the room when we first walked in was a little "muggie"(normal for a beach room on the gulf cost) ; however, it was an excellent stay and great rate for bring on the beach. I also enjoyed the seagulls and the pigeons that flew all over making some nice music. Good walking distance to shops and restaurants.

Great service but we expected to be able to walk out onto the beach across the street from the hotel. Not hike a1/4 a mile to a beach. Also, how come housekeeping cannot put trash liners in the pails instead of just laying them beside them?

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ms. Wells Comfortable sleep and quiet A/C
It was important for me to find a hotel with a comfortable bed, a quiet A/C and no noisy guests. This one was it.
My room was on the 4th floor and only one of the two elevators seemed to work....took a long while to get up and down.
At times there was a foul lingering odor outside not sure where this came from but it wasn't the ocean.
Overall I was satisfied but will try a different location next time.
