Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Lovely new hotel near the beach We loved our stay at the Holiday Inn Express on the West-Seawall in Galveston. The friendly staff greeted us promptly and sent us to an immaculate,attractive room with a balcony. The next day we enjoyed a delicious free breakfast. Great Value! October 2, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by dirty and smelly Our room smelled of mold/mildew. The carpet had not been vacuumed and had trash on it. The bathroom fixtures had mildew on them and the calking was in horrible shape. I will not return to this hotel. September 30, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding in every way Right close to the water - we could hear the waves (granted, it was windy)! Even the furniture was really nice. And well kept for such a tourist destination, which sometimes gets hard use. We will be back to this suite in the front! Side rooms not quite as close to the water or as direct a view, but less expensive. September 19, 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by loved the hotel and location. very friendly staff We loved this Holiday Inn and the location was great. The only problem i had was that we had a balcony room and only had one outside chair. I called the front desk right after we checked in and requested another chair. The front desk clerk said she didn't know if she had anyone from housekeeping there but she would get me a chair. It never happened. It is not a big deal but chairs on the balcony would be real nice. There were also dead cockroaches behind tv on dresser and on floor . Other than these few things, everything else was great. we will be back September 17, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by HI Express Seawall West A high nightly rate in Galveston is expected, but that rate should result in high quality service. Not at this place. The two nights I stayed there was no TV remote in the room. There was no shower curtain in the bathroom for the tub shower which has no enclosure. The air conditioner was insufficient to handle the humid environment leading to crawling into damp and clammy sheets. Housekeeping did not remove the trash from the room, resupply the coffee service, or install a shower curtain - apparently only made the beds and replaced used towels. Other than the front desk the staff seemed unhappy an annoyed by our presence. The breakfast was limited and poor - no OJ. For the money a customer might expect something a good deal better.
