The need for my stay at the Holiday Inn Express, Charlotte West - Gastonia was on a short notice. They were able to accommodate me with an excellent room, service by staff and complimentary breakfast. I would definitely stay at this hotel should the need arrive in the future. Thank you.

I just want to express how disappointed I was with my stay on Monday night. I stayed in room 310 and upon check in notified the front desk that the A/C was not functioning properly. The first lady who came to my room stated that some A/C units at the hotel are placed on a switch that prevents them from blowing at high speed. A second clerk came to the room and stated this was not the case with our unit. She offered us a fan. I requested another room and was told because the hotel was selling out that night no additional room with a king bed was available. I said we would take a room with queen beds. She called me and offered another room, however, the A/C was not working any better. Therefore, we stayed in 310. The A/C would blow for a minute or two and shut down for 10-15 minutes. The room never stayed cool despite the A/C being set on high and 60 degrees. Needless to say, we experienced a very restless night.
We did not get the value we paid for. I cannot imagine a hotel places controls on units which limits guests from being able to set a comfortable temperature in the room--part of the value one pays for when renting a hotel room.
Sorry to say--very disgusted and disappointed!

Beds where a little hard, internet was slow, however the staff was awesome. I made a mistake in my booking that would have cost me $50, the manager figured out that I made a mistake and brought it to my attention

Hotel clerk was friendly but probably somewhat bored when I checked in. No recognition for IHG rewards, no mention of the outstanding indoor pool which is probably 10 feet away, no mention of breakfast,....nothing. I could have checked myself in to tell you the truth and done a better job....and believe me, I know how to do it at an IHG property. Training is needed.
Room in itself was OK. Shower curtain was odd. Two feet of curtain on the floor on the shower head end and three feet in the air on the other end. Buttons torn. How can someone not notice this? Really? Again, training is needed. Where is the management and supervision for this property?
But,.................. the check-out gal in the morning gave a smile that lasted all day! It did minimize the above observations somewhat, but there are clearly areas that need to be dealt with in this hotel. I only leave these remarks in the hope that management will strive to improve upon the guests' experience.
As it stands right now, my experience was sub-par and I'll drive a few more miles the next time.

Not one of the best Holiday Inns I've visited. Stayed at hundreds of them as well. Room had a damp and musty smell. Will not stay at this HI again.
