Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by OK property , pity about the staff with one exception. The experience of a Platimum Club Member who stays in IHG hotels 100 nights per year. Day 1 Great reception from the gentlemen on desk and very helpful. That man needs rewarding. Evening meal in restaurant was not great choice either a meat or fish dish. Air conditionning was actually pushing warm air into room so no sleep as a result. A request for a fan was rejected by reception in favour of us playing around with the control near the window as we had no other choice. Day 2 Breakfast was a joke. The queue was ridiculous, no tables, coffee machine broke down, staff very unhelpful and off hand. There was a lot of pushing as the serving area was to small for the volume of traffic. We retired to our room to make some tea. Asked at reception for some milk to make tea and was advised coffee creamer was available, milk would have to be purchased from the bar. This was delivered in a non caring abrupt and almost offensive manner - the impression I got was the hotel would operate much better if it was not for the intrusion of paying clients -you will note I have never used the word guest. After protest our helpfull man on reception offered us some milk from the fidge, much to the disgust of his lady colleague. Restaurant in the evening was terrible. The pompous lady "manager" was surly, rude and abrupt . I was told to sit here not offered a choice of table, when this was questioned the rude treatment rose to a new level. I stated clearly that I was not prepared to put up with her attitude which was deeply upsetting my wife. Throughout the meal she continued to discuss this which meant that, all we wanted to do was to get out of the place. In the end she apologised and charged us 50%. However, from my side of this I had paid for an awful experience. I was told on two occasions that the restaurant was either not managed or controlled by the hotel. What that means I do not know. The air conditioning was not fixed resulting in another restless night. Day 3 Breakfast was better as we ate at 7am the queue was shorter - choice was not good . Our Evening meal was wonderful as we ate in the neighbouring hotel . The thirty Euro charge for parking is proposterous - (I did not pay this thankfully- as the machine was broken) . Would I go go back there - if I had the need to be abused it would be my first port of call. Did I waste my points - yes I did. Recognition Of Rewards Club ended with a envelope at check- in . Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Accessible Room We were very comfortable at this hotel for three nights as we explored the surrounding areas during a road trip across northwest Europe. We used the hotel as a base to explore Calais, France, Brugge, Brussels, and Gent. While you have to drive a bit to each of these places, it is better than checking in and out. The free parking near the door for cars with handicapped placards is very thoughtful. The convenience and features of the handicapped accessible room was a plus for us. The restaurant food was some of the best we had on our trip, especially the dessert buffet. This hotel is apparently well-managed because we have nothing but praises for the place. If ever in this part of the world again, we would stay there. August 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by directions The directions state to leave the E17 at exit 9 and the hotel is directly in front of you. It is, but you have to be in the left hand lane to turn left and then right to enter the grounds. If we had known this in advance we would have not incurred the wrath of several drivers as we tried to negotiate the lane changes. August 8, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Only for business Quality room and cleanliness are excellent. However, for a break on a holidaytrip this hotel is not done. The business atmosfere brought us back to normal live, a pity. We as guests had not the feeling that the people were helping us very friendly. They did there job and that was it. I can imagine that for business/ meetings etc it is a good hotel August 6, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Graet value We found the hotel superb and surprisingly reasonably priced. The room was large, airy with plenty of storage space. The staff were excellent, went out of their way to be helpful and give us information as it was our first time in Ghent. Even coming back to us later to make sure the information they had given us had worked out. Breakfast was great with plenty of choice and everything kept topped up. Just wish they had proper cold milk for cereals but this is minor. All in all great place to stay unlike the "posh" Crowne Plaza we moved onto at three times the price. July 17, 2013

We had a meal in the bar and the barman was very attentive and helpful, we had our littl dog with us and he got her some water, nothing was too much trouble. Rooms are clean and spacious. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good business hotel I've stayed in this hotel several times, because of the convenient location close to the motorways. It is spacious, and well maintained. The restaurant is good, and staff is friendly, but waiting times before being served (as a single business traveler) can be very long. The breakfast is basic but good. The overall experience is very positive (with a minus for the restaurant). Recommended for a business trip to the Gent or Aalst area. June 8, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great value for the money Spacious rooms - 2 adults and 2 children(2 and 6) slept conmfortably and there was space for running and playing, nice policy for children (up to 18 years free if they stay in the room of the parents). Furniture is not fancy but it is convenient and looks relatively new. In addition good restaurant with nice breakfast (especially considering the price) and again good policy for children (if a parent pays the dinner buffet children up to 12 eat free). Very friendly and helpful stuff, prepared for all kind of tourist questions, they even have printouts for FAQ. Rooms were perfectly cleaned each day. The hotel is located near the highway so it suited very well our needs as we drove with car to different cities each day. Last but not least - it offer free wifi(with limited speed) and if you want something more for a very reasonable price you can get 100Mbps. Already recommended it to friends. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great helpful staff, good value for money I am staying regularly in this hotel. It has a great, friendly staff and clean, tidy rooms. Unfortunately there is always a problem with the Dutch TV stations. You expect from a hotel in Flanders with a lot of Dutch visitors at least the three public tv stations but most of the time we can only watch one. There is also not one Flemish commercial stations available. If this could be solved the hotel will be even better rated. May 1, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Room OK, food bad Breakfast was a poor selection of the usual cold stuff, but there was no hot food available. Had to sit in the foyer area to eat as the restaurant was reserved for a cycle racing group, for 4 days! Even though the restaurant was open till 10.30 at night, we were not allowed to enter and order a meal at 10.00 as it was too late. We ate the bar food available, the main courses were pasta, which was very poor, with a minimum of sauce. Left a day early.. April 1, 2013

Great location for those travelling with friendly staff. Large (non-Express) sized rooms (was previously a Holiday Inn) make for an extra comfortable stay. comfortable beds with good pillows. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Breakfast choices are always good with plenty of comfortable restaurant area. The attached restaurant is also very good. Always have lovely jewellery on display for sale in the reception area. Looking forward to our next stay. February 4, 2013
