Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Megan12 Poor room
Overall the hotel room was poor. When we arrived we went to use the shower the soap dispensers were half empty and rubbish in the bin. The pull down sofa bed was all springs and not much mattress and very squeaky. We turned the heating up but would not heat which resulted us sleeping in jumpers.Went down for breakfast and had to wait on fresh food because containers were empty. When it finally arrived the kitchen assistant dropped the whole lot of scramble led eggs on the floor which meant we had to wait for more to come and also had to wait for plates and cups. Overall it is not worth the money

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Ran out of breakfast items!!!
Stayed here for a concert i was attending. No vouchers left for discounted car parking so let me use staff car park which was excellent and much appreciated. Later that evening the bar had no ingredients a for a particular drink and then charged £8.44 for a glass of wine & a pepsi!! 4th floor carpet was water stained and had seen better days. Bedroom was comfortable enough and clean, so no issues there. The following morning at 9am i went down for breakfast to be told that there was no sausages or eggs left, a member of staff told me they had used their quota, so it was cereals or beans. Breakfast area was a nightmare, untrained staff, bread, croissants etc everywhere, just a mess, with no one taking ownership of the situation, restaurant staff were foreign and couldnt help myself and other guests who couldnt have breakfast. Very simple, dont advertise a service if you cant provide it, would've taken 10 mins to send someone out for some supplies. In future i'll pay extra and use my normal hotels. Sadly i can't recommend this place.

THE STAFF WERE VERY FREINDLY. THE ROOM WAS VERY CLEAN THOUGH THERE WERE SOME STAINS ON THE CARPET. THE ROOM WAS INITIALLY COLD BUT SOON HEATED UP. THE DUVET WAS SO THICK THAT WE OVERHEATED AT NIGHT. WE ENJOYED BREAKFAST THOUGH IT WAS VERY BUSY. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO HAVE HAD THE OPTION OF BACON. WIFI IS FREE DOWNSTAIRS BUT YOU HAVE TO PAY UPSTAIRS WHICH SEEMS UNREASONABLE GIVEN THE PRICE OF THE ROOM. THE LOCATION WAS FINE BUT THE VIEW FROM THE RESTAURANT WAS OF THE PAVEMENT AND PEOPLE'S FEER RATHER THAN THE VIEW OF THE RIVER THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN AVAILABLE IF THE RESTAURANT WAS ON THE TOP FLOOR RATHER THAN THE GROUND FLOOR.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Yas29 Stained sofa on arrival
The stained sofa on arrival made the our experience slightly unpleasant. The room service on day two was poor with little regards to presentation.
The breakfast choices were not delivered as advertised in particular, there were no cinnamon rolls throughout our stay, no bread rolls on day two and a delay in scrambled eggs. Furthermore, limited choice.
I believe the cost of this service is overpriced and on the second night I was not able to relax due to the sound closing door from hallway.
The view from our window was poor, we were facing a multi storey building.
The staff were friendly and helpful.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Location was great and we had a few nice walks along the riverside. Especially nice at nighttime as all the bridges are lit up.
The room was large and had a fab wet room.
Liked that we were able to open the window and it wasn't too noisy.
Nice little reception/ bar area downstairs that looks out onto the street so nice to watch the world go by.
The price for this room included breakfast and was fantastic!
Room very clean and comfortable and would recommend this hotel for a stay.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Satisfactory stay
I love Glasgow and visit often, though hadn't stayed at this particular HI Express in several years.
I'd requested a quiet room and know from experience this isn't always easy in a city-centre location. The room allocated was at the back of the hotel which was good, but it was also directly opposite the lift outside of which the carpet has been replaced with laminate flooring. This meant it was impossible not to hear people coming and going, sounding like they were Riverdancing across that hard-floor area.
The two girls on Reception (Charlotte and Kriztina (sp?) were extremely pleasant and helpful. There was a kerfuffle regarding car-park permits (in that none were available at that time for the King Street NCP). After trying and failing to locate the alternative subsidised car-park ~ so many 'no right turn' streets in Glasgow! ~ I finally gave up and just paid the £10 for 24hrs in the King Street NCP. A complimentary G&T soon soothed my tattered nerves :)
Overall this was a good stay, not least due to the friendly staff.

Good location, but time for investment in rooms. i.e. Bathroom was looking a bit rough around the edges- mouldy sealant around shower area and grubby shower curtains.
Breakfast ok.. but wish HI would change from Sausages to Bacon on limited cooked breakfast option.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Surnug Great Front office staff and good size family room and bed
We stayed as a family of 4 with one teenage son. The room given to us was of a good size and we were able to move around without falling over one another.
Front office staff, everyone, very helpful and friendly.
Easily among the best hotels I have stayed with family

A girlie night out in Glasgow ended with a comfortable overnight stay.Couldn't fault the cleanliness of the room.
Offering very good value for money, I would definitely recommend this hotel to people I know.
The staff were heipful and friendly and not noisy in the morning.
The only drawback is breakfast- waiting time lengthy for hot food to be replenished.
However plentiful supply of continental buffet foodstuffs.

We are glad to choose this Holiday Inn Express. We stayed totally for more than 7 days, with out-of-Glasgow trips twice in between. But we always felt comfortable to return to the hotel because of the kindness & care by the staff.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by smilerthetiler really friendly and helpful reception staff
What a difference to meet staff who took an interest in you. Friendly, very helpful and fast check in. We cheekily asked for a particular room at short notice and low and behold we got it!! Thank you. Breakfast was well presented and the lady on duty kept food area clean, tidy and full, not an easy task. our room was on the cool side but there was a fault with heating unit which despite prompt attempt to fix would only just heat the room. Not a major disaster though. Overall a really good stay helped by enthusiastic staff.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Pasturesnew Warm welcome, cold room.
The overall impression was good, but for the cold room, the whole of my stay.
I stayed for 3 nights, and on the second morning, a man at reception was going to check on the air conditioning/heating in my room. I had requested this, as the weather was to become colder that day. When I arrived back in my room at night, the fan was on, blowing cold air, and all lights were on. I, again, slept with both duvets over me.
I commented on this when I had to return to reception next morning as the card which had been used by staff the precious day, wouldn't admit me. I was told the "heating" would have been left on to warm the room, hmmm.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Maria1947 Window would'nt fasten.
The window in the room was open as it would'nt fasten, I mentioned it to reception a few times and they said they would send someone to fix it, but nothing happened. We were freezing and when we got home we have both got a cold. Also the fan heating was very poor. Other wise the hotel was good for a city break.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by skyetraveller Handy for city centre & transport links
Stayed here twice within a week, at either end of a trip down south from my home on Skye. Great location for city centre - Argyll Street shops less than two minutes away and both main rail stations are less than 10 minutes walk which is handy if, as I did, you have late arrivals and early departures!
My request when booking online for a quiet room away from traffic was noted both times - rooms at the front of the hotel could be noisy all night. Sadly some hotels don't honour this request so full marks here.
Discount for residents at the next door restaurant is a bonus - food there is highly recommended.
Sadly check in left a lot to be desired both times. The first time the guy was on the phone when I arrived and made no attempt to recognise my arrival or shorten his call, then dealt with a delivery before finally checking me in without any word of apology. The second time I finally reached the front of the queue whereupon the receptionist disappeared to the back office, again without apology or acknowledgement that I even existed, leaving me standing.
Luckily the overnight team who checked me out both times are brilliant - friendly, helpful and cheerful even at 3.30am, in fact everything the day team are not!
Good value for money, standard HI Express rooms and I'd stay here again, but don't expect a welcome - unless you arrive in the middle of the night!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Sue38 Great location but in need of refurbishment
Fantastic central location, great for Argyll Street.
We stayed for 2 nights and slept well, it was just a shame that the room was so tired.
The room itself was clean but the sofa should have been replaced 2 years ago. There were holes in the plasterwork, 2 out of 3 lights didn't work, the hair dryer didn't work and there was no plug within reach of the mirror.
