Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Always Stay Some of the staff can be cold but we all have bad days. Others go out of their way to accommodate my family!!!! The outside renovations are beautiful and we cannot wait to see them complete. We stay here every time we drive through to go shopping or head to Moab. GREAT LOCATION! August 21, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel under construction The entire front of the hotel was covered with scaffolding, plastic sheeting, lots of construction workers and the associated noise. We couldn't even see out our window. I would have expected a "Pardon Our Dust" sign and a discount for the inconvenience and noise. The next time we come across a hotel in a similar situation we will opt to drive further to another facility. As a second note, a hotel in Colorado that doesn't carry Root Sports TV station to receive the Rockies game is not very supportive of the area team. August 18, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Truley Outstanding Hotel I have stayed at several Holiday Inns and Express. My stay at the Grand Junction Holiday Inn Express was over and beyond. I felt very comfortable there, kind of like it was a home away from home. The first thing I notice was the staff made me feel like very welcomed. They where friendly, polite and genuinely enthusiastic. This was not just when I checked in but every time I walked through the door. The breakfast was wonderful. The choices met my wants and nutrition values. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone who is passing through the area, either business or family vacation. The location is outstanding as well. Just a short drive to the airport, walking distance to a couple good restaurants and a movie theater next door. August 5, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Fell short of expectations... Arrived about 1830 on Sunday, 30 June to find a long line at the check-in desk. Only 1 very frustrated clerk was working, trying to make sense of some U/I system errors that prevented her from assigning rooms. After about 20-22 mins in the queue, my turn came. I had booked a room, I thought, using a combo of Reward Points and cash. When checking-in I requested a roll-away bed. The clerk said the room I booked wasn't authorized a roll-away but she would take care of it. (I mentioned that I stayed at the HIE in Cheyenne a week earlier, which was owned by the same franchisee, and it was okay in Wyoming, but not in Colorado?# After much ado, she booked us in a 1 BR suite but told me she'd been forced to "cancel" my reservation, but that if I contacted the rewards office, she was sure they could take care of it on Monday. I sent an e-mail to the IHG rewards club that no reply. But wait...there's more. Monday morning came and we went to the breakfast area at 0910...selection was meager and we had to wait for a table. By the time we got a table and went up for food, the pancake machine was off, cooling down. Breakfast was supposed to run until 0930...but the server said she was sorry but she would start putting things away promptly at 0930. Unreal. #The breakfast attendant's attitude in Cheyenne was "as long as customers were in the area eating, she would keep the breakfast area open....# After breakfast the kids wanted to go for a swim, but when we got down to the pool, a sign on the door said it was closed due to "fecal contamination." Our three kids generally like to kill some time swimming...not here. We awoke Tuesday around 0720 to the clatter of a construction crew unloading scaffolding off a semi-truck flatbed for a roof repair. The view of the Colorado National Monument was awesome, contrasted by the beauty of the 18 wheeler junkyard situated immediately behind the hotel. Nice. It was more of the same at breakfast on Tuesday but we went earlier. The attitude of the breakfast server was still terrible, but it's not her fault -- the staff at this hotel was not on par with the staff in Cheyenne. Chalk that up to poor local training and poor management follow-through. And, while the pool was re-opened, no one wanted to swim in the "brown water." At check-out I found that we would be charged full price. The IHG rewards club POCs never contacted the hotel, or me, so...I'm still waiting for the IHG investigation to close...or at least for IHG to refund some 30,000 points and apologize for their SNAFU. Given how many times I've been called thus far, I might be waiting for a long while. Back to the Tuesday check-out...I wasn't happy about being hosed but we had to depart. I requested that the manager call me when he/she got in...on my cell. Guess what? No call. After staying two days in Cheyenne at their HIE near I-80, followed later in the week by two days at this HIE in Grand Junction, there was no comparison...the Grand Junction HIE fell far short of our expectations. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by I am suppose to be a Rewards Club Member I was offered nothing when I checked in as a rewards member, in fact they did not even acknowledge me as a rewards member. They gave me a room over looking a JUNK YARD, in fact I had stayed at 3 different HI and I was given the same room # in all 3, Room 303. When I made my reservation I requested a "quiet" room, when I was in Cheyenne they put us on the side of the hotel where the train tracks were and all night a freight train kept going by keeping us awake, when I mentioned it the next morning to the desk clerk they said "is there anythng I can do" instead of offering an appology and offering to adjust the bill or something it was already too late to change rooms or do anything about a lost nights sleep. We had a nice, clean room, comfortable bed and the pool was nice and very clean. Slept well so either we were so tired from our road trip we heard nothing or it was actually quiet. Quiet is very hard to come by most times in hotels/motels. Staff was very friendly as well. July 4, 2013

The on-line sites were not reliable with the short time I had to work with so I was dialing for rooms. Then I remembered my membership with Holiday Inn. I looked up the number and called the reservation group. They said they were able to take care of our needs with the "LAST ROOM AVAILABLE". What great service at a time I really needed Great service. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not pleasant I have stayed at many different HIE and this was probably the most unpleasant of them all. I booked my room on the computer under the government rate. When I arrived the lady working behind the counter said that rate did not apply to me because I was state and not federal. I tried to explain to her that I was both but since my credit card said Colorado that she had to charge me for the federal rate which was 14 dollars higher. I have never been told that there was a difference before. I spoke with the manager the following morning and she told me that the government rate is a flat rate and there is no difference that the per diem had gone up. I don't understand how I was able to book the room at one price and than on check find out it was 14 dollars more. The manager adjusted it for me, but had she not I was not approved for anymore than the government per diem. The staff was not very friendly at all this is a first out of all of the HIE's I have stayed at. June 12, 2013

However, we were treated so poorly by the front desk staff even Guest Relations at the Holiday Inn 800 number was surprised the Friday evening May 17, 2013 manager was so inflexible and rude. The Holiday Inn Suites staff also spoke with this manager and agreed how rude she was. I would highly recommend staying at the Holiday Inn Suites instead near the airport. Much, much better staff for the same room rate. May 21, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed, nice pool, friendly staff My grandson commented that his bed at this (his favorite) hotel is much more comfortable than his one at home! We both find something we like at the breakfast buffet, although I do wish you had soy or almond milk. He loves the pool, and this hotel is near all the best shopping and restaurants for this region (mall, discount stores, etc.). Since this community serves as the "city trip" for the surrounding rural areas, it makes for a great getaway where kids are happy and adults can take care of business. I am a priority club member, and I am recognized as such. The views are not ideal, so I can't say the hotel has "atmosphere" but it is comfortable, has an attractive interior, and feels very safe. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It doesn't get better in Grand Junction It is hard to beat a newly remodeled hotel. But when you add in the service and amazing breakfast they include, you just can't find anywhere else to compete. This property just remodeled and they have discounts at the 50 odd restaurants that surround it. Service is amazing. They let me check in at 11 am (3 pm is standard). Got bonus points for mentioning their Facebook post. From morning to night, the staff is great. Smiles, directions, advice...whatever you need they are happy to help. I have been a Prioirty Club member for over 7 years and I have not remember a nicer hotel that I have stayed at. Sure some have had minor things (PC floor, Concierge, etc) but in a whole this is hands down the best. And to top it off, all PC members get a goodie bag (Water, trail mix, chocolate) at check in.
