Although I've stayed in many, many Holiday Inn Expresses, this is the first time I've encountered 2 problems:
1) None of the hot, delicious cinnamon rolls we look forward to at breakfast - part of the Holiday Inn Express advertising, and part of our reason for staying there rather than Hampton Inns; and
2) The manager was a perfectly lovely woman and very helpful in getting us a quiet, end-of-the-hall room, but the other 2 people working the front desk were not in any uniform/shirt, but dressed poorly and unprofessionally. They also were soooooo slow at checking people in. Thank heavens the manager was there to help, although it didn't seem to speed things up at all.
Probably wouldn't recommend it, unless you have young children and are excited about an in-house waterpark.

I am usually not one to complain about things, but the recent check in was anything but pleasant. I have always been greeted as being a priority member at every other holiday inn express that I have stayed at. However, at this stay, I was not even granted the acknowledgement of being a member. I also had preferences for a first floor room, but was not even provided that courtesy (3rd floor). In truth, I seem to be an interruption to the person's day. This poor experience, in my opinion was a rare occurrence and I will continue to stay at Holiday Inn as I truly enjoy the hotels and great customer service

The pride of "ownership" in this hotel by the employees is very evident. The entire hotel is very clean, organized, and everyone is eager to help!
We have 3 young children aged 10,7, and 3 and the waterpark feature is OUTSTANDING for letting the kids work off some steam after being cooped up in the car all day! The waterslide is FAST, and allowed the kid to come out in mom and dad too.
All in all, a great hotel and one we would be very happy to stay in again if we're back in the area!

I stayed 3 nights at this hotel on a business trip. I was a little concerned about the noise level when I saw the attached water park/swimming pool but I had no issues at all and I was only a few doors from the entrance to the pool area. The room was very comfortable, the staff was friendly, and the breakfast offers way more options than the standard breakfast I've had at other hotel chains. Very happy with this hotel. I've never stayed at a bad Holiday Inn.

I was very pleased with all of the staff from the managers to the maintenance associates. My family and I were greeted with a smile. The rooms were very spacious and clean! I would definitely recommend this location. It was also easily accessible to the local highways in which I found to be easy to get from one place to the next.

It started out great,but then I was moved due to ants,I was put on the fourth floor where I was up until after 3am due to people in the hallways laughing and going in and out of their room allowing the doors to slam. The room I requested was 1st floor away from noise. When I was moved they brought me a cart to move all my stuff. Yah not happy at all. The room we were put in was clean until we moved he chair and there was garbage under it,and my 1 yr old grandson decided to pick it up and attempted to put it in his mouth. I took it but still not happy.

From the moment we called to book the reservation til the moment we left the property we were treated with the utmost courtesy, respect, care and service. The staff was not only excellent with customer service but was happy to help with anything we needed. The GM even gave my kids some ice creme as we were on our way out as a way to say thanks. The room was very nice and had alot of upgrades I never expected to see at an Express. We had a nice flat screen TV in the room with USB, HDMI hook-ups and great picture quality. The bathroom had two levels of lighting for night time and for my wife to do her hair and makeup. The bed was something manufactured from a cloud and memory foam, it was pure utopia. The room was clean and smelled fresh. The complementary breakfast buffet was so shocking at the selection. Fresh cinnamon rolls, doughnuts, cereal, muffins, eggs, biscuits & gravy, sausage, pancakes, bagels, fresh fruit, an assortment of beverages. Just blew me away! The water park was second to non in West Michigan. The pictures don't do it justice. There's an entire area just for the little ones, a lap pool for the adults, hot tub, whirlpool and double figure eight water slide that had to be 30' tall. It's super fast and kept my five year old son and I busy for hours. Additionally, we were able to play in the water park for an additional three hours after check-out. Fresh pool towels anytime you needed them and full locker room style restrooms close by the change and shower off. This hotel was simply amazing and a wonderful get away for the weekend. We most certainly be back very soon! Thank you to the entire staff for making our stay memorable. Coming from someone who has worked in Hotels for over 8 years I can tell you that it's a hard product to sell. After all you're not selling a product, but rather an experience. Thanks for making ours a memorable one.

I had checked into the hotel for 1 night on May 14th, seemed pleasant and quiet. Went to my room to relax, and unwind, threw a tissue from blowing my nose in the toilet around 7:30PM, flushed the toilet and it began to fill up and over flow. I quickly grabbed all of my towels to throw on the floor to soak up the large amounts of water coming from toilet. I tried using the hotels phone to dial the front desk, but no answer, tried again, still no answer. Becoming annoyed I walked downstairs to the front desk, and was greeted by the owner. I explained the problem with the room and was told "I'm sorry there are no more rooms available, but follow me". He takes me down the hall to a closet where they store the pool towels, and begins to fill up my arms with towels. We then head to my room and he begins tossing towels onto the floor. He then states at approximately 8:05PM that housekeeping will come up and clean the towels up and I will have to use the bathroom on the 1st floor, but he will give me 300 bonus points. Wow a whole 300! So I sit in my room and wait, and wait, and wait some more. Finally at 9:45PM I have become tiresome of waiting for staff to come and clean the bathroom. I walk back downstairs to find a different set of hotel staff. I explained to them what all had happened and they were shocked. They also explained that the owner had left for the evening and never mentioned that cleaning had to be done. The nice young man said he would be up to clean the bathroom him self. He knocked on the door around 10PM with a new set of room keys for the room across the hall. I was shock as I was told there were no more rooms by the owner.
On top of the poor service by the owner, and never receiving any points or dollar compensation from this hotel, I will give this establishment a 1 star since half stars are not available. Guess platinum status didn't help at this hotel either.

This Holiday Inn has a great waterpark that our grandkids love. They beg us to take them for the weekend and stay at the "hotel with the waterpark". Hotel staff are fantastic and the free breakfast has such a variety for both adults and kids. This was our second stay at this location but certainly not our last. Great during the winter months so the kids can have a fantastic weekend away from their moms and dads and just have fun with Nana and Papa! Hotel Manager is very friendly and accommodating and the kids just love him. Thank you so much for a great stay.

We had a very nice stay. Having a fridge & microwave in our room was very helpful. The room was quiet & the staff were all very accommodating. When I mentioned I have to avoid gluten, they offered suggestions & helped me find restaurants where I could order gluten-free. I hope to go back with our grandkids so they can enjoy the water slide.

We had a great experience staying at this hotel with our 2 little ones. The staff was great & accommodated our every request. We did a last minute booking & when we got there they had apparently over booked the room we booked so they upgraded us for no extra charge. This was great!! We have 2 babies under 2 years old so this made things so much nicer for us as we had more room for everything & they even brought us a pack n play (as we had only brought 1 along). Then in the morning, we somehow got the time of breakfast mixed up & went down to eat breakfast when they had JUST closed it. I went up to the front desk & asked if we could at least get something for our 19 month old & she was quick to bring me in the eating area & offer anything there still was out. The gentlemen who was cleaning up in there was also very nice & kept everything out & didn't rush us at all (although I'm sure he wanted to get his job done). Lastly, I had asked for a late check out so we could have one last swim in the morning with our kiddos & they were very accommodating & allowed us to check out an hour later. We appreciated the service at this hotel very much. All the staff we had interaction with were amazing. We will definitely be back sometime! Thank you!

The hotel amenities were great (i.e., breakfast, pool facilities), but the bed and staff disappointed us. The beds (the pillows, in particular) were not to the standard we are accustomed at other HI Express properties. The staff belittled us about petty rules (children in hot tub, shoes at breakfast) on more than one occasion. I would go back because of the quality of the pool for my kids' sakes, but I was not pleased overall.

Great for the younger kids. My preschooler loved being able to hang out in the water for hours. My kids weren't tall enough to do the slide, so I can't say about that. Busy, but not too busy. Highly recommend for families.

We checked in the electronic key would not work on our door. Warren the maintenance man had a new lock and keys ready in a matter of minutes. The rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful for anything we needed. It was clean and comfortable. My son had a great time at the water park and in the Jacuzzi in the room.

We have made it a yearly tradition for my daughters' birthday to stay at the hotel for a friday night in lieu of having a birthday party. It has been a wonderful choice and we all enjoy ourselves. The only thing the girls get bummed out about is Saturday morning we check out at 11 and the big slide is suppose to open at 10am, but it never opens in time for them to get a couple trips on it!! Otherwise, this is a great hotel with great service.

The water park was very loud, noisy, echoed badly -- loud music playing, along with the kids/adults, and water noises. Our Jacuzzi tub had long black hairs in the bottom -- did someone forget to clean? The Jacuzzi tub plug didn't keep the water in, so that drained out (used it after I cleaned it out.# Also, the bathroom tub didn't drain well, so we were standing in 2 inches of water during showers. I think the rest was all OK, but nothing grosses me out more than someone else's hair left in the bathroom or tub. Oh, and when I asked for extra towels #for our grand daughters who were in with my daughter and her hubby), they wanted me to turn in my dirty/wet towels first.

Overall we had a fabulous time. The pool size was perfect for our toddlers. Between our two families we had 5 kids between 18 months and 6 years. I will also say that this was the cleanest hotel we have been in, maybe ever. I loved it. The breakfast is large too. It wasn't just muffins and coffee/juice. It was a varied selection each day, which really put a positive note to the start of the day!!
***This review is given AFTER an awful experience with our first booking and in the end being forced to cancel the reservation (they didn't actually have the space for us, even though I booked through the 800 number)....and the entire trip. This was planned trip #2, 14 months later.
The major issue I had was that when we checked in, the employee at the front desk swiped my card twice. This caused my bank to hold 2x the room charge, and 2x the deposit for the entire stay....which was our entire budget for the trip, so we stayed in and didn't get to get out of the hotel to dine out or explore other attractions. This was a HUGE bummer, it was just human error, but I wasn't made aware of it. Luckily I checked my bank online and found out, or I would have been overdrafting left and right. I thought that they should have been more concerned about this than they were the two times I made a complaint to the front desk, but since the kids had such an awesome time I just let it go. We also called twice for replacement towels, but none ever came. So, in the end, no big deal.
Would I stay again? My kids will probably convince me. Do I like the reservation/check in staff? No. I feel like they don't have enough knowledge to do the job properly, but that is just because I have had two separate, major issues.

What a great weekend we had! We spent two nights at the HIE with our three sons, wives and eight grandchildren. As requested we had four rooms together at the end of the hall, with the two queens in each room. The rooms were spacious and very clean and comfy. The grands loved the waterpark. Parents loved that there were several lifeguards walking arouind the pools at all times and we could see all the kids no matter what area they were playing in (kiddie area, slide, bigger pool). It was very quiet at night for the little ones who went to bed earlier. You would never know that the hotel was filled to capacity. The breakfast area was very busy both mornings but the well- staffed crew kept the food coming, tables were cleaned immediately for the next family and there was nothing that was empty or run out of. We hope to return again for more family fun!

Horrible place to stay.The overall hotel is what you would expect, respectable amenities, nothing great, but not run down, but I wasn't able to relax. The hotel was decided to have a conference on a Tuesday night during the week, with attendees congregating on the 2nd floor throughout the hallways and stairways. This went on way past 9pm at night, so loud nobody could sleep. I called the hotel staff a couple times, but they didn't really care and did nothing about it. About an hour later, one of those attendees tripped an emergency alarm which easily woke up the entire hotel. Asked to speak to someone in management about the issue, nobody would call me back. Spoke to a manager the next day, he didn't really care about it, and i got the feeling this was a regular occurrence.
Not going to stay there again!!

Very noisy. Large heater cover falling off wall. Lamp on bedside table falling apart. Person on duty not concerned that we had a bad stay. Tub wouldn't plug so I couldn't take a bath.

I decided to have my daughters bday party at this hotel for their "waterpark". Their waterpark consists on a water slide, kiddie area, very small portion of swimming pool was for swimming and a hot tub. But I got over that, however the lifeguards are worthless!!!! My neices kept getting pushed over by kids slidding down the middle of the kiddie sildes and when I went to talk to the lifeguard about it, he turned his head the other way. How unbeliveablely rude!!!! Not to mention the two rooms I reserved for the party were already paid for ahead of time, at check-in they charged me for a 3rd room because I didn't bring my bank statement stating I already paid for the rooms. Ok so I'll deal with that, however because they charged me for that 3rd room it was taken out of my account so I had no money. I called Holiday Inn, spoke w/ the general manager who after 8 days of waiting for my money stated it wasn't their fault. She failes to realize that if they wouldn't have charged me for an extra room, my bank account would not have been overdrawn. And to all this headache, I get half off one room at a hotel I will never go back to. Wow......thats some customer service right there.

I made reservation through the 800 number and specifically asked if the pool area was free. It is not. Only free for two people per room. This property has tried to correct the error at central booking to no avail. The manager was called and took care of the problem without a hitch. We only used the facility for 1 1/2 hours with our granddaughter and her mom and dad and went out for dinner. The property is clean and the staff friendly. The water park is well cared for.

Our family stayed here after a nice time at Michigan Adventure. Thought that I would reserve a room with a few extras. We were to have a room with a pizza and soft drink package. Our original package had stated that we would be getting 2 12inch one topping pizzas and 4 cans of soft drinks. The reservation stated for us to contact the front desk with our selection of beverages and pizza topping choice. Well, let's just say.... They didn't have a Clue! We got one pizza delivered to our room and a 2 liter soft drink bottle that must have been older than our daughter, who was three. My husband went to the front desk and they tried to fix things. They delivered 4 can soft drinks (which was the original offering) The second pizza never arrived. She stated that she thought I didn't want it. Really? Why would I reserve and pay extra, for a package that I didn't want???? Well, on our way then, we left. We usually thoroughly enjoy our stays with Holiday Inn. We were not very satisfied with a hotel offering a package and the staff not being trained on the specifics of it. We did enjoy the water park, which was very nice. The room was comfortable.
