Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Rhia1299 Great Location, Hotel
Great Location for a very unique town. There are many great restaurants within walking distance. My room was very clean and modern with an extensive list of tv channels. I also felt very safe within and around the hotel, which is the most important feature for me.
The one and only issue I had was the Customer Service Rep working the front desk during the daytime. G******* was so incredibly rude and I felt that my calls to locate my left behind blouse were only annoying to her. My 1st call to the facility was at 9:00am the morning I checked out but I was told that I would not be contacted until the following day when Housekeeping checked in their lost items. During my 2nd call to the facility (after she had not returned my call 2 days earlier), I actually heard her sighing when I asked if my blouse had been located. I was actually discouraged from calling for a 3rd time and will just take it at a loss that I will never get my blouse back although I called before Housekeeping could have made it to my room. The other employees were a pleasure but G******* was not great, may need additional customer service training.

What a wonderful touch to a great stay; an evening relaxing with drinks provided by the Holiday Inn Express.

Overall my stay at this Holiday Inn Express was delightful. Staff are friendly and helpful. The room was clean. One staff member who attends the bar one evening suggested I not sit at the bar, then let two other people sit there. I found that objectionable. Maybe they were her friends. All other staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a bench near the entry where smokers sit and smoke. This can mean an odorous entry into the hotel. Once past the front doors, this isn't a problem, but it is an obnoxious how-do-you-do.

This is a nice, clean, newer hotel and they offer breakfast, and weekend cocktails, which is good. That being said, I do feel their prices are very high, especially considering they do not have a pool or spa . They do have a small workout room.
There isn't a lot of choice in Grass Valley, so I guess they figure they can ask for more.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by JRandSueEllen Responsive, clean, very convenient location
We stayed two nights, husband and I traveling with adult son. Have stayed there before. This time we got a suite; two queen beds, sofa sleeper, coffee table, table and 3 chairs, one other larger chair for sitting, a couple table and floor lamps. A neat extra sink at microwave, coffeemaker and fridge set-up. Also wall hairdryer. Quite nice, actually, with good room for food and food supplies you might want to bring. There was one 3-drawer dresser (a little tight for 3 people and all we brought, but we managed) and a yard's worth of open-closet for wardrobe. There's an ironing board and iron in there too.
Unfortunately, on the first night, our neighbors were drinking and had multiple people in room. Woke us up 330am. We knocked on door, and they said they'd lower things, but they were in no mind to understand what that actually meant. A call to the desk resulted in a good response, and we could sleep. The next night was better, still low men's voices, but no drinking, and they cut it down fine by sleep time.
Wall airconditioners under the window are controlled by a wall thermostat on the other side of the room. With one member who has asthma, the position of the second bed closest to the window was too breezy.. So we positioned the sofa cushions near it to divert the air from blowing too close to the bed. Worked out just fine. The windows open up so you can get that beautiful outside air too.
Staff were very nice, no matter the issue. Breakfast was handy in the lobby. Hardboiled eggs in the fridge, fresh whole fruit, and a whole grain cold cereal was great.. No plain yogurt, just flavored. People loved the more traditional stuff we don't eat...fresh automated pancake cooker (real cute), scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage gravy, biscuit, bagel selections, racks of sweet rolls and danishes...lots of nicely tended things to choose from. Coffees, teas, cocoa mix, oatmeal packets, Some homemade cookies on a covered plate at night with some whole fruit next to it. Oh, and a limited bar window that gave us all a free glass of wine. There's a pretty good sized vending room near the desk where you can buy more beverages (alcohol and not) and things on off hours.
Walking distance to Ralph's and downtown area.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel property. The check in was seamless and the staff was friendly and helpful.
The room was very well appointed and clean.
The breakfast exceeded our expectations with many choices and the food was displayed nicely, the area was clean and inviting.
We also enjoyed the manager's reception and the wine was quite good.
Very fine stay overall and we will enjoy going back to this location!
