bad idea to have a outdoor pool and hot tub in the fog. also the floor that we were on didn't have a secure door to the out side. the breakfast room way to small a lot of guest had to wait for a table. the motel is old and needs to be up dated. the staff was friendly

We stayed here on a sold out weekend ( Pismo car show), but still found our room to be quiet and comfortable. The hotel itself is older and the furnishings a little dated, but the staff is always friendly and accommodating--they are this property's best asset. The convenience of being able to eat at AJ Spurs without driving is also a plus. The breakfast buffet was well stocked with good selection, but seating at prime time is crowded. The pool is short on lounge chairs and big on families, so if you are counting on relaxing by the pool, probably should check somewhere else.

I stayed here two nights for business trip, June 2014. It's not along the cliffs like several others but it's less than a minute off 101. It's about a 5 minute drive to the pier and downtown and minutes from a couple of big box stores if you forgot something for your stay. There is an In-n-Out Burger nearby as well. I would definitely stay again.

Good overall experience.
The property was a bit older than I was expecting and could use some updating. But the service was great, the rooms clean and the beds comfortable. Price was not inexpensive, but comparable with other hotels in the area.

I have stayed at this property many times over the years. The reason is that the property manager/owner continues to improve the quality of service and the property. It is always fresh, clean and has an attentive staff. Although it is situated near a freeway, it is quiet and sleep quality is terriffic. This property should be the example of all Holiday Inn Express locations in the country.

I like this place, but had a clunker experience in early June.
Guests: if you like a quiet room, make sure you say non-freeway side. It took two changes to get it right as the staffer at the desk did not understand what away from freeway meant, and I had to change a second time.

The hotel is laid-out rather nicely (though I got confused when I pulled in because I came in from a different entry way). But I've stayed at other H/I Express that offered HD programming and even offered microwave ovens at no extra cost, and offered larger refridgerator. The reason for my observation was because I was going to stay longer than overnight.
The breakfast was quite nice with plenty of offerings. They offered coffee full time in the lobby (later in the afternoon it was cold, though).
The Staff was friendly enough, the room was comfortable, but you could hear people in the hall way (the room door doesn't seal properly).
Overall, it was a nice stay.

Lacksluster staff (doing you a favor to do their jobs?), the AC was terrrrible, i.e. the remote with multiple switches. I got it to work for 5 minutes, then all night I just sweat in misery. The room and hallway had flies, and I have never had a smellier room. Could you douse the room in Air freshener any more? No...you cannot...it is impossible.
Also, I never realized before staying here how much I appreciate cleaning staff NOT leaving their carts in the middle of the hall. Side shuffling past a cleaning cart with bags and clothes in the other hand is not easy. Thanks to every other hotel that gets it right.
I'll say some of the morning staff seemed more pleasant than the evening staff. Was wondering is there was any hospitality in this hospitality industry anymore.
Also, I dont know if its customary or not to give something to IH Reward memebers or its just the hotels that appreciate their regular customers, but the last 2-3 HIExpresses Ive stayed at do nothing, and others do something. A reception, a water bottle, a welcome bag. Nothing again. The economy must be lagging still.

Stayed 2 nights previously with a competitor in the same class - Holiday Inn was a world of difference - better room, cleanliness, freshness, staff, etc.
We realize you cannot do anything about location, but it was tricky to find and even more trick to enter safely - especially coming from the West to East - The driveway is hidden until the last and traffic from behind is moving fast. maybe a sign would help

We enjoy staying at this hotel. On this visit there was no hot water at night. I reported it, a man came to check and then said he would get it fixed. The next morning the water was nice and hot. On check out, I asked what had happened and was told it was a boiler problem. A plumber came and worked during the night to fix it. Now that is good service!!!

We enjoyed this hotel and it was affordable and in a great location. The staff were super helpful, kind and gave us free bottled water so we were equipped for our long hike nearby. The only issue I had was our window overlooked the main driveway into the hotel and there were quite a few noisy motorcyclists revving their engines early on Sunday morning. We don't get to sleep in much in our regular weeks, so we were disappointed that they just sat there revving and roaring.
Other than that, it was great.

Second time at this Hotel.
My first experience was okay,rooms are dated, building in need of attention (renovation)
Well,careful what you wish for! This second time around the Hotel was going through renovation,Great!
Except ; they placed me in the building that was being worked on (Dusty, NOISY from early morning on) the noise and equipment made it impossible to get good sleep.
overall,This Hotel is a good value, Hotel Staff is pleasant and attentive.

I am thinking about relocating to the area, and the staff was very helpful with advice about the region. Breakfast as good as any HIE I have stayed in. Bed was very comfortable. Only negative is no fitness center.

We have stayed here many times. But I must say this stay was not good. We were in room 336, which is right above the back door of A.J. Spurs and also next to Oak Park Ave. The noise level was very high. I will return to this hotel in the future but will not accept a room in the south building. The north building is where you want to be. Also being a Priority Club member I expected a little more than a "we have your number on file" greeting. A bottle of water would have been nice.
