Paris is one of the most beautiful and captivating cities in the world, but its sprawling layout and numerous districts can make it daunting to navigate. Ask the friendly front desk staff at your Paris hotel for pointers. It’s also a good idea to plan ahead before you book one of our Paris hotels; your travel itinerary may dictate what side of the river you should stay on.
Traditionally, the Right Bank has been the more affluent side of Paris. You’ll find the largest concentration of historic homes and mansions here, especially in Le Marais, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Paris. A hotel in the Right Bank is an excellent choice for business travelers. La Défense (the city’s primary business district) and Bourse de Paris (Paris Stock Market) are located here, and the storied Paris Opera house and Moulin Rouge are but a short walk away. You’ll also find the Louvre Museum, Tuileries Gardens and Arc de Triomphe in the Right Bank, as well as Champs-Elysées Avenue, the most famous street in Paris for both its beauty and boutiques.
Once the home of Paris’ greatest authors and artists, the Left Bank has long been considered the more bohemian side of the river. However, an influx of high-end apartments, fashion houses and restaurants has made La Rive Gauche just as upscale as La Rive Droite. The Latin Quarter, with its village-like setting, lively atmosphere and selection of bistros, is a favorite among our Paris hotel guests. It’s also the home of the Sorbonne and the Pantheon. Round out your tour of the Left Bank with a visit to the biggest attraction of them all - the Eiffel Tower! The view is best observed at night when the City of Lights truly earns its name.
Of course, this is only a small sampling of what the city surrounding our Paris hotels has to offer. The Paris Métro provides clean and efficient transportation; however, Paris is a town best discovered on foot, and our hotels in Paris make it easy to explore the unique shops, charming bistros and trendy cafes found along the Parisian streets. Don’t be surprised if you walk several miles in one day!
