We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn Express to enable us to visit family close by. The room was very clean and comfortable and the staff were very professional. We will certainly stay there again.

Very clean hotel in a pleasant area. Nearby canal has good restaurants and a pub. Sainsburys is 2 minutes drive away. Ideal stay prior to Harry Potter visit. Breakfast is ideal at no extra cost.
Perfect for families who don't want to spend a fortune on a one or two night stay. Would stay there again.

The service and hotel is good. The staff are very good and I cannot praise them enough.
I am totally disappointed by the priority club set up is pathetic and needs sorting out. I/we will take our business away if its not sorted out quickly.

We spent one night at the hotel over the easter break. The toilet smelt foul as if it had not been cleaned properly. There was a lot of noise during the course of the night too, which kept us awake. tried to use the phone in room but out of order. Would not return. We complained on checking out, but no offer of a partial refund or anything. They had our money up front when I booked so I don't think they were too bothered what we thought !

I have stayed in this hotel in past with an average stay.
But I have to say the staff that I encountered on this stay were exceptional ! I have been a Club member for 10 years and this has been one of the best. They excelled well done

Great hotel , quiet and comfortable , good range of breakfast food, comfortable lounge / bar area . Good pub across from the car park (The Paper Mill) serving great bar food at reasonable prices. Free car parking with plenty of spaces . Comfortable and spacious rooms where you can open the windows if you wish

This is the second time I have visited this hotel and again I was dissapointed. The staff are very polite and accomodating, the room is pretty much a "standard" room, nothing special, but equally nothing to complain about. Food is very poor (I suggest you eat out as there are several restaurants within 200m of the hotel) and breakfast is dire. Although the room was clean, tidy and adequate, on each night I was woke up by sounds which can only be described as someone playing the drums with pots and pans (I assume this was something rattling in the pipework) and I was not the only one to be woke by this, across several floors !.
Stayed here before, and gave it a second chance due to it being close to the train station and surrounding amenities. Won't be giving it a 3rd chance !!!

We booked to stay here as a family (2 adults and 2 under 6) on a visit to the local ski centre. The room was very reasonably priced and the standard of the hotel far exceeded expectations. Modern decor, good facilities and a very pleasant breakfast. Great value for money and wouldnt hesitiate to return.

Our room was noisy (fan noise coming from outside the room). Breakfast was a very poor service. No staff available so during breakfast they ran out of bread, no knives, no cups, the toaster did not work and the trolley for leaving your plates etc was overflowing
just not what I expect as a gold member

Quite a pleasant stay but bit disorganised during breakfast, kept running out of cutlery, crockery and food; this was put right as fast as the staff could though. This could have been due to the majority of guests picking the same time to eat.

Clean, modern hotel ideally situated for this part of Herts - St Albans, Kings Langley, Watford &c. Apsley station is just across the road with regular service into London Euston.
While the hotel is typical of Express HIs, which do have their limitations. This one has a friendly & obliging staff, good management & efficient in all respects.

I always look forward to staying here because of the lovely herby sausages they have for breakfast. I stayed in Canterbury the night before and their sausages were nowhere near as good. Mind you I often stay at the HIXpres in Arras and the free breakfast there is magnificent; there are cold meats, cheeses, an egg boiler, an orange press etc, so you have a long way to go to catch up with our Froggy cousins. It’s rare to get a twin bedded accessible room in a HIX and the ground floor one here in Hemel is excellent. The down side is the way the disabled car spaces are 90% filled by non blue badge holders. Well must go, keep the sausages coming.

I stayed at this hotel for the third time and it didn't disappoint. The hotel is easy to find, has free parking now (which is a great bonus), the rooms are spacious, warm and comfortable. I would, as ever, prefer larger bath towels, but they were clean and the bathroom/shower was nice. There was little noise even though the hotel is on a main road which meant a good nights sleep. Breakfast was very welcome, with both continental and hot options although I would still prefer some bacon!
Overall a great experience and would definately recommend this hotel to friends.

We stay at this Hotel every couple of months whilst visiting our Grandson who lives with his parents in Apsley. The Hotel is always clean with good friendly staff who are always helpful and polite.The breakfast is plentiful with options to suit all tastes.Beds are comfortable and the rooms cleaned daily. A good all round Hotel which we will continue to use.

The Hotel staff were happy to help, as I was working nights in Hemel H, I found the Hotel housekeeping staff were very helpful, quiet, thoughtful and even though housekeeping did not have access to the room, I always found a bag full of towels, soap and COFFEE.
The Room Black out was very good and the option of a late departure was very welcome.

As always we had a comfortable room, nice and quiet stay and always have value for money. On our last stay the hotel was very busy but we were still given a room.
On a many occasions when going through the bar/reception area there didnt seem to be any staff around. After a few minutes someone would appear from a back office who in our opinion were not over friendly... Perhaps a few more smiles would be good............

This hotel is great for the price but its the 'little' things that make it fall over. We stayed Xmas Eve/Xmas Day. On checking in we were asked if we would like our room serviced on Xmas Day. We said YES. Got back to the hotel late on Xmas night, no room serviced. A bag was hanging on the door with a toilet rool, 1 towel, 1 hand towel and some coffee, tea etc. We went to Reception and queried the servicing of the room. We were told we had said NO!!!!!!!!!!! We shower each day so 1 towel was NOT enough. The Receptionist was very good and obtained more towels for us - this was all unnecessary if the Receptionist who had checked us in had had got it right. We believe a room should be serviced daily never mind whether its Xmas or not!

Very friendly and helpful staff, good food and excellent location.
Planned to visit Harry Potter experience at Warner Brothers and it took only 12 minutes from Hotel and is a very easy route.
if you are planning to visit Harry Potter this is the place to stay.

Had a great few days at the hotel. Found everything spot on. Staff very helpful, and the rooms were excellent and clean,and room service each day was excellent. Breakfast was a really good choice, and plenty of it too. The staff kept the everything topped up. Would certainly recommend this hotel, and so very convenient for buses and train.

Hotel is great, Breakfast good and clean tables, helpful staff. the only problem with this hotel is not enough parking, and when we returned in the evening cars were parked all over the place including the pavements. All the disabled bays were full of cars not dissplaying a badge. Advice get there early, park your car and dont move it again.
