Bonus this time when we booked because it was on offer of £44.00 plus breakfast. Pleasant room with sofa bed on third floor, as always clean and quiet. Hubbie forgot razor, reception supplied one with out any fuss. Breakfast was amply and plenty of choice. The Canal pub by the canal serves wonderful food and has a homely feel - definitly reccomend although book first. November 28, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel We stayed at this hotel for visiting Warner Studios - Harry Potter and access to London. The hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. Prime location for Harry Potter and access to London with Apsley Train Station straight across the road and 30 minutes on the train in to Euston. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would certainly stay there again. November 25, 2013

From the general manager who found and made us a dinner reservation with a local restaurant. The lovely young lady who cleared all the breakfast tables, who worked so hard and was so smiley. To the lady who checked us out and printed our Whipsnade tickets. So impressed. A lot of places could learn from the excellent customer service we received. Only dislike was the lack of trays at breakfast, meaning a lot of visits to the servery and consequential disturbed Breakfast. Please bring the trays back !! Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by good hotel Stayed here for two nights. Room clean, will find free, breakfast adequate. Staff: reception when we arrived very helpful and friendly. Staff at breakfast, two wonderful ladies who were very helpful and pleasant. Young man working ignorant, in fact didn't smile or said good morning, being pleasant cost nothing. when checking out no one on reception and had to wait five minutes at least and I went to find someone. The young man who came was the same lad from breakfast, didn't ask if everything had been ok with our stay just checked our room number and basically said we owed nothing and carried on to the next desk. Not the best customer service. Breakfast: food lovely but I would suggest moving the rotary toast machine as it is in a corner and not very accessible and causes a bottle neck where you can't move. Rooms: lovely rooms but beds could do with being king size. Quite room, lovely. We hung our towels over rail on first day when used for the "environmental policy" as the sign says in the bathroom but they were still changed???? Parking: get there early. Overall: nice budget hotel, Near railway station for london trains. Staff all need to be consistently friendly that's all that lets it down. November 13, 2013

But basic but a bit of everything. Didn't eat there but only as we were out and about in evenings as well as the day. Would definitely return if needed to, and for the price was a complete bargain. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great if you needed somewhere last minute. Me and my family stayed here as had a family party up the road. There was plenty of parking which is sometimes hard at hotels, the receptionists where very helpful and easy to ask questions and more than happy to look up the party venue and find out taxi details, he really went out his way to help and found that lovely. We had no problems with the room was clean and comfy everything you need for a nights sleep. The let down was the breakfast....we chose to stay at the holiday in as we have had breakfasts from these hotels before and it was delicious, this time was awful, all had on offer was bundles of over cooked rubber sausages, cold beans and to me can only be the worst!!! Scrabbled egg iv ever eaten. It must if been powered as it was bland and an off yellow/white colour. The fresh fruit was just one choice and so thought id stick to that, that was until some other guest decided to eat all and Mean all the fruit so you replaced with some tinned stuff! Would only recommend staying here if you want to sleep not to eat. November 7, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent location for Apsley train station Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights over half term holidays. Room was a family room with sofa bed. Sofa bed more suited for younger children my 15 & 13 year old teenagers found it too narrow & cramped. Room was clean & well equipped. Breakfast is usual Express quality but I can guarantee that this hotel serves the worst scrambled egg ever. Excellent location for Apsley train station & for trips into London only a short 30-40 min journey. Have stayed at this hotel before & have always found the staff friendly & helpful. Parking at the hotel is very limited we ended up parking our hire car at the nearby pub which we found a bit worrying. Was able to move the next day to the hotels secure car park. Would recommend this hotel to a friend. November 4, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by overly soft beds, and very poor breakfast Reception staff were great. The bed I was given in room 114 was far to soft and i had really bad nights sleep. I asked if i could get a room with a firmer bed buy was informed that they were all from the same supplier and there would be no difference. I had Wry neck for 2 days afterwards. The sofabed was falling apart and again was too soft to be comfortable. The cooked breakfast was not palatable. The sausage was cheap and nasty and the absence of bacon re-enforced the feeling that the stay there was never to be memorable. This has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I would not ever recomend anyone stay there after my experience there. November 2, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very quiet The best aspect of the hotel was the soundproofing - we weren't disturbed by people in other rooms. The shower was excellent and the breakfast was fine. I found the mattress slightly uncomfortable compared with a Dunlopillo at home, but still slept fine. The main improvement I would like to see is to the booking system when reserving multiple rooms. The system should allow you to define the number of guests in each room, not just the total number for all rooms. The hotel found this confusing as well and made up 2 spare beds when only one was needed. October 31, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect choice We stayed here the night before a visit to somewhere the next day. I had not stayed in a HIE before, but I was really impressed. We just wanted somewhere clean, comfortable & not expensive. This did just that. Wasn't too keen on the horrible plastic/paper mattress protector on the bed ( which seemed well used) so I took it off & used a towel instead. My daughter's bed had a proper fabric one. Everything else was great & we had the best check in from the most helpful & informative receptionist ever! Breakfast was perfectly good for what we paid. It is in a nice position next to the canal & there is a pub restaurant less than 1 min walk away. October 18, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by WHY BUILD A HOTEL WITH INSUFFICIENT PARKING??? My favourite Hotel is the Holiday Inn Express in Verona wi USA,This hotel could learn a thing or 2 from it's USA cousin. Why would a large chain build a Hotel with not enough car parking especially disabled parking. There are 6 disabled spaces here and we returned late at night after a family party to find all the disabled spaces taken, 4 of which were not displaying disabled badges. I enquired at reception if disabled spaces are policed and all I got was an offer to wake up the owners of the wrongly parked cars and ask them to move ( at 1.45am I don't think so# It's the little things that make a good hotel but also the little things that break them. The chairs in the room #122) were filthy and the toilet seat was loose, why don't you supply face flannels like all hotels in USA do. This is not a bad hotel but is by no means a good one. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Room review We arrived quite early as our function started at 1.00pm. The manager explained that the hotel was full and our rooms would be available at 2.00 . We wanted to change after a long drive but no rooms were available so we had to use the toilets. When we returned from the church service we checked in and were given room cards. When we went to our room 317 it had not been prepared. No problem because the maid arrived as we were leaving for late lunch. We returned at 6.00pm to find the bedclothes had just been pulled over and the sofa bed was still pulled out even though we asked the maid to fold it back. I thought it odd but when we went to my sisters room and saw how it should have been presented we were dissapointed . The maid obviously thought we were staying on from the previous night and as her English was poor she misunderstood our request. We went out again for supper thinking our room would be made presentable during our time away. We were dissapointed to find no change on our return. As it was late we just went to bed. We felt the maid had made a mistake and did not want to get her into trouble so we did not report the matter tostada the next morning. The breakfast was excellent so we left the matter go. The only downside was that there wasn't any bacon at breakfast (there were sausages though) and apparently it said bacon on the menu on the wall, although I didn't see it myself. September 26, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great room, breakfast a shambles The room was lovely, reception staff were very knowledgeble and helpful. Slept very well, bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was a mess. The food and variety was fine but the space where it is displayed was tiny and caused a long queue. Hot breakfast foods ran out quickly and took a long time to refil. In the end, I gave up and went out to buy my own. Other than that it was a lovely hotel and I would use again. September 26, 2013

I found the price was much cheaper than B&B in the area, room was clean, nicely decorated with large TV, comfortable bed, tea & coffee making facilities. Free parking and WIFI, next to a beautiful marina. Staffs were friendly, helpful and professional. Buffet breakfast was continental breakfast plus sausages, poached eggs and baked beans. Good enough for the price I paid. I could not find any fault with my stay. September 25, 2013
