Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by High standard for this level Clean, modern hotel ideally situated for this part of Herts - St Albans, Kings Langley, Watford &c. Apsley station is just across the road with regular service into London Euston. While the hotel is typical of Express HIs, which do have their limitations. This one has a friendly & obliging staff, good management & efficient in all respects. February 13, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Sausages Poor Parking I always look forward to staying here because of the lovely herby sausages they have for breakfast. I stayed in Canterbury the night before and their sausages were nowhere near as good. Mind you I often stay at the HIXpres in Arras and the free breakfast there is magnificent; there are cold meats, cheeses, an egg boiler, an orange press etc, so you have a long way to go to catch up with our Froggy cousins. It’s rare to get a twin bedded accessible room in a HIX and the ground floor one here in Hemel is excellent. The down side is the way the disabled car spaces are 90% filled by non blue badge holders. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Confort and Value I stayed at this hotel for the third time and it didn't disappoint. The hotel is easy to find, has free parking now (which is a great bonus), the rooms are spacious, warm and comfortable. I would, as ever, prefer larger bath towels, but they were clean and the bathroom/shower was nice. There was little noise even though the hotel is on a main road which meant a good nights sleep. Breakfast was very welcome, with both continental and hot options although I would still prefer some bacon! Overall a great experience and would definately recommend this hotel to friends. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clean Comfortable Hotel with friendly staff. We stay at this Hotel every couple of months whilst visiting our Grandson who lives with his parents in Apsley. The Hotel is always clean with good friendly staff who are always helpful and polite.The breakfast is plentiful with options to suit all tastes.Beds are comfortable and the rooms cleaned daily. A good all round Hotel which we will continue to use. February 4, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Night Working The Hotel staff were happy to help, as I was working nights in Hemel H, I found the Hotel housekeeping staff were very helpful, quiet, thoughtful and even though housekeeping did not have access to the room, I always found a bag full of towels, soap and COFFEE. The Room Black out was very good and the option of a late departure was very welcome. January 31, 2013

On our last stay the hotel was very busy but we were still given a room. On a many occasions when going through the bar/reception area there didnt seem to be any staff around. After a few minutes someone would appear from a back office who in our opinion were not over friendly... Perhaps a few more smiles would be good............ January 6, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Service of room over Xmas period This hotel is great for the price but its the 'little' things that make it fall over. We stayed Xmas Eve/Xmas Day. On checking in we were asked if we would like our room serviced on Xmas Day. We said YES. Got back to the hotel late on Xmas night, no room serviced. A bag was hanging on the door with a toilet rool, 1 towel, 1 hand towel and some coffee, tea etc. We went to Reception and queried the servicing of the room. We were told we had said NO!!!!!!!!!!! We shower each day so 1 towel was NOT enough. The Receptionist was very good and obtained more towels for us - this was all unnecessary if the Receptionist who had checked us in had had got it right. We believe a room should be serviced daily never mind whether its Xmas or not! January 3, 2013

Planned to visit Harry Potter experience at Warner Brothers and it took only 12 minutes from Hotel and is a very easy route. if you are planning to visit Harry Potter this is the place to stay. Breakfast was a really good choice, and plenty of it too. The staff kept the everything topped up. Would certainly recommend this hotel, and so very convenient for buses and train. November 25, 2012

Hotel is great, Breakfast good and clean tables, helpful staff. the only problem with this hotel is not enough parking, and when we returned in the evening cars were parked all over the place including the pavements. All the disabled bays were full of cars not dissplaying a badge. Advice get there early, park your car and dont move it again. November 3, 2012

Rooms were basic, but everything required was there - freeview, TV, towels changed every day if required, comfy bed, and choice of soft/firm pillows. Basic breakfast (No bacon !), but as much as you wanted. October 17, 2012

I wasn't expecting to much for the price but was pleasantly suprised by the service and the room. This is a real find for us as we will use it to stay when we want to go to London. With a direct link to Euston from Apsley Station which is about 200 metres away, it is a no brainer! Will definately use again October 13, 2012

Not acceptable, clean bedding was provided and the receptionist inspected the room. October 5, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel and booking system The hotel was clean and pleasant. Staff were extremely welcoming upon arrival and as helpful as they could be with any query. However, on checking in, it became apparent that the booking was not correct. The reservation had been made for 2 rooms for 1 night and I had the original confirmation to prove it. However, the hotel booking system showed 1 room for 2 nights. The hotel staff were very good and were able to amend the booking. This might be considered a bit of bad luck, but when we went to stay at another Holiday Inn the following night, there were also problems with that booking. My husband ( who wasn't with us) checked all details on line and found that the original booking confirmation was as we expected. However, when he checked the confirmations that we were sent a few days before leaving and used the links to check the reservations it was possible to see there was potentially a problem. After spending over 12 minutes on a premium line he was able to confirm the booking was ok for the 2nd night. Sort out your booking system Holiday Inn!!!! October 5, 2012

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Modern Hotel and excellent value for money. Stayed at this hotel for two nights whilst visiting London and Whipsnade zoo with my family. Nice modern hotel with good sized bedroom and bathroom. Room was clean and nicely decorated. We had adjoining rooms as we were a family of five. Car parking at the hotel was free. Location is great for visiting London as local train station is across the road. Breakfast was free and buffet style with as much as you could eat. Would highly recommend and hope to visit again soon. Thank You July 19, 2012

It was the best price, however the location was difficult to find for me as a foreginer and for some local people with UK GPS. Better directions on the website would help. Breakfast had good choices and there were other resturants near by that the staff was knowledgable about the menu and location. July 10, 2012

The location of the hotel was very attractive by the water and was ideal for relaxing strolls. The staff were superb, so friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were lovely and it was a light and airy room to enjoy the experience. We loved it here and would stop again without hesitation. July 10, 2012
