Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Average Holiday Inn Motel Stay This Holiday Inn Express has one of the neatest lobby entries, with a rotating selection of classic cars. I've stayed here several times, as a devout Holiday Inn Rewards member. However, the stay always reminds me an upscale Motel, not a Hotel stay, and rates an AVG scoring. This rating is a culmination of several observations: 1# No fresh fruit with breakfast. Perhaps this was just a one-time event, as previous stays have had fruit. #Eating areas adjoined the lobby and was clean and nice#. 2# Newly refinished bathrooms was poorly implemented. Countertops were nice, as was new tile, thus remodel checklist would look good on paper. However the quality of the remodel was lacking with chunks of mortar remaining on the tiles under the counter and paint from the ceiling paint-job on every wall of the shower stall. Caulking was also incomplete with gaps already developing mildew from holding moisture. Perhaps this room was still in remodel phase though. #No other issues with room and beds were comfortable with visually clean sheets/covers#. 3) The stairwells are some of the ugliest. This says something, as I always take stairs for free exercise. I read somewhere that savvy establishments decorate their stairwells nicely to encourage their use. This establishment has performed the opposite, with multiple stains on the steps and incomplete paint coverage on the walls. 4) I'm with the Gov't and thus qualify for state tax exemption on business-related stays. This particular hotel and staff are rigid sticklers #these are my kindest words for treatment) for requiring a signed form, every stay. Several other Holiday Inns in TN accept the Federal Tax Exemption number on my Gov't card. This makes a significant difference between a friendly check-in atmosphere and a strict one. #This universal approach at this Motel is probably drilled into the staff by Management as the Captain of the Ship).
