Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Location The location is perfect when visiting Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse and Custer State Park. October 2, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by rude staff. The staff at this hotel are rude and very unfriendly. They ignore the guest and when asked a question they either turn their backs to you or make rude comments under their breath and when you confront them they leave without making amends. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. October 2, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stay! The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable providing for a great stay in Hill City. October 1, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service The staff was very helpful and happy. They treated everyone like valuable guests. The manager gave us directions and suggestions for all our sightseeing. If I am ever in the area again, this is where I will stay. October 1, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and comfortable We stayed a long weekend to view the sights in the area. It was a good base. The hotel was very clean and the bed was comfortable. I was really impressed with how clean the pool was! Traveling with children, we are always required to check out the pool. It' always nice and convenient when breakfast is included. They had a variety of choices. October 1, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by best place to stay It's always clean, staff are friendly and upbeat. Pool area was clean and hot tub was great. We felt very safe and secure there. It was my second time to stay there. Easy access in and out was a plus. Everything was quiet, we enjoyed ourselves, and will be back again. September 29, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay This hotel was clean and well maintained. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast choices are good. Beds are comfortable. Property has a pleasing appearance. We stayed here in June and again in September because of all these reasons. Would stay here again if in the area. September 29, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location Hotel was close to all attractions: Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, train, breweries, and wineries September 27, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Bed not as comfortable Bed not as comfortable as I expected. The bed on the left side of the room (facing bed from bottom) was lumpy and not comfortable at all. September 26, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff Brenda was awesome!! Other staff great also. Clean rooms. Well maintained!! Fairly quiet, but need to install door sweeps for sound control. Noted that corridor doors were weatherstripped (sound-stripped), but door was undercut 3/4 inch to 1 inch, and needs to have sweep at bottom for total sound control. September 25, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just as expected. i stay at this brand a lot. It's always what I expect, clean, comfortable and safe. September 25, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice place to stay Really liked our stay at this Holiday Inn. From Hill City it is easy to get to Mount Rushmore, Deadwood, Sturgis and other great sites in the Black Hills. As always, the bet was comfortable, the room was clean and the A/C unit was quiet enough to allow a good night's sleep. This hotel is also very close to the 1880 Train, which on some days passes by the hotel at 7:30 AM, so be aware that you may hear the train whistle as it goes by. The days we were visiting there were no 7:30 runs, so we did not hear get to hear it. But we love trains, so we would have loved to have heard and seen it go by! September 25, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by informative hotel staff Very accessible to our tourist destinations in the area, breakfast was outstanding and warm/hot..and plenty of it. It was quiet there and very clean...beds comfortable. September 22, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by location need more room and tables for breakfast, location is great September 21, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient location This is a great location for access to Mt. Rushmore and Custer State Park. September 20, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by On the Road to Rushmore Hill City and the Holiday Inn and Suites was an excellent Choice. The city is not as "honky tonk" as Keystone and has good choices for dining. It is a longer drive to the Monument but a good compromise from staying in Rapid City. It is actually closer to the Crazy Horse Memorial that both the other locations. The hotel itself was a respite after a long day and the accommodations and staff were excellent. The room was large, had a sitting area, good lighting and comfortable pillows and bed. The breakfast buffet had everything reasonably expected. The pancake maker is a wonder, making pancakes fast and fluffy. The staff was very helpful in providing assistance and with road-trip hints. September 19, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stay! It's easy to relax in such a comfortable, clean room. The staff is very welcoming and eager to please. Will definitely stay there again. September 17, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not as good as other Express stays this trip Check in was fine, breakfast room way too small, after check in staff was only ok.Check ouy staff was way too interested in talking amoungst themselves. Not at all interested in us. September 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Central Location Clean, quiet, well maintained property, convenient to all major attractions in the Hills. General manager even helped us with a couple of minor concerns. Only downside is as mentioned in other reviews--impossibly small breakfast room. But that's a physical plant issue that is addressed as best as can be expected. Definately recommend this location. September 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very nice accesible room Very nice accessible suite. We travel quite a lot and this was one of the nicest rooms we've stayed in. Very large and well appointed. We will definitely try and stay here again. Very good breakfast, great housekeeping and very friendly staff. September 12, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Highly recommend The hotel was located perfect for sightseeing in the Mt. Rushmore area. Hotel great and comfortable with except for breakfast room which is very small and not attended as often as it should be. We were a little worried when we drove up and found the hotel located between a road on one side and railroad track on the other. The train we found out was for sightseeing during the daytime only so it wasn't a problem. September 10, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Under Appreciated The location of this hotel property may be unappreciated by those visiting the Mt Rushmore area. It is beyond the commercial din of Keystone and next to the commercialized but much more charming Hill City. It is optimally situated for touring the many great parks and places that exist beyond the shadows of Mt Rushmore. September 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Front Desk Person Make sure you talk to Bill on your visit. He is a character and makes your visit even more enjoyable. September 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Peaceful Quiet, no disturbances, friendly and lots of smiles. September 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good place, great staff! Hotel was clean, comfortable, quiet and staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed 5 nights while visiting the sights in the Black Hills. September 6, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good view of the railroad tracks The train does NOT run at night so the stay is restful and quiet. They do need more handicapped parking. Very helpful staff This is our 2nd stay at this Hotel September 3, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice hotel Enjoyed our stay very much. Comfortable and clean rooms. Our kids really enjoyed the pool! Great location close to the 1880's train depot. Served a wonderful free continental breakfast with plenty of options. Friendly staff. September 1, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Delayed housekeeping Overall, this hotel met the cleanliness standard I have come to expect from Holiday Inn Express. However, as we were staying 2 nights, our plans had included a mid day break at the hotel before further sight seeing. When we returned to the hotel at 2:30, the room was still not cleaned, so we left and returned at 3:30. It was done by 3:30, but this schedule did cause us to alter our intended plans. Further, though I usually enjoy the cinnamon rolls at the breakfast, this time the rolls were so dried out that I tossed it in the trash. This hotel could also use additional luggage carts. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Breakfast Area Overall a good location, good hotel. Stopped there as a pitstop on vacation. The only opportunity for improvement at this location would be the breakfast area. It was too small and with a hotel full of visitors we had to eat in the lobby while trying to balance food on our laps. Otherwise the hotel was fine. If the breakfast area could be improved it would be even better. August 31, 2014
