Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely Experience I stayed at the HIX twice for week long periods while I was relocating to NC. This hotel was one of the only hotels in the area that allows pets which worked out well for me and my dog. The staff was very courteous at all times and was extremely helpful. Down the street in downtown Hillsborough were quaint restaurants and a small grocery store. Pizza will also deliver to the hotel. Recommend. April 4, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet Thought check in was smooth and desk attendant was very nice. Breakfast options were a bit rough, as I would have liked to have seen more fruit. But, food was well prepared and hostess was very friendly. Room was quiet and location was as well. Front desk recommended a great little organic market to find some snacks. My only gripe was that I had to check out a day early ( FEB 6) at 245p in order to rush home for a family emergency. I would have liked to have been credited my 5000 reward points back as I only checked out about an hour after their late checkout for platinum guests. Other than that, great place. Might stay again. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Takes your money I was using my reward points and I had told the lady on the day of arrival that my family would not be getting there until about 11:30 or 12 MN. She called me at 11:30 PM and woke me up to tell me that my family had not arrived and she needed a card to hold the room because the one she had would not work. The next day when I checked my account I found that she had taken $150 out of both my accounts. Supposedly it is on hold but it is now almost a week later and I still do not have the money in my account!!! Do not use this hotel. Even the manager gave me a big story about having a storm and things not working. We had not had a storm in the area for over a week. March 17, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Thank you! I made reservations in advance for a Reward Nights stay, as this property was on the Points Break list. My wife, one year old son and I were in town to see family. We arrived a bit later than we planned, as we traveled through a nasty snowstorm in Virginia. Brenda was at the front desk, and she was delightful! She recognized my Platinum membership and provided a complimentary upgrade to a suite. She made us feel right at home. The room was in great shape, and was a welcome comfort from the road. The breakfast was even better than I expected it would be. The only bump in the experience were some noisy neighbors we had during our first night --but that is hardly the fault of the hotel. This place is a hidden treasure for anyone visiting the Triangle. I will definitely be back next time around! March 11, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Place to stay I found the staff to be very friendly and willing to help in any way. When I arrived for check in I was greeted by my name and recogonized as a IHG member. The room had a comfortable feel and the bed was great. I did not make it out for breakfast until it was closed but the front desk offered to let me fix a plate of food. Later that night I called the front desk to ask for a later check out if needed and they said that it would be fine and asked how late do I think I would need? I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I will stay here again. February 1, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by There's Better 2nd stay, same room, degraded from previous stay. The pillows stunk like cigarette smoke. One lamp had a (bullet?) hole in shade, another wobbly, bed lamps had an incandescent bulb burned out (from previous stay, a year ago). Loose handle on bath valve, bent down towel shelf, broken/misaligned toilet seat (all reported to owner last year). We were serenaded from 1 to 2 a.m. by a barking dog next door. "You get what you pay for". The staff are marvelous--it's a shame the inn isn't. January 11, 2014

We were pleased to be greeted warmly and efficiently by the front desk staff, and our three days there were just fine. They serve a nice breakfast, and the maid service was prompt. It is very convenient to the delightful little town of Hillsborough and route 85, and we'll very likely be returning in the future. January 1, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NEEDS UPDATING BAD! THE ROOM HELD A LOT TO BE DESIRED. TILE IN THE SHOWER WAS FALLING OFF THE WALL. THE DOORS IN THE CLOSET WOULD NOT CLOSE. THE ELECTRICAL OUTLET COVER IN THE BATHROOM WAS THE WRONG SIZE. THE SHEETS WERE CLEAN BUT OLD. WHAT A SHAME BECAUSE WE HAVE NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED WITH HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS. December 3, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Requested Non-smoking room,, given smoking room I made prior reservations for late arrival. When I arrived at Hotel just before midnight, checked in and I was given a smoking room. I went back to frontdesk, asked for a nonsmoking room. I was told that no more rooms were available; however two partys came in behind me when I first checked in and they were given rooms. I told front desk that I have a allergy from the smell of cigarette smoke (makes my throat swell and close off) I requested a refund, was told that manager was not there and nothing could be done until I speak with him. You guess it, yes my debit account was drafted. I call Saturday, was told that mgr. would not be in until Monday. I called on Monday, mgr. told me that the next time, I should call the hotel directly and make reservations and the next time that I stay there, he would make it up to me some how. No refund was given.. I ended up driving to Apex and getting a room at the Holiday Inn Express there at 2:00 am in the morning, comparable rate, lovely experience. Thanks for making my night Apex Holiday Inn Express folks. At least you all know how to treat an IHG Rewards Club Gold Elite Member. I won't stay at the hotel in Hillsborough again. November 11, 2013

The setting is very quiet and almost park-like, yet the hotel is located very close to the interstate and to downtown in that area. I found staff on every shift to be very pleasant, friendly, and approachable, in addition to being helpful. The room was large, with appropriate lighting, great selection of TV stations, large TV, and nice mini-refrigerator. The only downside was that I really wish the mattress was a bit more firm, and that the desk chair was more comfortable. The breakfast selection was nice and replaced before selections were fully gone, so there was no waiting for food or beverage items. While I did not experience any issues with sufficient seating in this location, I can see where there might be issues if you were not someone who eats early as there were only 6 tables available. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stay Booked a Junior Suite for one night, room was clean and functional -- typical for an IHG property. Overall a great stay with no fuss. Breakfast choices were great, typical for HIE. We were only there for one night so don't know about housekeeping, but I'm sure they are great as well. I didn't interact with staff much, perhaps a sign that I didn't need to ask for anything and that everything works. They have an outdoor pool so it was closed for the season when we stayed. This was not surprising to me but it was disappointing to my 9-year-old. It was in the mid-80s the week before we stayed, but it was October so no swimming this stay. The location of this property is great -- sandwiched between two interstates. Very convenient if you need to stop for the night in Hillsborough. October 9, 2013

She greeted everyone with a smile each morning at breakfast and couldn't do enough to make sure everything was enjoyable. As we were leaving to head to the airport after breakfast, we noticed that we had a flat tire on our rental car. With no extra time to spare, she contacted a service to get our party of 5 to the airport while we were dealing with the rental car company. Truly excellent service! October 3, 2013
