Wonderful staff both at front desk and in Max's!! Still have a Ithaca College Student so I'll be staying there over the next 3 years. Would highly recommend!!

Where do I begin....The staff was very pleasant. That's the positive.
I was asked if the second floor was OK because there is no elevator - No? Well, sorry, that's the only room we have. Then why ask?
The TV was plugged into a dead wall outlet and took a while for me to figure out.
The "air conditioning" on the highest level was minimal, at best. and therefore it was VERY stuffy in the room.
There was a large yellowjacket bee in the bathroom.
The closest drink vending machine would not take my money. After searching the hotel, I finally found a machine that took my perfectly good dollar bills.
Etc., etc. This hotel needs to be overhauled!!!

I have been staying at this property for the last 5 years while my daughter has been a student at Ithaca college. When we first stayed there the hotel was in desperate need of a renovation. Thankfully that renovation happened and we were happy to stay there. Well not anymore. In the room we were in, the window sills were filthy, the shower curtain was stained, the ledge in the bathroom was dirty, the toilet paper holder was rusted. The entire room was just dirty and dusty. I was actually afraid to put my head on the pillow and pull the covers over me.
I understand how busy your hotel is with it being in the middle of 2 colleges. But you must take better care of your rooms and maintain them better especially at the prices you are charging now. As a rewards member I was HIGHLY disappointed and may think twice before returning to your property!

We had a particularly difficult check in experience. The good news was that we were given an upgrade, the bad news is that whoever processed it ignored the fact that I had reserved a room with 2 beds. Next, we were given room 110. Unless you are a smoker, NEVER accept room 110...WOW. Eventually, we were sent to a room that was fine. It was not exactly spacious, but seemed clean.
Particularly given the price being charged, this hotel is due for a renovation.
If returning to Ithaca, I will look for another alternative.

The hotel was ok, for the money we expected a bit more for the dollar. Room staff was very nice. The issue we had was the parking. They had events going on during the day so there was no parking, and to park in the parking lot across the road is $7.00 a day. They do not refund this, when asked they agreed they have something like 180 rooms, but only enough parking spots for 118. Unfortunately when they have events everyone for the event parks in the lots, which leaves no room for the guests. The room was ok, could have used to move things when they clean.

We stayed overnight when visiting Ithaca College. It was convenient to the college and the breakfast was delicious. Ithaca Commons was a bit scruffy and we got a pizza from a restaurant that the front desk person recommended.....it was awful, but it wasn't the H I employee's fault. We had breakfast at the hotel and my daughter said to me that we should have had dinner here the night before. The only other change would be to offer a less expensive room with maybe one bed. We just needed a place to stay overnight. We only used one queen bed.

Hotel seemed understaffed. Many requests were made for early check in and staff was less than accomodating. I understand not having rooms available prematurely, but to make no attempt to accomodate for luggage storage or anything is poor customer service. Our party had at least 8 rooms booked for the weekend of 4/6 and 4/7. Again, certain staff members were hospitable, like Daniel at the front desk - he was polite and accomodating. Other staff members need some work.
We have many reasons to return to Ithaca in the future, and the location of the hotel is great for us. Unfortunately, I do not think we will be staying at this property again.

Nice, new clean hotel. We just drove in from a visit to NYC and walked in looking for a room on a Thursday night (Priority Club Member). Receptionist at check in was very accommodating, friendly and cordial, she put us in a room on the 12th floor (upgrade with 2 queen beds) also offered us complimentary mini wine/free drink at bar and chocolates. However..I have stayed in a lot of properties around the world and I can say that I have never been awakened by Housekeeping with fist banging on the door at 8:15 am, that is why I can only give the Staff and Service an Average score.

I stayed for the night -doing business in town. Started the shower and the tub was stopped up so I checked the drain and pulled a chipmunk-sized hair wad out of the drain. Disgusting!
Front desk person was very apologetic but I found the manager on duty not exhibiting concern at the level I expected. Will not be staying here again as I'm not sure I can expect any better. Glad I didn't try to shower in the evening as I would have had to move to another hotel immediately. Feeling like this hotel's cleanliness standards are way below par. I could add a photo but it's too gross to share although I did show it to the Front Desk person and the MOD.

Every year we come back to Ithaca to hit the wineries on Cayuga. This is the 3rd time we stayed at the hotel, and overall it is a great place to stay. The room was comfortable, and staff at front desk and Maxie's was excellent. For the price, I think the room and experience is worth the stay. One nice thing is that there are other places within walking distance as well.
We stayed with 6 other couples, and they thought the same...We would stay again, the only thing I could say was something that I would like to see is larger bed pillows...The pillows are small and very full...not use to sleeping on a smaller/ thick pillow like that, but as my wife always says, I am picky...(haha)
See you guys again, and thanks for the good experience!

Guest services at the front desk have always been great and accommodating every time Ive stayed at this location. They are very polite and help out with special requests etc. The rooms and common areas are always clean and quiet.
I am rather disappointed with the service i received while ordering a drink and dinner at the bar from their onsite diner. With less than a handful of customers and several wait staff on a weekday evening you would think that service would be speedy, however this was not the case. It took almost 10 minutes for the bartender to quit her personal conversation about her dream job with another customer to ask if i wanted something to drink and a menu. after i received the menu it took her 10 more minutes to check back if i had picked out a drink. After ordering and receiving my drink i completely finished it before she returned to take my meal order, at which point i was tired of waiting and i told her that Id order - but wanted it sent to my room. I was very specific about how i wanted my steak cooked and add ons for my baked potato. service to my room was quite fast, however the potato came without the requested sides and my rare-medium rare steak came out a very well done burnt piece of meat. For almost $30 you would and should expect more.
I would most definitely encourage staying here - but checking out the local off-site restaurants would be my recommendation

I am a priority club member and have stayed at many holiday inn properties. Without being to critical, and I could be, this is an older hotel that has not been updated in awhile. The staff is nice but the property is old, out of date, not very clean and overpriced. The nice staff can not overcome the negatives of the hotel.

Lovely hotel and a nice surprise for such a small town. Recommend a room in the tower as it has great views. Staff was efficient and very friendly. Food in the restaurant was ample and tasty.

Staff is always super friendly and helpful and the location is great. Rooms are very tired and in need of updating. Patched carpeting, cracked tiles and counters. Bed pillows are a weird size--small squares of varying quality. Hopefully this property is slated for renovations.

This hotel isn't anything spectacular, but it certainly does the job in what you need in a hotel. No problems what so ever. We got in late, and the parking was full, but we were able to find a spot. It was nicely decorated for Christmas, which I love to see. Very close to everything downtown and to Ithaca College.

The room was clean and the bed comfortable. We ate in the hotel restaurant for dinner and breakfast, breakfast was much better. When we mentioned that the dinner meal was not to our liking- not looking for anything from the restaurant, but the waitress asked how everything was our faces showed the disappointment. The manager came right over and took the meal off the bill. We appreciated her quick response and apologetic attitude about this meal. I would recommend this place to anyone needing to stay in Ithaca. It's close to the commons and both universities.

This is one of few IHG brands that actually offers upgrades when available, without having to request - or fight for one. They do tend to be somewhat pricey but, quality lodging in Ithaca is not in large supply.

While I thought the hotel was a little over priced, the staff made up for it. Check in was very pleasant and within 5 minutes of check in, the front desk called the room to make sure everything was ok. I ordered room service and it was delivered very quickly and by a very pleasant young lady. Within a few minutes of the delivery, someone called to make sure everything was ok.
The heating and air didn't work very well but again the service more than made up for it.

The housekeeper stole money from me, was caught and fired. I wouldn't let my pet stay at this hotel. The General manager Tiffany was very rude initially, but returned my money. The property is not suited for special needs. There is no elevator to the second floor. The hotel was dirty and not what I expect from the holiday inn brand.

I used my reward night to stay at this hotel and it must be they give you the worst available room. Our room was filthy. We found 2 empty wine bottles in the kitchenette, and the bathroom floors weren't swept, the jacuzzi tub's jets were black, and there was debris on the top and sides of the tub. It looked like someone wiped the top off with toilet paper because there were rolled up TP pieces on top. I would never expect a room like this from a Holiday Inn. On top of that, the boiler broke and we had no hot water. When I checked out, the front desk person was extremely apologetic and offered to credit half of my rewards points back but, to date, this has not been done. The bartender in the lounge ignored us for over 10 minutes so she could text on her phone all night in plain view, then when we attempted to order food, she told us it was too late. If we would have gotten prompt service, it wouldn't have been. I will NEVER stay at this hotel again!

The staff was VERY rude, unhelpful, and I would NEVER stay at this hotel in Ithaca again. Got to hotel at noon, and was informed official check in was not until 4pm. I said that I knew that but I had a late afternoon wedding to attend and needed to shower and change. That's when the woman at the front desk caught a major attitude. Finally around 2pm I checked back at front desk. She talked down to me and told me she would call when the room was ready. She said none were at this time. So I walked around hotel, and the cleaning lady told me she cleaned all the rooms about 2 hours ago. So I marched back down to front desk and that's when the woman at the desk starting screaming at me. It was crazy. Additionally,while I was waiting for the room, I asked her if she could change the channel on the tv lounge so I could watch football. She said no and that she wanted to watch the weather. Crazy. For a "service industry", it was the worst experience I ever had. Stay somewhere else....sleep in your car if you have to.

I stayed several days for a conference. I've stayed at other Holiday Inn locations and they are fine - clean, simple, with competent customer service. This is not one of those Holiday Inns.
- Staff were unable to print an itemized receipt in a format that would work for guests seeking reimbursement.
- When asked days in advance if the hotel would be able to accomodate an early check-in after a red-eye, I was told it would be likely. But I wasn't able to check in until after 4 pm.
- Small, cramped lobby looks like it was decorated exclusively with items from a clearance rack at a big-box store.
- Carpets are stained, walls need to be repainted, air smells of mildew.
- Cramped, windowless exercise room is smelly. And there are no showers by the pool - you have to go back to your room in a towel or robe.
- Other conference attendees had overflowing toilets, broken heaters, broken room locks, and smoke in a non-smoking room.
On the plus side, sheets were clean and beds were comfortable. And conference attendees bonded over stories about the crumby lodging.
