Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by sharon58 Over priced, single bed, noisy and pooe quality breakfast
The Hotel room was not worthy of its hefty price tag. I was promised a double bed but was put into a twin as there "was a rush on due to a wedding" note , the price stayed the same.
Breakfast was in a noisy foyer with poor qualiity and just about cooked hot food.

Comfortable bed but not a great breakfast. Room was comfortable with a nice veranda.
It’s a shame the cooked breakfast items did not match the quality of the room.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Scouty57 friendly staff, but hot, hot, hot
Staff were friendly and the hotel was clean, but there was no air con in the rooms and it was only possible to open the window an inch or so, (health & safety, presumably).
We were going to a surprise party and so had to be at the venue at a certain time, but when we returned to our room at 4.15 the cleaners were in it. We went away and returned 15 minutes later and had to ask them to leave - I've never stayed in a hotel where the rooms were cleaned so late in the day and we had been out since breakfast time.
The breakfast was pretty dire - the cheapest ingredients cooked to incineration point - nasty sausages and rubbery scambled eggs. I opted for croissants and yogurt, the second day, but the yogurt was nasty also, tasted of chemicals.
Wouldn't stay here again.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Leigh71 Ideal Hotel
I have just returned from a 3 night stay with two friends and I could not fault the hotel at all. It has a great location being a stone's throw away from the railway station that takes you straight into Liverpool city centre, which only takes 20-25 minutes. It also on the bus route between New Brighton and West Kirby so ideal for drivers like me who don't want the hassle of trying to find somewhere to park. Hoylake itself has plenty to offer, pubs, shopping, etc.
My last words must go to the hotel staff, very friendly and always happy to help and the cocktails and food in the Marco Pierre White restaurant are a must! I would strongly recommend a stay here.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Globetrotter264 Nice modern hotel with good facilties and comfortable rooms but mediocre service
This was the first time we had stayed in what used to be the Kings Gap Court since about 1995. The Holiday Inn is a definite improvement! The only downside was being unable to find anyone in the reception area or anywhere on the ground floor when we arrived around noon, then when we finally did manage to track someone down, being told we couldnt check in before 2.00 p.m.
The choice for cooked breakfast is limited and somewhat synthetic.
The rooms however were comfortable and modern and the lunch menu in the restaurant attached to the hotel was reasonably priced (though the waiter managed to deliver two out of seven of our orders to the wrong table, which meant a couple in our party had to wait a long time whilst the mistake was rectified!) . We managed to leave a couple of cushions behind when we checked out, but when we sent someone who lives locally to look for them the next day he was told we should have rung ahead to warn them he was coming and that they couldnt look for them on the spot.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Service with a smile
We've just returned from a weekend at hoylake and we were very impressed with the efficiency and helpfulness of the staff, especially Katie who helped us with a query and sorted us out with no problem at all and was very happy to do so. After my return home I realised I left my cardie on the back of a chair in the restaurant, I phoned and again the staff was very helpful and polite and very kindly posted it to my home address. We enjoyed our stay there, the room was very comfortable and we were fortunate to eat outside which we found ve relaxing. Can't fault it and we would recommend it to anybody.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Rog104 Cramped room and very hot
Me, my wife and 2 children booked a family room in this hotel. We found the room was too small for 4 people and to our dismay found there was no air conditioning. If was a warm weekend and the curtains had been left open letting the sun do its work. Putting it simply the room was unbearably hot. The receptionist couldn't even offer us a fan, only a door wedge to keep the door open! This would have achieved little and with a 3 year old in the room was impractical.

An unexpected joy to find a Holiday Inn Express here - good facilities in a quiet area meant a restful night in the comfortable bed and the new bathroom with a huge walk in shower was a hit - we didn't miss a bath at all. There's plenty of parking (free) which is well lit and secure and the Staff were very cheery and accomodating. There's a good selection of local restaurants, but it's really useful to have the branch of 'Frankies' attached if you can't be bothered to walk far !
The hotel is only 100 yards from the beach and a good bracing stroll down the prom to the lifeboat station, which has a long history and is open to the public, will clear the cobwebs! The train station is just across the road and has good links into Liverpool - driving is also easy, but parking in the city centre is expensive and tricky if you're not local, so the train is a good alternative.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to friends

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lee38 Very friendly staff
Stayed in the Holiday Inn Express Hoylake for one Saturday night as we were attending a party just around the corner. Very convenient location to a range of bars and restaurants and also to the train station which is only a 5 minute walk. Room was very comfortable and the staff very friendly and incredibly helpful. If there were one criticism it would be the cleanliness of the room, it seemed OK on the surface (and the bathroom seemed very clean) but I found a tablet on the floor just under the bed so it obviously hadn't been thoroughly vaccumed. Luckily we didn't have our young daughter with us who would have tried to eat it so no harm was done but it did put us off a bit and make us wonder how clean the room really was? Breakfast was included and was a reasonable standard, the croissants were particualrlly nice!

We have used Express Holiday Inn's before in other locations, we drove right past this one as the green and blue logo was not visible to us from the road, there was a sign but did not stand out to us as we were looking for the logo colours. Lovely stay as always.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Stinker One of the best Express Hotels
Slightly different to the usual Express Hotels in that it is an older property converted to provide all the usual facilities. This gives it a rather special quality.
Only comment is that as similar to other hotels, they have a standard policy of a check in time of 2pm, I find it difficult to understand why without checking, on trying to check in at approx 12:30 I am told no rooms are available. Just what have the room maids been doing since 9am, as surely their priority would be to prepare the rooms of leavers for new arrivals over servicing rooms of stayers !

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by JR12345 Stayed at better places
Location very good and handy for station; able to get to liverpool in about half an hour. Nice hotel large room but the place was missing something, it was not very warm or inviting and "the great room" was not very great and did not invite you to stay and have a drink. It just needs a homely touch perhaps an open fire or something just to make it less than a breakfast room (which is really all it is). The breakfast was very poor with value line products; if you'r going to do sausages at least make sure there're edible.
The restaurant next door was over priced and over cooked but at least it was warm and inviting. We stayed at the hotel really to try it out as we usually stay in Liverpool but on balance we would not stay there again.
