Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not up to the usual HIE experience I will always choose to stay at a Holiday Inn Express , if available, when I am traveling. Getting a good night's sleep in a clean room is especially important to me and I have found Holiday Inn Express to provide just that. However, my experience at the Winfield, West Virginia hotel has caused me to wonder what has happened to the hotel chain. While the front desk, hotel grounds, etc. were exactly as I have come to expect from this hotel chain, my experience at the Winfield hotel was nothing short of terrible. The bed was not the nice firm pillow top mattress I have come to love in the Holiday Inn Express brand. Instead, it was soft, unstable, and very uncomfortable I felt like I was at a very low budget hotel. In addition, the temperature of the room was uncomfortably warm and the air conditioning /heating unit did not seem to work properly. I will not be staying in this particular hotel again. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Management is lacking We stayed at this location on a long road trip. I chose it because I typically seek out HIE locations and thought the indoor pool would be good for my kids. First thing, it was confusing to find the Red Roof Inn sign in the front of the property, indicating that hotel's location across the street. Getting into our room I opened the fridge to store my daughter's milk and the fridge was hot and smelly. The only employee on the property (it was late afternoon on a Saturday) was the woman at the front desk. She came and confirmed the fridge was shot. They had no other rooms and no spare refrigerators to swap out. She offered to "call someone" but someone never came. Later when we walked by her watching TV in the breakfast area, she asked if anybody ever showed up to check the fridge. I said no...and she said that he hadn't called back. That night about 10 when we were ready to go to sleep, I noticed it was pretty warm in the room. Guess what? The a/c unit didn't function. Came on, shut back off. I used every combination of the buttons but it wouldn't stay on, and the room was unbearably hot and stuffy. We slept without covers. What was I going to do? Call the front desk and report it? I did lodge a complaint with IHG and was told the management would get in touch with me about these problems--they didn't. By the way, the pool was ok but there were no pool towels; the poor worn out employee kept getting them in small stacks but never enough. Also there were many missing tiles in the pool area, hot tub, etc. The whole place just needs some TLC. We'll look for another hotel next time we travel that route. March 31, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by First time at Winfoeld Everything was fine with a couple small exceptions. The heat would not adjust down enough, it remained somewhat warm in the room all night. Also the dining room was very crowded in the morning, They could use a few more seats. It was still a very good experience and will stay there in the future. March 26, 2015
