Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by ramseys i travel for business and pleasure a lot and prefer to stay at Holiday Inn Express and another hotel chain. I am a IHG club member. This is the first bad experience I have had with Holiday Inn Express. 1st, I asked for two connecting rooms when I made the reservation. The person said that would be no problem. I even called a week before my visit and the front desk said I would have connecting rooms guaranteed. when I got to the holel, I was informed that the rooms were not connecting but were beside each other. This was unacceptable and had I been told this in the front end, I would have made my reservations else where. The 2nd issue was the hotel was not up to the standard I have been accustomed to. This appears to have been a refurbished hotel that Holiday Inn express purchased from some other chain. Third-The holel should have told me they had a bus load of Junior high students that were at the hotel when I booked the room. As kids are, they were up all night and the noise was extremely loud. In the future I will only stay at Holiday Inn Express when I have no other choice. I simply expected more from HIE. April 27, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Avoid this location I realize that Holiday Inn Express hotels are fairly bare bones, and I'm OK with that. But I will never stay at this one again unless I have no choice. The location is pretty far away from DC. If you come via mass transit, it is rather awkward to get here. There is a shuttle bus which will pick you up at the New Carrollton Metro station, but you have to know where to stand (go UP the escalator!) because the operator at the hotel will not tell you. I waited for 45 minutes for the shuttle and then got reprimanded by the operator for not being in the right place. I asked her where to wait and she said "stay where the buses and taxis are". So I did, not knowing that there are 2 sides to the station, both with buses and taxis. She never clarified which area and I was over an hour late getting to my room. I was not pleased with her attitude at all. The room itself was OK. It would have been nice if someone had remembered to put shampoo in the bathroom, but I always travel with my own, just in case. There was a lot of noise in the hotel and it was hard to sleep. I can't blame the hotel for that - there were a lot of teenagers on a tour staying that night and they were not being supervised very well. Still, I didn't get much rest. The less said about the "breakfast" the next morning, the better. Suffice it to say, hard boiled eggs should not taste sour, the bread should not be stale and the juices shouldn't be watered down so far that they looked almost clear. Even the lone usual bright spot in a hotel breakfast - the waffle iron - was a pancake maker here and it was broken. I couldn't even get a cup of tea. On a morning when I really needed to eat something so I would be ready for a big client meeting, I ended up with nothing. The fruit was old and wrinkled - hardly what I'd call fresh. April 25, 2015
