The staff was outstanding. Associate "KC" gave us a warm welcome. She immediately acknowledged our Rewards Club standing and offered us an upgrade. After learning we were celebrating our Birthdays and wedding anniversary (19-20-21 July) she recommended an Italian restaurant (Teresa's).
It was an outstanding experience, great food coupled with great local history.
We would like to make and suggestion based on our observations.
We noticed during our stay that their was one staff member working the breakfast area. She would leave the dinning area during the breakfast hours to do dusting, sweeping and removal of trash in the lobby and to the entrance to the Inn.
We found it to be unappealing to have a staff member, who was handing food, doing that type of work.
We felt that even if they were short staffed that task could have been performed before breakfast or after the breakfast hours.
It should be noted that the employee in question was friendly, and professional.

Clean and comfortable room. Excellent breakfast with good selections. Normal selections for HI Express. Good attendant keeping everything full for customers. Pancake machine out of service; seems to be system wide. A nice establishment I can surely recommend.

When we checked in at 9:30 pm, there were signs that the thermostat was not functioning. The room was very hot without airconditioning on. Put on window unit, but the temperature didn't cool down. Called the desk re: air conditioning, non-functioning light and inability to get channels on TV. Desk person came up and didn't know about the thermostat signs and said that the window unit would work over time to cool the room. Identified TV remote issue and fixed lamp.
Woke up at 1 am soaking wet, room hotter than earlier. Called desk to complain about air conditioning not working. Was offered opportunity to change room. At 1:30 am packing and changing room. But in new room with air conditioning that worked but sounded like the runway at LaGuardia. Continued disruptive sleep.
We were at the hotel having travelled 10 hours to get to Jackson for my sister's funeral the next day. Needless to say, lack of sleep didn't help the situation.
No further apology or compensation made by the hotel.
By the way, the hotel was basically empty the Monday and Tuesday after the 4th of July. There was no reason to give us a nonfunctional room. Evidently the hotel doesn't keep track of problems, nor fix them. The desk person didn't know what the "thermostat" issue was.
