Good Points.
The overall size of the room was nice and the bed was comfortable. The front desk staff was very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was nice and provided fresh fruit as well as hot items (eggs, bacon, biscuits), etc....
Watch for:
The bordering neighborhood was not great...Arrived late and did not feel comfortable in the parking lot.
Really needs improvement.
Walls were paper thin...The guests in the room next door were carrying on a normal conversation (no problem with that) except, it was coming right through the wall until 3am...Sounded like there was no noise insulation at all.
Bathrooms. While the furniture seemed updated, this did not compensate for the mildew in the batch tub and on the tiles. Also, towels - we had to shake them out as they had hair on them ... before we used them.
In room coffee pot - just looked dirty and needs to be replaced.
Overall the stay was okay, but for the reasons listed above, I would recommend a different hotel.

I made reservations over the internet with HI Express for a one night stay prior to our cruise. This stay was a great start to our vacation. I had reserved 1 room, but wanted a second room upon arrival; the lady at the desk was very friendly and worked to get us two rooms together. The property was convenient to the cruise terminal. We could not have asked for a better lodging experience. There were no negative surprises; in fact, my expectations were exceeded. I will definitely return on my next visit to Jacksonville.

Clean public areas and room, comfortable beds, friendly staff, good price, quiet rooms no roadside sounds to worry about getting that rest needed to have a good day the next day. This is what I have come to expect from Holiday Inn Express and you get it all here at Jacksonville East.
We didn't have anything from the breakfast so no comment.
Entrance to hotels road from main road is a bit tricky but go passed road and u-turn at traffic light and it's easy.

Everyone we encountered was friendly and concerned that we were satisfied with our service. I highly recommend this hotel. It is clean and well located.

In addition to the expected clean rooms and courteous staff, we found the breakfast to be healthy and extensive. The hotel's location off Atlantic Blvd as well as the interstate proved to be a bonus.

I absolutely love the Holiday Inn Express hotel chain! I am rarely disappointed and they are consistently amazing across the country, unlike other hotel chains.
My family and I were in Jacksonville for a 5K along with another family. I asked the staff to place our rooms, if possible, next to each other. They notified me that they would place a request, and upon check-in, we were able to be placed across the hall from each other. Holiday Inn Express staff consistently makes every effort to accomodate any special requests we have, and I value their commitment to the customer.

We had stayed here about a month ago and had a wonderful experience. This time however things were different. There was mildew in the caulking around the tub, the bottom of the toilet bowl could have been cleaner. The sheets kept coming off the corners of the mattress. The refrigerator was too warm so we turned it down and everything froze. The room had a musty smell. The second day our room was no better than our first day. At breakfast the first day ALL the apples were rotten, the oranges were not much better. Nothing was kept stocked up and people were waiting for food. We had to go into the kitchen and ask for food to be put out. There was not much coffee, the decanters kept running dry with no back-ups out. We also have an issue with the fact that there were no ice machines on the first floor as one of us is disabled. We had asked for a room for a person with disabilities and did not get one.
At breakfast the second day there was the most wonderful gentleman working the breakfast buffet. He set our table for us and cleared our plates. Everything was well stocked and hot. Every day's breakfast should be like our second day.
In addition, when we stayed at a Holiday Inn Express in Decatur, GA in late March they provided paper plates and plastic ware if you chose to snack in your room. It would be nice if all hotels did the same. Plus we got a priority club bag for both of us in GA.
