Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Noisy Before I put my comment in, people should know that we stay in this hotel every time we are in the Johnstown area. The one problem the hotel has is the noise you get from the guests who are in the room right above the one you are in. Regardless of how lightly someone walks across the floor in a 2nd or 3rd floor room, the sound is very noticeable in the room directly underneath. Therefore, if you are a light sleeper and either want to turn in early or get up later the next morning, I highly suggest that you do your best to get a 3rd floor room. This is what we do. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by On the Road Again On 13 October the Wife Puppyface and I went on a roadtrip to PA to find my wife's Great Grandparents house. Prior to our leaving I did some research to find out which hotels in the area were pet friendly. Mind you a lot of hotels put restrictions on pets ie size, breed or both. I pleased to find out that Holiday Inn Express did neither. You see Puppyface is only a year old 65lbs German Shepard with a heart of gold unless the wife is by herself. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by a warm and comfortable lobby, as well as a welcoming and professional staff. When checking in I upgraded us to a Jacuzzi suite to sooth our sore bones from the five hour trek from Lower Slower Delaware to PA. Glad I did, after unpacking the car and getting settled in, a jacuzzi was a great end to a long day, not to worry Puppyface didnt partake, she curled up in her bed and laid down, more about her bed later. The next morning we got up and I headed down to the breakfast bar to bring some coffee and goodies back to the room. The breakfast bar put to shame some breakfast buffets I have been to. The variety of breakfast choices was great. So after breakfast and a morning ritual for all, we headed out on our way. About a half hour out I realized we had forgotten the bed, yes the one mentioned earlier. I called the hotel and was put in touch with housekeeping who found it and was holding it for us. Since our return trip would be no where near the hotel, I inquired to shipping it. When told by housekeeping they could do that, and could use our information from our reservation to pay for the shipping. A disaster averted by the good people at Holiday Inn Express. I will bring this long winded review to end by saying if you are in the Johnstown are for business or pleasure make sure you stop at the Inn especially if traveling with your furry friend. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Good except smoke smell in room This hotel has great potential with the exception of the strong smell of cigarette smoke in the "non-smoking" room I was given. October 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Business Trip I've stayed at this hotel before and have always had good service and clean room. Plus it's within walking distance of local restaurant and shopping. October 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Huge hot tub. I have stayed in quite a few Jacuzzi suites, and this was by far the most spacious tub I have ever had in my room. It had good water pressure as well, so it filled up fairly fast. October 9, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not Typical We have stayed at this property in the past and our experience this trip was not typical. Our room smelled terribly of stale cigarette smoke. Due to being sold out of our particular room type for the night, the hotel staff did offer a discounted rate on the room, however, due to the intensity of the smell it made for a very uncomfortable stay for the night. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Absolutely Terrific! Thanks for excellent accommodations! My room was perfect, the gym was just what I needed and breakfast was delicious with lots to chose from. Thank you! October 7, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent shuttle service, poor front desk experience and bad rooms Shuttle service was prompt and pleasant. Front desk was unapologetic when our reservation was mistakenly canceled by them. Our entire party felt very uncomfortable dealing with the front desk. Our room was smaller than described over the phone, the air conditioning unit did not work, the actual room smelled like paint fumes, and we woke up around 4 am covered in spider bites. Two days later and the bites are still swollen, sore and itchy on our hands and backs. We called the hotel to have the room bombed for spiders and insects. October 7, 2014
