My friend and I get together twice yearly, and we always stay at the HI Express in Westport. We've always had great experiences here, beginning with an extremely helpful and friendly front desk staff. The rooms are comfortable and well maintained, the breakfast is free and provides a good selection for just about anyone. We plan on staying there again this fall.

A fine hotel. Despite the terrible weather, all staff were friendly and helpful. Room was very clean. I had no qualms about walking on the carpet barefoot, using the tub, or getting between the sheets. No funny carpet smells, no fuzzy corners, no worries. My request for Toilet paper was fulfilled before I could return to my room. Front desk very helpful, and friendly. All public areas of the hotel clean, as well. Very quiet, very safe.

We stayed at the night before our son was to be admitted into a near by hospital, so we were travling with a sick 2 year old. The room was nice and good sized, The bathroom was horrible, The shower rod was pulling out of the wall and the curtain would not stay closed due to the angle of the rod. The tub stopper didn't stay closed. The shower had dirt stains and the bathroom was in bad need to repairs/updates. The front desk clerk was very nice and helpful.

I stay at Holiday Inn Express hotels all across the country and I have always had a good experience with this one. The staff is always cheerful and helpful; the rooms and facility clean and ready. I highly recommend the experience.

This HIE was great, especially the kind and enthusiastic staff. The location near the very cool Westport neighborhood of KC was really nice for walking around and near restuarants, shops, and the Beaumont Club.
Accidentally got billed three times for one nights stay but the check-in staff took care of it right away.

We had a very bad experience at this hotel during my stay on 12/05/12. The shower did not work and there was no hot water. The most important and critical thing was wi-fi does not work from either room or lobby. I was hoping to get some work done but it was insane. The poor maintenance guy does not have any clue as such. The wi-fi keeps bumping up and down and I have to reboot my pc several times. At the end of the day I did not get any work done. It was very bad day.

Lobby area was under construction when we arrived and if it was anything like the room, that's a good sign. Upon entering our room we found the TV on, the bed slept in and towels on the floor. We immediately went back to the front desk and it took the desk clerk two more tries before she could find a clean room, which happened to be a suite, so she bumped us up at "no charge".
Our room was clean, which is my #1 concern, however the place needed an updating. The toilet tank had a slow leak onto the floor behind the toilet so the grout under & around the toilet was mildewed. The shower curtain was stained. The bed and pillows were too soft which makes it seem that they were well-used. There was no outlet near the bed/nightstand so we had to charge our phone at the desk across the room. The window sheer had a large tear in it. While the breakfast choices were good, all of the prepared food was barely eatable. The eggs looked like pancakes.

Just wanted to comment on the staff serving breakfast the morning I was there. I have to say I was quite disappointed in the service I received. One of the reasons why I choose to stay at a Holiday Inn Express is because of the breakfast service. When I arrived for breakfast that morning there were no cinnamon rolls nor biscuits and gravy. The frustrating thing is that all the staff had to do was put more out but they waited until someone asked for them. By the time this happened everyone had to wait for them to warm up and instead of putting two trays of rolls out like normal, they only put one. It's a small issue, but I know others had to feel the same way.

During the last several years I have enjoyed staying at this Holiday Inn. The rooms have always been clean and a good price for what you get. The desk clerk has a wonderful accent and is very helpful.

Obviously an older property. Non-smoking room assigned smelled strongly of stale smoke. A staff member came up and sprayed the room-masking the smoke smell.

The room had dirty towels beneath the lounge chair that reeked.
The shower curtain was so contaminated with mildew, about 3 square feet, we had to request it be replaced. The tub-shower wall liner had mildew hanging off the wall for about six inches.
I travel a lot and routinely use Holiday Inn Express all over the USA. This was by far the worst cleaning of a room I have ever seen.
To their credit, as soon as we informed the front desk staff of the issue, it was taken care of. I am disappointed that they did not catch a situation that obviously existed for some time.
Where was their quality check of staff room cleaning up???

The room was fair--- floor needed to be vacuumed but bed seemed clean and comfortable.
Bathroom---shower pressure was very weak and shower curtain rod was broken. Obviously, there was needed maintenance in the room that had been ignored for a long time.
Elevators and overall maintenance of the lobby, hallways, etc. were in fair to rundown condition.
Breakfast was free and surprisingly good. Hot eggs, bacon, biscuits, cereal, milk, yogurt, coffee.
Staff was friendly and accomodating.
