I would not recommend this hotel. There was insufficient parking. Overflow parking was in an unlit, unpaved trailer park adjacent the property. The bed sagged and were badly worn. The continental breakfast was minimal and unimpressive. Extremely overpriced, even for a known tourist area.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by JSta Great breakfast and friendly staff.
I was surprised that the pool closed so early. We have kids and intentionally stay in hotels with pools so I was surprised that when we got back from Mt.Rushmore it was closed. However, I was a little confused on the time change and the staff allowed my family to eat breakfast a half hour early, that meant a lot especially with kids that have low blood sugar issues. The room was a good size with fridge and microwave. However, the bathroom had a used shower cap hanging on the towel holder, must have been a oversight by cleaning. Other than that a decent hotel.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Stan3507 Stay in Rapid City - Drive in to Mt. Rushmore
Parking is a problem. Rooms are old too. If you are visiting Mt. Rushmore, I would suggest that you stay in Rapid City and drive in. Restaurants in Keystone are poor quality. Mt. Rushmore is a great historical park to visit, just don't stay in Keystone

Great room. Comfortable bed. Very helpful and friendly staff. However, I had asked for adjoining rooms and we didn't get that. Rooms were on separate floors. Breakfast is served at 6:30am so if traveling and leaving early in the morning it is not accessible.

We had a King room with an in-room jacuzzi, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff at the front desk was very nice, the room was clean, and the price was good. The only thing that could have been better is if the cable tv had a greater selection and the tv remote didn't work. But those things are minor. Will definitely stay there again if/when we return to Keystone. :-)

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Johnbon99 Good location - horrible coffee
It's a great location - nice and close to Mt. Rushmore, but breakfast selection is horrible, with the exception of the delicious cinnamon rolls. We are not coffee connoisseurs, but this coffee was horribly weak. We've found this to be true at all three Holiday Inn Express hotels we stayed at this week.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Calinco Just okay
This property is in a great location!! The mattresses in our room were tired and needed to be replaced. We stay at Holiday Inn Express mainly for the comfort of the beds and that was not happening here. No desk The property is otherwise well kept. The breakfast was insufficient for the amount of people.
When in this area again we will choose another place to stay as we did not feel it was a good value.

We spent two nights at the Keystone Holiday Inn Express and the desk service (L and B) went beyond our expectations to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. They helped us find a place to eat and gave us suggestions on what to do and see on our stay. Would recommend this Holiday Inn Express to tourists in the Keystone area,

The hotel and all the staff at the Keystone Holiday Inn were helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. They offered a map that was changed and noted depending on what you wanted to do or see that day. The hotel was clean and well stocked with a microwave, refrigerator, coffee pot, and cups with lids to take your coffee with you.

We come to the Black Hills quite often but this is the first time we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Keystone. Usually we stay in Hill City but because of the date, Hill City was not available. We have always been happy with the Holiday Inn Express' so when I found out it was open in Keystone I booked it right away. We stay at Holiday Inn Express because we know they will be clean and they are always friendly.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rosswell Great Staff, Clean Property
At check-in we were greeted by Lawanda and Summer, two friendly, inviting and welcoming individuals. The lobby was clean and nicely decorated to compliment the natural beauty that surrounds this property. The cleanliness of the guest room, including the bathroom, was amazing. I even pulled furniture out to see what was behind or underneath the furniture and found nothing! Breakfast was much better than anticipated as we generally don't eat breakfast.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by allanorn Good room, challenging parking, great location
I stayed here two nights to visit a couple of national parks in the area. For visiting Mount Rushmore, this property's location can't be beat - it takes maybe six or seven minutes tops to get to the park entrance from walking out of the hotel.
It is a busy location. There were lots of families with kids around the pool area. If you're looking for a dead-quiet place to chill out, this isn't the Holiday Inn location I'd recommend. The rooms are as quiet as you can expect and on par with other Holiday Inns and HI Expresses. The room was well maintained, the bed was comfortable, and the cleaning staff was very good.
No upgrade as a Platinum member, but there may not be a room type to upgrade to at the property. Breakfast fare is the typical Holiday Inn Express food.
The primary downside of the property is that parking is a little thin. There aren't a ton of spaces on-property. I was fortunate to find on-property parking when I needed it, but it's conceivable that you need to park on the street. The off-property parking apparently has lots of signs, restrictions, and is backed up by the city who apparently has the towing companies trained like vultures circling a wounded animal. The staff warned me of this and it pays to be mindful of the parking restrictions.
If you're OK with lots of families with kids and/or need a closer hotel to Mount Rushmore, I definitely give this location a thumbs-up.
