An average hotel. While the condition of the rooms has improved since my last stay, the breakfast options and wi-fi were lacking and there is not gym.

I stayed here a few weeks ago. I made reservations 2 weeks early. They were booked except for a few smoking rooms. I understood this and booked the Smoking King room but asked if a non-smoking opened up for me to be moved there. I got there and opened my room only to find a smoking double. I asked the front and they said that they thought this would would be better because in their opinion smelled less than their King bed. I said smoking is smoking so I wanted my king bed back and they should have asked me first before switching me out. They said it was already given to someone else and there is nothing they could do! Got to my room and some of the TV channels would not come through...they came through but were all fuzzy, not really viewable. In the bathroom, the aerator in the sink was broken causing a hard stream of water to come out when it was turned on, soaking my shirt and pants because of the splash. I was very careful on how I turned the sink on after that. The internet was very intermittent. Sometimes it worked great, other times it was very slow. I just ended up using my cellular data to FaceTime with my wife and kids as it was more reliable. There are power outlets in the lamps next to the beds so you can charge your phone, those outlets though would only work if I wrapped the cord around the lamp to keep the plug from falling out of the socket. On the plus though, I would say the room was clean. The maids did a great job, the maintenance staff, not so much. To fix the smoke smell, I just went to Walmart and bought a can of Frebreeze and that helped out a lot. I was prepared for the smoking smell, but the other stuff I was not. Breakfast was your normal hotel breakfast except even though they knew the hotel was full, there was only 5 tables in the breakfast area. Two tables with two chairs, 2 tables with 3 chairs. Only enough for 10 total people to sit and eat. Everyone else, had to go back to their rooms to eat. It felt to me that maintenance is something that is never done on that property, front desk customer service comes after they are done having their conversations with the other employees in the laundry room (which is right behind the front desk, where you can hear them chatting), and planning ahead (putting more tables out in breakfast when at higher capacity) is only a something in fiction books. I would not stay there or recommend staying there again. I would drive to a Holiday Inn in a different city and commute before staying there again.

I frequently stay at the Holiday Inn Dahlgren. The hotel is clean and exceptionally well kept. The staff is courteous and efficient. I have not experience any problems during my visits.

The hotel is clean and comfortable, and the breakfast has a good selection of choices. The lack of an exercise room however makes it likely that I would choose other properties in the area if they have an exercise facility.

More than you'd expect. No complaints other than that the customer service hotline would not credit me for club points during my stay because it was with the military.

Can't knock it considering the choices available in Dahlgren.
Desperately in need of material upgrade.
Loud (the guy next door was coughing all night).
Front desk staff was the standout.
