Quality of hotel seems to have diminished over the last few years. Stay once per year and overall maintenance is slipping. Rm. 101 was a very odd, huge room above noisy lobby. No bedside lamps, mismacthed funiture, only one chair at table and all noise from lobby seemed to find it's way into room. Staff was sympathetic and tried to help. When needed extra chairs for family in standard room they delivered quickly. Std. room doors need sealing. Bath door didn't latch. Overall, not a impressed as used to be. Rm. 101 MAY have been seen as an upgrade for club membership but was not as good a standard room. Will consider whether to stay again next year.

Hotel availability is very limited in this area. This hotel would have been ideal if not for the ordor of cigarettte smole in the room. I specifically requested a non-smoking first floor room and I got neither. The smell of smoke was in the walls and in the carpet. Considering how smoke rises, perhaps the first floor can be reserved for non-smokers or maybe just go non-smoking all the way.

The Staff Was Exceptional! Everyone was courteous and professional.
Every time I entered or exited via the front door I was greeted with a smile. That goes a long way, especially for someone stay9ing at the hotel for business. Generally the people working the desk would stand and say hello.

I stay there every year and am always pleased. This year the only difference was the wonderfully soft sheets! Your hotel is always clean and the personnel are courteous and helpful.

Great typical Holiday Inn Express Room. Good bed, not as good as my bed but good. Clean. Friendly Staff. Great breakfast. Most importantly, they accommodated our need for a first floor room so our autistic son could stim as he need. The only downside is that the entire first floor hallway smells strongly of cigarettes. Luckily, we couldn't smell them in our room.

We stayed there for a extended weekend, pool could us some attention but was fair. Breakfast was nice and more then adequate. The room was spacious, new flat screen TV's, the mattress was middle to fair. Overall the place is a good stop. Lots of amenities right in the immediate area.

Staff was very accommodating with any request, I would like to see a little more acknowledgement for membership status levels. The room was very spacious an the room temperature was also comfortable. The hotel Iitself was upgraded and or new, the breakfast area was large enough and kid friendly. There was plenty to choose from, I would like go see more fruit on the line, this would allow for those people who would rather eat light and healthy.
Additionally there is a Walmart very close, some eating places and if you are there the base less than 10mins.
Overall the they kept with the tradition of the brand name. I will become a routine visitor.

I was here for two weeks on business. Staff was friendly, courteous, helpful. Room was clean, comfortable, well-serviced. Pool was adequate, though I just enjoyed sitting during the evenings. Breakfast was adequate, standard for HIE. Wireless worked consistently well. Bed was very comfortable, clean. Bill was correct. I will stay here again.

Staff were very friendly. Check-in was quick. Location is very easy to find.
This was my second time at this property, this time I stayed 4 nights. Normally, I love HI Express, but this location was a disappointment.
Each night, there was excessive noise, either from the front desk area, people chatting loudly in the halls, or neighboring rooms. Walls and doors are not sound-proof. I killed a wasp the first day, and housekeeping never removed it. It sat on the air conditioner throughout my stay. Bed was way too soft. Felt like it was 10+ years old.
Although I'm HI Platinum, this site didn't offer me anything (nor did I ask), but other properties typically offer a snack and a bottle of water.

I have often stayed at this hotel since 2000 and keep coming back for several reasons. First, it is very close to the Dahlgren naval base, Potomac River, and Dahlgren area. It is right off the highway. Second, the staff is personable, caring, friendly, and top notch. They have gone above and beyond in many cases, such as friendly conversation, telling me of upcoming events such as policy changes or hotel improvements, reminding me of future reservations, double-checking to make sure my reservations are correct, often asking if they can help with anything, and fixing anything that is (rarely) wrong, such as a TV remote not working. Third, the rooms are clean and comfortable. I have noticed many improvements in the past 13 years, which is a good sign of an owner that cares. Improvements that I have noticed include upgrades to the televisions, furniture, wall paper, carpet, shower heads, internet, pillows, and buffet station to name a few. Free wireless internet and breakfast station make it a good value, and there is plenty of parking.

I stay at this Express time to time when I come to Dahlgren. All the staff goes above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. I love their suites with living area and second flat screen tv. Internet is much better than before. Conveniently located to where I go for work. I would definitely recommend this Express to everyone who comes to Dahlgren.

This is a very nice property, convenient to the work I do at the Dahlgren Naval facility.
The walls between rooms are very thin and noise gets through, so when you go here, try to arrange for a room that has no neighbors, and you'll be fine.
