Good all-round experience. I booked H.I.E. because I strayed at their Manchester Oxford Road hotel and found that really comfortable and pleasant. Hull is not a bad facility, rooms where decent enough and the bar facilities and staff were good.
Didn't have breakfast - so cannot comment on that.
Just one negative. Parking to check in is difficult. You need to first park in a multi-story shopping complex first. (Charged at £7 per day) Difficult if you don't know the geography. Would have been nice to check in and get that information first from reception.
Overall a good experience and plenty to do - shopping, places to eat (great little noodle bar close by) and entertainment all on the doorstep!

I have stayed at this hotel several times and always enjoy it. This time I won a free night so it was even more special. It is next to Hull Truck Theatre on one side and St. Stephen's shopping centre on the other and is also close to other shopping. An excellent stay as always

The young lady (didn't catch name but was running 10k charity run on Sunday) was extremely helpful in all ways and even carried some of our luggage to our room. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Extremely good value for such a central location.

Can I start with the fact that I do not normally stay in budget type hotel accomodation but what I can say is that this hotel exceeds hotels I have stayed in within the £100 plus per night category.
Hotel was immaculate, staff very welcoming from the outset and continued that throughout my stay. Breakfast was very good, they say food option is limited but I found it plentty and it was of good quality. It is also right in the centre with a 24 hour Tesco next door within an upscale mall.
Room was very good and given they give free wi-fi and breakfast included in my £40 per night charge I think you would be hard pushed to beat this hotel for value anywhere in the UK. This hotel is a credit to its staff and management.

we have stayed here a number of times and it never disappoints the staff are friendly and helpful the breakfast although limited in choice is very nice indeed. on this stay we were chatting to the cleaner on our departure and she was really friendly which in my experience elsewhere is very rare.

Stay here every couple of months for work, polite staff who remember me and greet me like an old friend. Clean comfy quiet rooms with all you need for a nights sleep. Breakfast ;serve yourself, ample and tasty ( maybe some bacon would make a change from the sausages), plenty of fruit and cereal choices , and BBC news on the TV to catch up with the world too! Restaurant available too and room service , but cant comment as not used them but menu looks good. Basic Bar area but not heavily used, more a quiet TV area
Highly recommend for a weekend stay to tour East Yorks and Hull, or as I do , overnight from working away.

We had a twin bedded room which had a door to the adjoining room - obviously for families
The tv in that room was very loud and still on at 2 am.
To be fair when I phoned reception they did deal with it and after 15 mins the TV was turned off.
But was it necessary to use that room if the hotel was not fully booked. Better those rooms reserved for family units

The visit was spoilt by the excesive car parking charge of £7.00 every time you left the car park. This put over £20 on the bill which made the stay more expensive than if we had stopped with the competition. This charge should not be charged to hotel guests or refunded as at other chains.
The hot food at the breakfast was poor - dried out and overcooked. Very limited choice on the rest. Not as good as when stopping at other Holiday Inn Express hotels I use
Several of the evening meals were not available and only one member of staff on the restaurant. Very poor so ate out.
Will not use this hotel again

Great location and value for money. Staff friendly and good breakfast. Clean room and good bathroom. Only complain would be that the bed is very small and the mattress very thin and uncomfortable, but for one night ok.

Probably the biggest Express I have stayed in, attached to a large shopping centre. The location is perfect. The hotel has free wifi throughout and comes with all the normal express rooms and services.
The car park could be a little better signed as you do share with the shopping centre.
Overall a good stay and I would book again.

the breakfast choice is good but the quality is disgraceful. The baked beans, scrambled eggs and sausages looked like they had been there a couple of days! Dried out and stuck to their pans.
A shame as every thing else very good - especially a vey helpful night staff

The hotel room was comfortable and the staff incredibly helpful.
However, the stay was completely ruined by the guests in the room next to us, who were incredibly loud until after 4am.
Not only that, but the fire alarm was set off (it was a false alarm, possibly set off by the same guests mentioned above) in the middle of the night.
The combination of noise and having to vacate the building meant that we got very little sleep after a busy day - which ruined the stay.
I cannot recommend this hotel, as it was unable to fulfill its most basic function.

the hotel was clean,but very cold,three of us stayed in one room,and the sofa bed was very uncomfortable .also the breakfast was cold.But after saying that i have stayed in a lot of these hotels,and will continue to do so,think this is just a one off.Also we could not get an evening meal as advertised because we were told they were closed for meals.

We stayed for 1 night at the hotel and were happy with the stay. The room was clean, with usual amenities, and the bathroom was tidy and clean too. The staff were helpful and well presented, the breakfast was good too, a nice choice of cooked or cereal and toast and fruit.
Overall no complaints! It was a pleasant stay, a comfortable stay and I would stay there again :). Thank you!

THE HEATING WAS POOR IN THE ROOM. AND WE HAD TO CONSTANTLY GO TO THE RECEPTION, TO HAVE THIS SORTED, WE WERE GIVEN A HEATER, TO PLUG IN, AND TOLD WE WERE TO ASK FOR THE HEATING TO BE TURNED ON . THIS IS WINTER I WOULD NOT EXPECT TO HAVE TO ASK FOR HEATING TO BE SUPPLIED IT SHOULD BE A GIVEN.

As a whole it is a nice hotel but as we stayed on 7th floor and going out on the town is a very important issue,the bathroom facilities plays a major part whether going to a restaurant/show/cinema or just going for a drink,when I used the shower there was hardly any pressure there to enjoy a shower, this was dissappointing considering this is a relativlly new hotel.....not good enough

All budget hotels exist to serve a need at a price point; having meet the standard for a Hoilday Inn Express, Hull justs adds that little extra.
Parking under cover and great evening food.
Something was wrong on my last visit, Rebecca had it quickly resolved, good customer service needs to be recognised.
With no fee forthcoming from Hoilday Inn... thats all I have time for...cheers

I stayed at this hotel in December when I arrived the young man at the frount desk explained everything I ask of him he is a credit to the hotel as is the rest of the staff i met, the room was excellent, clean & tidy. Breakfast was basic but still ok the hotel is in a great location with the secure car park at the rear. I dont understand some of the negative comments made by a few but I will always stay in this hotel when I visit in the future.

I usually stay at the HI Marina however now too expensive so decided to book this hotel for 3 nights as an alternative. On arrival I found that my heating wasn't working but was given another room and the staff kindly helped me to move. Location is good next to Stephens shopping centre which is handy for Tesco and restaurants: I decided to eat in the hotel for 2 nights and was quite impressed at the quality of food for a HIX. All staff were very helpful and i will stay at this hotel in the future even if the room charges at the Marina conme down.

My daughter & I stayed for one night so that she could attend a University interview. The location was perfect, right next to the train and bus station and also very convenient for shopping and looking round the city. We were able to leave bags at the hotel whilst she went to her interview and I shopped and visited a museum and the art gallery. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The only thing it lacked was a second chair.
I had read some bad reviews about the breakfasts but we found them more than adequate and having breakfast included in the room price made our stay very good value.
