Hotel in town centre parking is in st stephens car park next to hotel, £7 for 24 hours if you stay at the hotel, if you want to take your car out between your stay you have to pay again to exit the car park which is a rip off , we stayed for 2 days Friday & Saturday. On checking in we were informed that the restaurant was not serving food over the weekend only breakfast, which is very poor for a hotel the size of the holiday inn express. the staff at this hotel need re training in customer service skills, there is know interaction with the guest. The breakfast is one of the worst iv ever experienced, I only had a yoghurt on both days, yes there was other dried up hot food if you like that for breakfast, would never stay in this hotel again whilst visiting hull.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Grinch Holiday Inn Hull express
I stayed here for two nights with wife and two small boys, (reward nights). Hotel was as is the case with IHG consistently clean, tidy and in a good state of repair. Rooms were clean and tidy as was all the facilities. Staff were exceptionally nice and pleasant, genuine, not just the painted on result of training. There were three things that took shine off - Wifi kept dropping, parking - although very convenient and link from the multistorey of St Stephens to the hotel is seconds walk, £7 per night doesnt feel best value and finally breakfast. I stay in these hotels weekly and have learnt express breakfasts are hit and miss. This hotels missed on first day (food not replenished , i ate at 9am so feel sorry for the later arrivals for breakfast, but second day was plentiful and fresh - so perhaps just a hickup.

Room was excellent, very clean and tidy. just a shower, but what a powerfully shower.
Secure lift to floors.
Centrally located which is a massive plus.
Reception staff and check in very efficient. Becs (I think this was the you ladies name), was very helpfull on suggesting places to have a drink and point this on a map for me and the wife.
Would I come again, yes, thinking about it already.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 10nelson1805 Overnight in Hull.
The Holiday Inn Express in Hull is easy to locate as it is a modern building attached to a multi-storey carpark just off the City centre. This unique feature means that you can park up in the dry and enter the hotel in the same way. This would be a very useful thing in the winter!!. The staff are very courteous and helpful and checking in was a good experience. The bar/dining area is quite spaceous and airy and has a veranda that overlooks the city some little way below. The rooms are an adequate size, but maybe a little cramped if there"s a few of you, but at the price that is of small consequence. The breakfast bar is well stocked with all the usual favourites and you can help yourself to as much as you like. Overall my stay at the Holiday Inn was a good experience and I would stay again if in the area.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sidneyboy Almost excellent
Location of hotel excellent for me and my partner - we could see Hull Truck Theatre from our room. The room was spotless, modern and utilised the smallish space well. Location of car park is great - you can practically fall into reception from level 2. Reception staff were polite, friendly and informative. Breakfast was good overall. The waiters were very good. However, the waitress did not disguise her irritation at guests arriving later, nearer to restaurant closing time. If you advertise breakfast until 11.30am then it should be served until then. Staff were starting to clear away well before this time so anyone arriving after 11.15 found less on the menu. I actually felt I was in the way of some staff when i returned to the food area. Anyone arriving at 11.31am found the shutters closed. Also, the orange juice was vile and cheap and if you can't serve decent coffee then don't bother. If not for my restaurant gripes I would give top marks all round.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Great location and great hotel.
Visited Hull 2.5 years ago as part of a group and wanted to come back to see Hull properly. And this was the obvious choice of hotel as I remembered its location, facilities and staff to be perfect for a weekend break. Would recommend the balcony outside the bar as a perfect place to soak up the evening sunshine (if you're visiting in summer like us of course). Staff were very helpful and efficient: top marks to them (Becs and A.N.Other - sorry forgotten name). Inclusive breakfast was a nice bonus I'd forgotten about. Looking forward to visiting Hull again maybe next bank holiday for another long weekend. A much underrated city for shops and nightlife. The Old Town pubs are not to be missed.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Where was the car park?
Very handy location in the city centre, next to the railway station. You can walk from here to most of the city's main attractions. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room, on the 5th floor, was mainly quiet, though there was some noise at night from the station 'courtyard', which seems to be a gathering place for the local bored youth. Our main criticism is that the hotel's written directions don't make it clear that its car park is actually the St Stephens shopping centre car park (we were looking in vain for a Holiday Inn Express CP). If we'd known that we'd have saved ten minutes going twice round the houses!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Catherine89 Good value and excellent staff
Recently stayed here since will be moving to the area soon and was looking around for places to rent. The receptionist on the desk went to the trouble of pointing out the nicer areas of Hull and recommending some estate agents.
Additionally, found the price really reasonable since booked up in advance. Didn't actually realise breakfast was included at first so that was a nice surprise.
Overall, would definitely recommend

Street entrance needs two way commas with reception. Remove smelly cigarette box from below intercom. Need diagram to show where car park is after arriving at street entrance by sat nav. Otherwise excellent.

The breakfast has a variety of hot & cold food which suits everyone
We checked in with the receptionist who was called Dave he was most polite and friendly, we wanted to go to a bar but didn't know where it was Dave went out of his way to help, he is a credit to the business.

The hotel is in an excellent location for exploring the city and it is close to the Bus and Rail Interchange.
We were given a room on the 7th Floor with a marvellous view overlooking the city and the Humber Bridge in the distance.
The room was very comfortable and well appointed - everything within it that we needed.
All Staff were very pleasant and helpful so our 5 Day Break was most enjoyable and we hope to repeat the experience next year.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Phil1959 not normal HI experience
when you arrive you can park the car out the front of the hotel for a few minutes, just enough time to go up to reception and get details of where the car park is. once parked you enter the hotel from the car park level.
i was not greeted and welcomed as you would expect at a HI hotel. the room is the normal lay out and clean and in good conditiion. Breakfast was ok but he scrambled egg was watery. evening meal ok but very poor service, i was kept waiting for several minutes while 2 staff attended to another customer, when finally served had to wait again for change with no excuses for very slow service.
Have stayed at several HI won't be using this one again

Good all-round experience. I booked H.I.E. because I strayed at their Manchester Oxford Road hotel and found that really comfortable and pleasant. Hull is not a bad facility, rooms where decent enough and the bar facilities and staff were good.
Didn't have breakfast - so cannot comment on that.
Just one negative. Parking to check in is difficult. You need to first park in a multi-story shopping complex first. (Charged at £7 per day) Difficult if you don't know the geography. Would have been nice to check in and get that information first from reception.
Overall a good experience and plenty to do - shopping, places to eat (great little noodle bar close by) and entertainment all on the doorstep!

I have stayed at this hotel several times and always enjoy it. This time I won a free night so it was even more special. It is next to Hull Truck Theatre on one side and St. Stephen's shopping centre on the other and is also close to other shopping. An excellent stay as always

The young lady (didn't catch name but was running 10k charity run on Sunday) was extremely helpful in all ways and even carried some of our luggage to our room. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Extremely good value for such a central location.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by northoftheborder Not my normal but this hotel was fantastic
Can I start with the fact that I do not normally stay in budget type hotel accomodation but what I can say is that this hotel exceeds hotels I have stayed in within the £100 plus per night category.
Hotel was immaculate, staff very welcoming from the outset and continued that throughout my stay. Breakfast was very good, they say food option is limited but I found it plentty and it was of good quality. It is also right in the centre with a 24 hour Tesco next door within an upscale mall.
Room was very good and given they give free wi-fi and breakfast included in my £40 per night charge I think you would be hard pushed to beat this hotel for value anywhere in the UK. This hotel is a credit to its staff and management.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by danielsreef City centre location, great staff
Stay here every couple of months for work, polite staff who remember me and greet me like an old friend. Clean comfy quiet rooms with all you need for a nights sleep. Breakfast ;serve yourself, ample and tasty ( maybe some bacon would make a change from the sausages), plenty of fruit and cereal choices , and BBC news on the TV to catch up with the world too! Restaurant available too and room service , but cant comment as not used them but menu looks good. Basic Bar area but not heavily used, more a quiet TV area
Highly recommend for a weekend stay to tour East Yorks and Hull, or as I do , overnight from working away.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Alys Noise from adjoining room
We had a twin bedded room which had a door to the adjoining room - obviously for families
The tv in that room was very loud and still on at 2 am.
To be fair when I phoned reception they did deal with it and after 15 mins the TV was turned off.
But was it necessary to use that room if the hotel was not fully booked. Better those rooms reserved for family units

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Robbie51 Spoilt by the breakfast and car parking charges
The visit was spoilt by the excesive car parking charge of £7.00 every time you left the car park. This put over £20 on the bill which made the stay more expensive than if we had stopped with the competition. This charge should not be charged to hotel guests or refunded as at other chains.
The hot food at the breakfast was poor - dried out and overcooked. Very limited choice on the rest. Not as good as when stopping at other Holiday Inn Express hotels I use
Several of the evening meals were not available and only one member of staff on the restaurant. Very poor so ate out.
Will not use this hotel again

Great location and value for money. Staff friendly and good breakfast. Clean room and good bathroom. Only complain would be that the bed is very small and the mattress very thin and uncomfortable, but for one night ok.
