The area surrounding La Plata is beautiful. Make sure to take a ride down Chapel Point Rd.

Been staying at the Holiday Inn in LaPlata at the sme time every year for the last five years. Never had a bad stay.
Only issue is that the breakfast offering has gone way down. Miss the waffle maker and the "egg product" is no substitute for real eggs.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by MamaGee Very stressful, terrible service, and disgusting room odor
I booked a weekend reservation at this hotel online. I requested a non-smoking/2bed room because I was traveling with 2 teenagers and 1 child. I called the hotel ahead of time to let them know I would be arriving late and to make sure everything was set for my arrival. We arrived around 10 pm, got checked in an went up to the room. We immediately noticed the strong smell of smoke in the room and also the fact that there was a king bed which did not suit our needs. My reservation confirmation, clearly states that I had 4 guests. I returned to the front desk and asked to be moved to the correct room. The guy at the front desk told me that there was nothing they could do for me because they were booked up for the weekend and the online reservation came in as a "flow through". I am not exactly sure what that means, but I do know that as customer, I should not have been inconvenienced due to a poorly designed communication system between online reservations to the actual hotel. I found this to be the most ridiculous excuse for such a large hotel chain!! I asked to speak to a manager since it was too late for me, a woman alone with children, to go out hotel shopping by myself in an unfamiliar area. if I had to be uncomfortable and inconvenienced, I should expect some sort of discount, or for the chain to find me a suitable alternative. If nothing else, you would think that someone would have at least attempted to make us more comfortable. The manager had absolutely no customer service skills, he was unwilling to help me out in any way whatsoever. They told me to accept the room or find another hotel. Easier said than done in that area when there were weekend events going on and as I stated before, it was late, and I was alone with my 3 kids. I called the Holiday inn customer relations number, I was on hold for almost 20 minutes the first time, while they called the front desk to try to resolve the problem. The guy at the front desk still offered no resolution. In fact, he completely ignored that I was standing there still waiting. He got off the phone and instead of addressing me, he counted money, looked on the computer, slammed drawers violently and answered phone calls as if I wasn't even there. I asked him what had been decided and he said "nothing, i already tried telling you there's nothing we can do". I called customer relations again, to be placed on hold off and on for almost 45 minutes while they argued back and forth with the front desk guy. My children fell asleep in the lobby and I had no choice but to #at least temporarily# accept the room. While my children slept, I remained on the line with customer relations. One of my children had to sleep on the floor so that we could all have enough room. In the end, customer relations agreed to investigate the reservation I made to determine if I should be credited for my first night stay. They suggested that I check out in the morning and offered me phone numbers to other hotels in the area. I most definitely planned on checking out as soon as the sun came up. At first, I thought the problem was just this particular location, but I am extremely disappointed in the whole chain. They did absolutely nothing to honor my reservation and even went as far as to change their story several times from saying that the website had a "hiccup" to claiming that I requested my reservation that way. As for their investigation, I doubt that I will ever see my money back for that night because it was very clear that they only care about
their own pockets and I also doubt that they would admit to anything in my favor. By the time I got off the phone, it was already clear that I was not going to be staying there a second night. It is terrible that I had to stay up that late, in an uncomfortable, smelly room, and that it took that long for hotel management to offer any kind of help. I was offered a measly $20 discount for the extra guest charges, and a as soon as I started falling asleep, my children and I were awakened by a persistent knock on the door, by the very same rude front desk guy finally deciding to offer us a roll away bed. As if that would be an acceptable alternative to the queen beds I had booked. Not to mention that it didn't fix the stench in the room and the aggravation I dealt with for the prior 2 hours. I explained my disappointment to him and he stood in my room at 1AM rolling his eyes at me. I have never been treated like that at even the most inexpensive hotels. I am extremely disappointed.

I recently stayed at the Holdiay Inn LaPlata, MD for a wedding. I traveled with my family from NC to stay at the hotel for the entire weekend. Our accomodations that we reserved were ready when we arrived on Friday night. The wonderful staff greeted us with a smile and were very fast and efficient with checking us in so that we could put our two sleeping kids to bed. The next morning when we went down to breakfast we were greeted with a smile by the lady that was head of the complimentary breakfast area. The whole family enjoyed the breakfast and my kids loved that they were able to watch Disney cartoons at breakfast. Once breakfast was over I went to the front desk to see if I could arrange for my parents to have a room near us so that they would be near the grandkids. The lady at the front desk was very sweet and quickly arranged for their room to be right next to ours.
We arrived back at the hotel from the wedding on Saturday night around 8. We took the kids to the pool and then headed back to our room around 9:15 to put the kids to bed. Our room (#227) was located right above the conference/meeting room. A party was being held downstairs with a DJ that became very loud. My husband went to the desk the next morning to let them know how loud the event was in our room. The lady and the gentleman at the front desk were very nice. The assured my husband that they would take care up the room and that they were very sorry that we had been booked in that room with small children.
I would highly recommed this hotel to family and friends. The staff really cares about their customers. Anything can happen when you stay away from home, but how you and the situation are treated make all the difference in the world. Thank you Holiday Inn staff.

I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in LaPlata MD and had a great experience. I have been staying at this hotel twice a year for the last four years but when I arrived this time I had been upgraded to a King Suite with a Jacuzzi tub in the room! This was totally unexpected but a wonderful surprise.
I come to Budds Creek twice a year to ride the motocross track and at the end of the day, soaking in that hot tub felt so good.
I also relaxed at the indoor pool and hot tub with friends and the evening was complete.
The staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating, both night and morning managers.
I look forward to my Budds -Holiday Inn LaPlata stay every year and will continue to stay there as long as I can ride and visit Budds Creek. See you in November for two days.

I had a very pleasant stay at this property. My second night there the smoke detector keep going off. The staff had to come twice to change the battery, but that did not seem to help. I was moved to another room. The Staff was very patient and nice and gave excellent service. Thank you so much!

Odor in room upon entering not over powering, but caused severe headache during the night. Staff heard my complaint, said the room was recently renovated, and mentioned they would inform management. Received no communication for management about my stay or the customary email seeking my feedback..
