Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by My Experience at Lake Placid HI Express This is a nice looking hotel in a small, pleasant town. The hotel is kept up nicely and it has good parking. Housekeepers were prompt, knocking on our door at 8 am each morning. The front desk clerks were nice and knowledgable. They recommended a couple of good restaurants for us. I was surprised to find that even though my key folder stated they provided a complimentary newspaper each day, they in fact only provided one current newspaper. When I asked the front desk clerk why they didn't provide a daily newspaper, even though it said so on the key folder, she told me the paper was complimentary, and they had complimentary newspapers on the breakfast side table, even if they weren't current, they were complimentary. I believe that most people would think like I do -- we expect a daily newspaper during our hotel stays. Each day, I went to the gas station next door and purchased my own USA Today newspaper. I find it hard to believe they can deliver a daily newspaper to the business next door and not deliver it to the hotel, unless the hotel has chosen not to receive it. If that is the case, they should remove the information that they do provide a newspaper. Other than the newspaper issue, my stay with them was very nice. February 21, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sick and needed rest Thank you for everyones kindness while we were in town visiting friends. We were very sick from allergies and needed a lot of rest which we did comfortably. The lady in the food area was very concerned everyday on how we were feeling. That made me feel wanted at this hotel. I appreciated her concern. I enjoyed the hot tub. It helped me with my breathing. The beds and pillows were wonderful to sleep on. The quietness of the hotel was highly appreciated. Thank you for everything. Visitor from Jan. 28th - 30th. February 13, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Low water pressure Checkin was fast. The rooms in the back have a nice lake view. There are no restaurants adjacent to the hotel, but several down the street. Parking lot felt safe and was lighted. The room was spacious and clean. Water pressure at 7pm was low - it took longer than usual to wash the shampoo out of my long hair. I would be concerned if it was even lower in the am when more people are showering. Good TV channel lineup. Walls are thin - I could hear the conversation in the room next door. Nice business center downstairs. Breakfast was OK, but not as good as I had at another HIX the previous day. Biscuits were a bit hard and no gravy (as the other HIX offered). The egg-folded-over-cheese tasted processed and was not good. Sausage patties were good as were the warm cinnamon rolls. I did not try the pancake maker. There was a fridge with items like yogurt and hard-boiled eggs. I looked for butter for the biscuit and did not see any set out but perhaps it was in the fridge. The usual assortment of cereals and breads. Express checkout was fast. Overall it was good but could have been better. February 13, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well Kept and comfortable Hotel The room with a view of the lake was beautiful. The whole hotel was kept to a high standard throughout including the pool area. The reception staff were excellent as were the staff we met during breakfast. This was our first visit to Lake Placid and we can recommend a short stay in this pleasant, peaceful town. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Front Desk Clerk-Maureen Maureen needs an attitude adjustment. We arrived at the hotel at 11:30pm and she was extremely rude. It was as if we should not have been coming in that late and we were an inconvenience to her. She said: " I need your drivers license and credit card", rudely. She never said please and had a miserable look on her face the entire time. When we were going to our rooms she said to let her know if we needed anything else. I told her I would not ask her for the time of day. I wanted to speak to management about her the next morning and when I went to the front desk she was back at work. The lady that was working in the kitchen on Sunday morning was very sweet and the rest of the staff that I interacted with were nice. The maid knocked on my door at 9:15am and of course I was not ready to leave. You should tell your guests to put the sign on the door if the are not going to be out of their room prior to check out.
