Was at the hotel for two weeks. Great breakfast, clean room and very nice facilities.

I called in advance of arrival and was treated hatefully on the phone by Tony. He was mad that each room wasn't listed under the names of who would be staying in them.
I was paying for all of them and didn't know that was a requirement. I wanted my daughter, that would be arriving ahead of the rest of the group, to be able to check in. He started lecturing me about how I should've already listed her name. He demanded that she have an I.D. even though I was giving her information to him immediately.
Once we arrived, he wouldn't allow my husband to check us in because MY name was on the other two rooms. I was sick and vomiting and he couldn't find it in him to be one bit courteous. I WAS NOT recognized as an IHG Rewards Club Member.
He was disgusted that the keys didn't work and he had to rekey each one. He knew that with the first one, but didn't bother to fix the other two until we had gone upstairs and tried to use them. He blamed the keys were made early in the morning. I don't see how that was my fault!
Tony set the tone for the stay. I paid for three rooms for two nights. I even spoke unkindly (and apologized) to the other desk clerk the morning we checked out. He was very kind.
Customer Service is not in Tony's vocabulary!

Being about the only decent hotel in Lansing, I do stay there several times a year. Some trips are better than others. This trip I also stayed at 2 other HI facilities and they were much more updated, whereas this facility looks the same as it did years ago..
It is ok, it is clean, TV remote was not working 100% but I got by..

Really like the choice we have for pillows in the room and the beds were very comfortable.

The staff is helpful and pleasant. The rooms are quiet and comfortable. I stay here each time I teach at Fort Leavenworth and have never been disappointed.

At times the staff in this hotel were poorly turned out, and appeared, variously: indifferent, surly, or lacking empathy with customers. I get that this operates in the limited-service market segment, and accept that there will be limited service, for a supposedly low price, however I would expect that the service would be limited in scope, not quality. A basic uniform and some customer service training would sort this out.
