Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Average choice for the area Layton, UT has hotels from almost any chain. While the stay here wasn't bad, the hotel is showing its age in the rooms and the amenities are sub-par. That being said, the staff was very friendly and helpful in virtually any way. The price is also average for the area. Therefore, I simply rate this choice as average. You could definitely do worse, but there is plenty of room for improvement too. March 22, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The personnel Two employees (your writing guidelines don't allow for me to name them) were very helpful to me/us and tried to ensure I/we had what was needed. They talked with us and made us feel very comfortable; I was offered suggestions and even given some coupons when I happened to mention we were planning on dinning at a specific place. Nice people. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Below average experience, very poor service for Platinum members On arrival at the hotel, the sole receptionist was sitting eating pizza at the desk, with the desk itself covered with food plates and soda cans. Our greeting to the hotel was spoken with a mouthful of food. An extremely rude and unsatisfying initial experience. When we did check-in, there was no recognition of my loyalty or status at all, not even a "thank you". The room itself was fine and we got a good nights' sleep but the breakfast service was very poor - rubbery, luke-warm hot choices and fruit that had seen better days. Wifi was virtually unusable in our room due to poor signal. Overall this property did not reflect the standard I had come to expect from Holiday Inn Express hotels and I would strongly recommend some significant improvement in staff approach. March 6, 2015
