Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by ho hum ...... not the best but not the worst room was ok, thankfully it was a smoking room as we requested. food service was dire, told there were 2 soups on offer so ordered one each to find there was only one which we were not told till it eventually arrived. the service on food was exteremly slow and not worth the money we paid. we didn't bother with breakfast it looked dire December 15, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Fair hotel, good location, badly run On arrival I had to knock on the front door as it was locked, this was before 5pm on a Thursday evening. Explained on arrival that I been waiting for over two months for my IHG reward card which the gentleman at the desk said he would investigate, I have yet to receive the results of his investigation 5 days later (he must be thorough). And then there was breakfast or should I say lack of it, I had to ask if breakfast had finished as there was nothing left except a few beans and was told some more food was be brought out. A few sausages later that was it. Fair hotel, good location, badly run December 9, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by No frills value Rooms airy clean and functional with modern bathroom and toiletries. Street noise heard from 2nd floor from returning revellers at 3am but ear plugs were the answer. Going down at 9.30am for breakfast was very disappointing, with none of the tables clear of dirty plates and trays, it was up to us to clear and put to one side. Fresh fruit yogurts and pastries were perfect but the hot options had ran out along with sliced bread for the toaster. After asking a member of staff if there was anything on its way we had a 10 min wait for scrambled eggs beans and sausages. I think a couple of staff members clearing tables and monitoring the buffet would give holiday inn Express a faultless review. December 3, 2014

Menu straightforward but appetising, could do with a little more flair but may not be core business for them. December 3, 2014
