Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very good service This was a business trip and the location of the hotel was excellent July 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed and friendly staff Close to city centre so made it a great location.. Friendly staff. Room was very clean and comfortable. We would stay again next time we're visiting Leeds. June 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A lot quieter than one last visit. Had a great stay this time. The hotel and the staff have always been great and I understand that some guests don't know the meaning of the word quiet. This time we had a pre allocated room which was very quiet which made our stay even more enjoyable and relaxing. The staff have always been friendly and polite and we are already planning our next stay. Thanks to the staff for a great weekend. June 30, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NIGHTMARE 1. Car parking, i.e. none. Had to pay NCP prices, which was not made obvious. 2. Room was below average: a. Vanity mirror, fail. b. Paint flaking from ceilings, room and bathroom. c. No fan in bathroom. 3. Breakfast: a. Had to wait for cutlery, plates and food. b. Buffet was chaos, could not cope with numbers. c. Staff becoming stressed. 4. Considering all of the above, prices were very high, albiet we did have a discount. June 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 528 I love the hotel and the staff is excellent and indeed very customer centrc. I am coming again tomorrow however as the cost is high I am staying in Leeds City centre June 19, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Value Night Stop Several of us stayed overnight before competing at athletics in Leeds. The rooms were clean and modern, the lounge was good, breakfast was self-service and plentiful and the staff were very helpful. Excellent value for money booking twin rooms well in advance - and a bonus for runners the canal just outside means you can run for miles without crossing roads! June 15, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overnight Stay Very good location 10 to 15 min walk to main shopping centre lots of bars on the way would recommend you visit June 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by All Staff Very Polite and friendly I chose hotel as I was visiting the Royal Armouries. Being disabled the location of the hotel was ideal that is why I chose the Holiday Inn. However when I arrived the hotel was more than what I had expected. The staff were a credit to you and I was made most welcome. Assistance was readily available if I needed it and taxi booked for the journey back to railway station. My room was clean, neat and tidy and was suitable for the time that I spent in it. I will certainly be returning to Leeds and will be planning a longer stay. I will have NO HESITATION in staying with you again. Thank You. June 14, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by room very clean and comfortable the only down point was the tv in the room,,some programs could not be seen properly , would benefit from flat plasma screens fitted to the wall above the utility bench..otherwise everything fine, would stay again as its very central to Leeds town centre.. June 14, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday inn express Standard fare with this hotel, very nice setting with the canal network within this complex, short walk to Leeds city centre about 10 mins walk, not a lot going on within the complex but a quite stay sp no problems June 14, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Leeds stay This hotel was recommneded to us and it did not let us down. It was comfortable, clean and, for us, in a very good position, a short walk from Town and a couple of hundred yards away from our son's appt. The staff were extremely helpful and we would not hesitate to recommend anyone coming to Leeds to stay here. June 8, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Leeds Stay I regularly use this hotel, but unlikely to continue. The area is becoming unfriendly, restaurants locally have shut. Left with a pizza express and an Indian who does not sell alcohol. I tried the meal in the hotel restaurant this time, no chips and a chicken that had been overcooked. Male member of staff waiting on me seemed to blame me that the bar staff had not given me a number. He refused to take my desert order saying could only be able to be done at bar. I could not be bothered and skipped desert (Not exactly service). The rooms are in urgent need of a redecoration and television stations very limited. May 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service and Clean rooms I found the staff to be most helpful and friendly. The rooms were very clean and tidy. May 25, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by clean & tidy, comfy bed friendly staff We enjoyed our stay here very much, the room was very clean & tidy. The beds were comfy and the linen freshly laundered. Hotel was clean everywhere and excellent breakfast to set us up for the day. The staff were helpful and friendly. Recommend this holiday inn. May 23, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel stay All good. Room in great shape, staff very helpful and location just right. May 21, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Ok today but staffing poor When I checked in they had the wrong room allocated when I asked for a double as I always have andy looked derogatory towards my male friend who was not even staying with me. So disappointed and ages waiting to check in while he served in the bar on his own at 2 pm. Very unusually poor for this hotel. May 16, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent for central position in Leeds We returned for a second stay three years after our last to bring three (13 year old) girls to a weekend competition. Still excellent value (Late Rooms booking) and great service from the staff who seem to be up late at night and still there serving breakfast with a smile on their face the next morning! Rang before to request rooms with internal doors which we had before and were changed to those with no problem. Girls really like having these! Great setting for a city hotel, close to motorway so no getting lost (due to Armouries signage), no major roads next to hotel and plenty of room to sit or run around outside. Also canal and surroundings well kept up and interesting. Make sure you have a free visit to The Armouries museum a few strides across the plaza from the hotel. Didn't go last time but were really impressed when we popped in this weekend. Great that at 8.30 at night we were able to walk along canal 10 minutes off road and straight into Leeds town centre to find food. Also very useful Pizza Express next door to hotel and Tesco express down the road! Breakfast plentiful and pleasant - busy at times but no one hurried. Rooms comfortable. If you can book at a good price early on then well recommended. May 12, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 Small room and disappointing breakfast Small room, despite classification as a family room - sofa bed not made up on arrival for my daughter and poor/ limited choice of buffet available compared to similar offering from competitors and other Holiday Inn resorts. Noisy neighbours on a Friday night especially from corridors. Staff attentive and helpful. May 9, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient location for the Buy Yorkshire conference Excellent facilities 30 yards away from the Armouries exhibition and conference halls. An excellent room that has everything we need for an overnight stay. April 30, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel, Tired Room A good time at the hotel but room was tired but clean, peeling paint on ceiling, old style TV. April 28, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable and pleasant staff This was our first stay at this Holiday Inn Express. The welcome was warm and helpful. Indeed all of the staff were great. The beds were very comfortable - the only problem with the room was that there was only one chair (this seems to be true for all of the HI Express). The location is ideal for the Royal Armouries but apart from this the whole area seems sterile. As far as we could see there are only two places to eat, one a Pizza Express and the other an alcohol-free Indian restaurant. However, we will stay there again but will try to find out about other restaurants in the city. April 27, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Average Everything about this hotel is average. I mean don't get me wrong, it's a nice hotel, a nice location and you get all the basics, but that's it, just the basics. I stayed in a double room with a friend so we got two cups, two tea bags and two cartons of milk, obviously they don't realise some people drink more than one cup of tea a day! Everything in the room was the bare minimum for two people and if you wanted more you had to venture down to reception and face the inquisition from the staff who demanded to know why you wanted more milk. I also must have missed the memo about hotels no longer providing complimentary biscuits and little bottles of shampoo. The first nights sleep was lovely, so lovely in fact that we slept through breakfast so the next day we were determined to make it down in time! There was no queue which we were pleased about but a distinct lack of choice, we were one of the first people down so we saw the full range of options. It's advertised as a "hot breakfast" which is fair enough, there were hot items, but that only consisted of beans, sausage and toast. The second nights sleep wasn't as peaceful as the first, the room next to us played music from the moment they got in until we got up for breakfast, while screaming and stomping up and down the hallway, I realise this isn't the hotels fault but surely someone must have complained. One day then room service came to clean while we were out, we got back and realised we didn't have any towels and had to wait for someone to bring us some. But even with the milk hunt, the noise, the lack of breakfast choices, the shower that flooded the bathroom, the loose tile in the bathroom and the lack of towels then the entire stay was made worthwhile by the lovely woman on reception when we checked out, she was so cheery and happy that I couldn't stay annoyed anymore. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by In need of maintenance I've stayed here before and it's starting to look a little tired. Peeling paint on the ceiling, a toilet that didn't flush properly, and broken lightbulb in the bathroom were just some of the problems. It can also get a bit noisy at the weekend. Overpriced for what it is. April 26, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beds If you are going to visit the armouries then this is the hotel for you. The hotel is situated just opposite from the attraction. Something for everyone in the breakfast buffet. The sofa bed in our room was the worst we have ever encountered. You could feel the metal where it folded out. We reported it to reception who said they would look into it. We didn't hear anything back so we cannot say if they did or if they did not. All we can say is it felt no better on the second night and thankfully we were only booked in for two nights! April 20, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Tired The location of the hotel is good and within easy reach of the centre of Leeds. The staff were friendly and helpful. The biggest issue is the room that I was in, the window catch was broken and couldn't shut the window to keep out noise, the walls were damaged with missing paint, the ceiling in the bedroom and the bathroom had significant areas of flaking paint. I was only there for only one night. I use Holiday Inns all the time and this was the tiredest one I have stayed in. April 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn, Leeds Armouries This is the third time I have stayed here. It is a short walk from the bus station, which has a direct bus link with the train station, and the shops are not that far away. It is situated well away from traffic so a peaceful premise at night. Close by is the Armouries (free entry) and not to be missed, lagan walks (with fishing) and a nearby excellent cask ale pub and several other venues. It may seem to be out of the way but it is in fact well situated. A typical modern high rise hotel, it has good accommodation with an attentive and helpful staff. Breakfast is (mainly) serve your self and comprises of a good choice of starters; cereals, fresh fruits and juices, along with toasters, hot drinks and a selection of heated food (scrambled eggs, beans and sausages). Unlike some hotels with continental breakfasts the food is hot and plentiful, just keep helping yourself. A nice touch is the selection of Twinings teas. It has its own bar, but most guests will be out sampling Leeds and the dales. Still, nice enough for a night-cap. You can never please all the people, but this hotel has pleased me three times now and I can guarantee you I will be back again. April 14, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Don't take your kids Very much a young adults hotel with noise and disruption until 4ish in the morning. Tried speaking to the staff and nearly called the police. Made a mistake booking this which won't be repeated. April 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent staff and good location Having stayed at a large number of this type of hotel (you know the ones i mean), i can thoroughly recommned this one. The location next to the Armouries made an ideal base for our holiday stay. Also it was a pleasant walk along the canal into the city centre. The room was as you'd expect, clean, warm and comfortable. The breakfast bar was adequate, the self service area was a bit small but hey the food was hot and there was lots of it. The outstanding feature of this hotel though was the staff. They were all extremely helpful and polite, over and above what you would expect. Michelle in particular was really pleasant and even address the youngest child (aged 2) who so pleased to be talked to. This little thing just makes a family outing extra special. Thanks to all the staf we had a fantasic stay. Lots of other standard and good feature but i have just highlighted the exceptional points. April 1, 2013
