I had a room with a double bed and it was fantastic. However, the one thing is I wish the staff would have told me how to keep/turn on the lights. It requires the Ving Card (I figured it out later at night) however that should definitely be something mentioned at check inn time. Other than that the staff was great at answering all my questions about the town/buses/taxis and the breakfast was wonderful!

I couldn't ask for more, staff were professional, approachable, cheerful and ready to assist. I needed a Holiday Break with the twins, one disabled, hence I was wary about the car park distance at first but I followed staff instructions and am glad I did. We not only had a very good rest, we visited the Royal Amouries, a fantastic attraction for kids and all. I can't wait to be back, I did mention to a member of staff how great their service was. Thank you.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by IrishAnn Excellent customer care
We were greeted by very friendly staff and nothing was too much for them. I have never experienced such good customer care and was really quite touched by their kindness and willingness to be of help. We had our wee dog with us and all the staff made a fuss of him..he loved it!! If in Leeds again I will always stay at the Armouries and will recommend it to any friends... It is the only place I have stayed where staff give well over 100% care and attention. Many, many thanks.

Settee missing when we first entered the room was quickly dealt with by allocating us another nearby room.

Windows in room did not close properly so v noisy in early hours of morning as people left / arrived. Air conditioning did not switch off properly, even although switch was in off position - had constant noise of A/C switching on and off during the night. Overall a pretty bad experience.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by John541 Poor room with lots of noise on 5th Floor
I booked non-smoking but it was apparent there had been a heavy smoker using the room quite recently. Unfortunately the off button was not working on the air conditioning so I had to get used to it coming on during the night. I was staying on a Saturday night and about 1.30am pandemonium broke out outside the hotel as people started leaving parties in the vicinity and hailing taxis. This died down about 3am to be followed by noisy party revellers taking the lift to my floor and having difficulty opening the doors to their rooms. Things quietened down about 4am.
The bed was comfortable. There was a sign on each lift confirming the hotel knew there were reception problems with the TV signal.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Rich82 Great hotel. Not great Entertainment system
The hotel is fine and relaxing and the staff are very helpful. However, the Entertainment system providing TV, films and Internet access is terribly out of date and prone to not working. I was moved to 3 rooms to try and find a system that would work. The staff were very helpful and thoughtful, fortunately.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Chunshine Not one of the better ones!
On arrival I had to wait for the lady to finish serving 3 people at the bar with their orders before she finally came to the reception desk! Hardly priority check in!
The room was not that clean, the front strip counter where the television stands was hanging off and would cause a nasty pinch if you were leaning on the top.
The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have slept in for years. The "roll together" was the worst it could be, which is what comes from buying cheap mattresses.
We got up and had breakfast early as we had a long journey ahead, so we were down for breakfast within 30 minutes of it being served.
The beans looked as though they had been out for 24 hours not 30 minutes! There were solid baked lumps mixed in the sticky thick gooey mess that was meant to be the sauce. The scrambled eggs tasted like they had been prepared in a bowl with soapy dishwater.
There had been no coffee prepared in the coffee peculator and we had to make it ourselves from instant sachets.
Neither of the toasters appeared to be working so making toast wasn't possible.
Overall this was the worst experience I have ever had of staying at a Holiday Inn Express hotel in the UK. I certainly would not recommend this hotel and am unlikely to ever return.

My husband and I stayed here in November for 5 nights and I enjoyed every minute of it. The Holiday Inn has the best beds and pillows I always sleep well and everything is spotless. There is a bit of a walk into the town when you don`t know where your going (we got lost) but once we worked it out it was fine. We had a great time in Leeds and would recomend staying here especialy if you get adeal like we did.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Chris1811 Beware of deposits
Stayed for two nights and generally had a good stay. Staff were friendly, rooms comfortable and breakfast hot and plentiful. However although the stay was paid for in full on arrival unbeknown to me the hotel had taken a deposit equal to the cost of a nights stay. This had been secured on my debit card which although it still showed the money in the account it was not available to withdraw. This was not advised me on arrival and was not taken off the cost of the bill. It actually took a week for the money to be released back to my account so they had access to this money for that time. I was told it was hotel policy to have a deposit for breakages etc which I could understand but to not release the money until a week after arrival is not good policy.
So although its worth staying here just be aware of this policy.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by NP38 Excellent location, great staff
This is a great value for money hotel. It's clean, comfortable and within walking distance to the centre. There were of 5 of us who stayed for a night out in Leeds and we walked into the nightlife comfortably. In a great location on the river and enjoys a quiet spot. Staff were helpful and attentive and breakfast was great. Would definately stay again and recommend you try it too!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by ChrisS Poor food and a long way from the Centre
We were disappointed with the distance from the rail station. It cost £8 for a taxi despite the map saying it was only 0.6 of a mile from the centre. It certainly seemed much further than that when walking back in the morning.
The food could only be described as terrible, £15 for a Bird's Eye (or cheaper) fish in batter and chips - burnt on the outside and not cooked inside, someone needs to teach the chef about the temperature of the oil!
Overall, disappointed as I had booked the weekend as a birthday present for my friend. We certainly wouldn't come again.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Paultco Always a freindly welcome!
As a regular customer, staying twice a week, I can say that the staff are friendly and helpful. Being a priority club member, check in takes less than a minute.
The hotel is always clean, tidy and offers comfort when away from home.
The complimentary breakfast is a real bonus offering a wide variety of choice and 3 hot items (sausage, scarmbled egg and beans). I usually order an evening meal and have now sampled every dish on the menu without complaint.
Working away from home can always be a drag but The Holiday Inn Express at Clarence Dock makes the experience enjoyable and comfortable. ten out of ten for me!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tishy Would go back.
This is a really nice hotel. Lovely and clean. We did had one problem. The toilet seat was broken, which couldnt be helped, what did annoy me was when i reported it for the second time, the first time the man did nothing about it. The second time the girl did get maintenance, which could not fix it and I found out it was reported in the morning before we got there, and we still was given that room. The only way we could use it was to keep the seat up, because it was quite dangerous.

The hotel was lovely plenty of customers and flexiblility with Sunday breakfast when you get up later and good atmosphere. It would be nice to see a few staff around breakfast to chat to and make it more personal experience.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Servalan Nice price - shame about the room ...
As far as value for money goes, this isn't a bad deal at all (I booked in advance and got a good rate), and the room, on the surface, looked good - however ...
Controlling the temperature in the room was impossible: it was either too hot, or too cold, and the temperature set on the aircon in the room never matched what it actually was. Consequently, I slept badly.
There was a sofabed contraption in the corner of the room that was covered with so many dubious looking stains and marks (possibly cigarette burns, although it was a no smoking room ...) that you really wouldn't want to sit on it, let alone sleep on it.
And the television was faulty: the top half of the screen was blue, so that anyone whose face was in that section became that colour. I was surprised also that there were so few channels available.
The staff on reception and at breakfast were helpful and polite - so it's a shame that my room was so poorly maintained.

I emailed ahead to ask about disabled parking, they informed me that it was £8 in the multistory next door. I pointed out the window from the reception desk at the three disable parking slots directly in front and asked how much to park there?
Found the staff not to be used to disabled access or questions.
I also found the room to give the basic but was very noisy at night due to teenagers using the road outside to congregate. was not sure of security of car. I found the breakfast to be a bit hit and miss and I did not loose the taste of the coffee for at least 3 hours.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Family2012 Excellent base for exploring Leeds
The hotel is in an excellent position, very easy to reach from the M1. there is a large multi storey car park right next door and the hotel has negotiated a good overnight rate if you use it. It is great if you wish to visit the Royal Armouries of course, but it is also just a pleasant 20 minute walk along the River Aire into the city. the staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms and facilities well up to the usual good Holiday Inn Express standard. There are several nice restaurants within a 5 minute walk.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Malcolm59 visit to Leeds
As always we were well looked after by the staff at the Holiday Inn Express - the room was clean and the bed comfortable and we were able to enjoy our visit to Leeds. We ate both nights in the restaurant and although the choice is limited the quality of the meals were outstanding.
We did have a problem with a bathroom which had an awful smell coming from the drains and shower curtain which we did let the staff know when we checked out- they thanks us for letting them know and assured they would get someone to look into it.
