Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very convenient for the Armories Just a bit out of the way for much else, the area is a little bit deserted at night, but a great hotel, offering the usual Holiday Inn Express amenities, and rather standard breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff, but the bar is a bit close to the check in, which was slightly confusing and spoilt the initial impression of the place. Overall a recommend. February 20, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor hotel experience Nice hotel and comfortable, staff pleasant but not enough of them it was chaos and booking hadn't been completed properly which meant that the extra bed we requested was not provided. Breakfast was utter chaos not enough staff to keep up with demand. It was ridiculous and I don't know how a chain of hotels with such a good reputation generally can let this continue it was the same last year and we are unlikely to be stupid enough to try it again even if it is very convenient. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location, clean and friendly hotel Had the choice of very early train journey to Leeds (always risky on a Monday) or a hotel stay on a Sunday night. Glad I decided to stay at the hotel. I arrived late evening, but was still greeted well by attentive staff. Room was clean and airy, and everything was as expected. Breakfast was busy, but plenty of tables and good choice of food, including hot breakfast. February 19, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very busy. Staff overwhelmed at times There was a major event at a nearby venue and the hotel was fully booked. There were insufficient staff on duty at breakfast and staff couldn't cope. No problems at other times and staff remained courteous and helpful throughout. We've used this hotel several times and this was the only time we have experienced any problem. February 19, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Changes have to be made Booked 3 non-refundable nights, fled after 1st. night due to worn out beds and renovation noise. But if I you want to stay during the week, its supposed to be ok, they only do renovation on sundays according to the person at check out. February 10, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Second stay This was my second stay at the HI Express and the reason I came back was because the staff were friendly and helpful more importantly laughed at my jokes which were both at mine and their expense! Room was clean and comfortable, although a proper chair to sit in rather than a desk chair would have been better when watching the TV. I will definitely go back if I am in Leeds on business again. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by dog friendly hotel since we recently got a puppy we thought it would be difficult to find places to stay we were visiting our daughter who goes to university in Leeds, i was very happy to find that the holiday inn allowed dogs into their hotels. on arrival it felt vey relaxing and the staff were very friendly towards our little yorkie. he behaved himself all night and even had a little breakfast. many thanks.
