Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by comfortable beds We often use this hotel as it is convenient for visiting our son who lives nearby. The lady receptionist on checking in was unfamiliar with certain things like redeeming points for club members, however the male attendant on checking out could not be faulted. The beds are comfortable, which is very important ,and the rooms are spacious and set to a design used by this hotel group throughout. However, on this occasion some lamps needed replacing, the toilet was hard to flush and there was a brown stain on the carpet. Breakfast was a bit of a disaster. There was only one man on duty who could not cope with the amount of people. All of the tables neede clearing and both milk machines were out of order. When I tried to get cereal I was told that milk would arrive in 10mins. 2 jugs eventually arrived. There was no bread other than crusts. Some other staff came to clear tables in dilliatory manner and then wandered off after a time with the job only 1/3rd done. However, we intend to stay again and hope that these problems were a one off. August 26, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good for what we needed We wanted to go to the Armouries and we needed to park nearby for the hotel stay and the armouries visit. HI Express was well located and had an arrangement with the nearby car park allowing us to leave the car both overnight and during the morning at a reasonable charge. We had some difficulty with the booking, caused by the IHG booking system as the system did not allow for two different types of rooms, but a phone call with the administrator (not the reception staff) resolved this matter. We also found that we were charged twice for our stay, a call to reception the following day resolved that. The hotel was very bust but the breakfast staff just about kept ahead of the needs which was a challenge for them, but they did it. August 25, 2013

The hotel was superb in its situation and facilities, however the customer service left me sorely out of pocket and they made a huge mistake which they claim "happens". Not only did they overcharge by a room they also would not let guests pay when they left, leaving me footing the whole bill and having to ring around to find out who stayed in which rooms. They didn't even take down the guests details from each room so had no log themselves. I am still FURIOUS. August 22, 2013

They were so friendly and welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Although the menu was limited the food was lovely. The hotel was chocca so not much choice for breakfast but wouldn't let this put u off. Will be staying again. Keep up the good work :-) August 19, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bed/Mattress awful and rude staff members My wife and I stayed at this hotel on the 12th August as part of our anniversary trip away. The first room we were given was on the 5th floor and was immediately changed due to the state of the mattress / metal springs that l you could feel as you sat down. Our replacement room ( 3rd floor) at the time we thought was okay apart from the hole in the wall and a major safety issue of the window locking system was broken ( very dangerous if you had young children ) Photos were taken. In the morning after a restless night again due to the mattress my wife and i had ended up in the middle of the mattress/bed as the mattress had caved in during the night as there was no support in the middle . Once we managed to get out the bed we both sat on either side of the bed and could feel ourselves sliding in to the middle again. Certain members of staff were extremely rude and unhelpful , one example being that we had asked a member of reception for directions in which we got stared at by her and handed a map with 2 circles on after a silence as we were expecting her to( help or perhaps say something ) we left feeling as though we had upset her in some way. Another example on checkout we handed our card key in and was met with a different member of staff who said 3 words to us " nothing to pay " and then ignored us not even a goodbye or hope you enjoyed your stay. The staff members we met were rude, didnt care, abrupt it was as though we were in the way of them and that they could not be bothered with us. Apart from the staff ruining one of our nights away for our anniversary my wife since returning has been suffering from a bad back due to the mattress. Our night in the Holiday Inn Express was the worst experience of a Hotel we have come across. Never Again !! August 18, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by freindly and helpful staff stayed here when attending the home international snooker competition at the northern snooker club leeds. We were treated very well by the staff on reception who were extremely helpful and freindly when we checked in. The rooms were clean and comfortable as were the puplic spaces, breakfast was very adequate. The armouries musem (just outside the front door) was very lmpressive and a nice bonus. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Stay in room 419 Hi The stay this time wsd nt ss great as I had last time because of the following reasons 1.The staff who welcomed me knew lil abt the hotel whereas I knew more...I asked her tht is the promotional offer on TV internet and movies are still applicable.the answer was more beating the round the bush 2.I was given a temporary password which kicks me out every half n hour though I mentioned I will be buying the Internet packages 3.I incorrectly drank apple juice out of breakfast hours as I was nt aware and I wad being correct ed rudely in front of another customer 4.Lily is a asset to your compwny. She apologise d and gave the correct Internet password.She wss customer centric in the last stay as well 5.inspite of paying with credit card there was block of 298 gbp whichccaused endless confusion.This was correct ed by the manager on calling her August 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great customer service Double smoking room not available when I booked. Booked a non smoking but sent an e-mail requesting a move to a oking room if one became available. Arrived at hotel just after lunch intending just to leave bag and head out for the day. Room was ready so was able to check in. Smoking room had become and it had been allocated to me. Reception staff were really welcoming, room and surroundings were lovely. Would recommend and will visit again in the autumn/winter. Corina August 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Customer service from reception I booked for ten people which can be stressful so after a long travel it was great to be greeted by friendly faces. I found the staff to be very accommodating and helpful. They were a credit to the hotel chain. The room was clean and had everything you could need at a Great value price. We had jousting outside our window which was a nice treat to watch. The hotel location is fabulous just a 15 minute walk from the town centre ideal for hen and stag parties. Air conditioning was much needed. Nice a quiet hotel.The ice machine in reception is a nice touch and the breakfasts were great considering they are free. I would recommend this hotel to others and would definitely visit again. Thanks! August 2, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Worth the money A clean and comfortable value for money hotel within easy reach of Leeds city centre in a pleasant attractive location. The rooms were very comfortable with all you require. The staff were very attentive and helpful with nothing to much trouble for them. Having car parking available at a reasonable cost was an additional advantage. The only slight downside was the noise of people closing doors at approximately 4am (softer closing doors maybe) July 28, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by breakfast Our stay was acceptable, apart from breakfast. A large school group was staying at the hotel and left at 08.00. We arrived for breakfast at 07.45 to find that the hotel had run out of croissants, orange juice and there was no fresh coffee available. This was unacceptable at such an early time. Although the staff did try to be as helpful as possible, we were not able to have the breakfast that we were promised on the hotel information. The staff were very helpful with regard to noise from the group during the evening. A very disappointing experience for us and we definitely would not recommend this hotel to our friends/family. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Well located This Hotel is well located close to the city centre and next to the Armouries . Plenty of cheap parking and places to eat as well as nice walk by the canal to the city. However no wireless internet access in the rooms (cable only no good for tablets). Free wireless for Platinum in the bar but this is very (and I mean very) slow, for a business user this was frustrating. The rooms are small and pretty standard for an Express however the couch in my room was so disgustingly dirty looking with cigarette burns on it that I dared not sit on it. We had a fire alarm in the middle of the night which was well handled by the staff. July 22, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by First time visit- First impressions last The hotel is not the closest to our office in Leeds however I needed a hotel on short notice and this hotel was available. I'm glad it was the staff were great upon arrival. Very quik check-in. Hotel room was clean and bright. There was a large pool of Rugby players at the hotel and the staff apologised in advance if there were any issues, however the group were well behaved and the staff handled the situation excellently. What I enjoyed the most was how they went the extra step to make my stay a pleasant one. I did not get to try out the food, but the staff not only heated up the meal I brought with me (I feared I would arrive too late for a meal) but cleaned my tub and put my meal on a plate, cutlery, salt, everything which was excellent. They were not too familiar with directions to my ffice but that was not an issue for me. Overall, very good. July 20, 2013

Comfortable room - only issue was sofa bed in one of our rooms did not work properly and we were using it as a twin room. Was offered a room change but decided to stay where we were. Breakfast good and plenty of choice and well stocked. July 6, 2013

The hotel and the staff have always been great and I understand that some guests don't know the meaning of the word quiet. This time we had a pre allocated room which was very quiet which made our stay even more enjoyable and relaxing. The staff have always been friendly and polite and we are already planning our next stay. Thanks to the staff for a great weekend. June 30, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NIGHTMARE 1. Car parking, i.e. none. Had to pay NCP prices, which was not made obvious. 2. Room was below average: a. Vanity mirror, fail. b. Paint flaking from ceilings, room and bathroom. c. No fan in bathroom. 3. Breakfast: a. Had to wait for cutlery, plates and food. b. Buffet was chaos, could not cope with numbers. c. Staff becoming stressed. 4. Considering all of the above, prices were very high, albiet we did have a discount. June 27, 2013

The rooms were clean and modern, the lounge was good, breakfast was self-service and plentiful and the staff were very helpful. Excellent value for money booking twin rooms well in advance - and a bonus for runners the canal just outside means you can run for miles without crossing roads! June 15, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by All Staff Very Polite and friendly I chose hotel as I was visiting the Royal Armouries. Being disabled the location of the hotel was ideal that is why I chose the Holiday Inn. However when I arrived the hotel was more than what I had expected. The staff were a credit to you and I was made most welcome. Assistance was readily available if I needed it and taxi booked for the journey back to railway station. My room was clean, neat and tidy and was suitable for the time that I spent in it. I will certainly be returning to Leeds and will be planning a longer stay. I will have NO HESITATION in staying with you again. Thank You. June 14, 2013

It was comfortable, clean and, for us, in a very good position, a short walk from Town and a couple of hundred yards away from our son's appt. The staff were extremely helpful and we would not hesitate to recommend anyone coming to Leeds to stay here. June 8, 2013
