Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Re Vamp This hotel is looking tired with paint peeling off the bedroom ceilings and mould around the shower trays in the bathroom. Breakfast is ok but both times we have visited the eggs have tasted fishy so not sure where they are supplied from but it certainly needs looking into. March 22, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by OK overall This is in a good location for Leeds Armoury, which is the only reason I'd use this hotel again. The staff try their best, but the room we were in was shoddy, with pealing paint. The breakfasts really are the worst I've had in a hotel of any price range - the selection was poor and the quality of the ingredients very low. Even the toasters don't toast. The bar prices are far to high and the staff were not able to cope with the number of customers, despite the event we were at being regular and so could have been planned for. March 16, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Noisy air con and smelly drains Although the room was nice and clean there was a terrible smell coming up from the drains in the bathroom. The only way to reduce it was to block the drain holes up with a towel. The air conditioning unit also made a noise all day and night which sounded like someone typing on a keyboard. Hotel were aware of it and fellow guests at the hotel were also suffering from the same issues. March 16, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by My most sleepless weekend Took my daughter (40 Birthday) and family (2 grandchildren) for a weekend break to visit Royal Armouries. Arrived Friday evening to find a stag party in full costumes getting tanked up in the bar, and wondered if we had booked the wrong place. Friday night was not too bad as there were only a few stag and hen parties in residence. We came back from an evening meal Sat night to find the lower floor full of drinking stags and hens. It was impossible for either us or the grandchildren to sleep before 11pm due to the shouting/screaming of the hen party in the rooms across the corridor, banging of doors and many male visitors coming and going. As we had been given 2 rooms immediately above the drop of point for taxi's. At 2am the whole thing started again with shouting door, banging and people in room above us. People were returning until about 4-30am. By being far more sensible in the room allocation for normal visitors. The antics of the drunks and mixed sex parties would have had much less influence on our stay. I will never again stay at a Holiday Inn Express. March 14, 2013

Although reasonably clean, we find the peeling and chipped paintwork in our room a bit offputting and the black mould in the shower was not what we would expect to find in a well known hotel chain. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by value for money weekend stay nice newish hotel in a good central location. staff very helpful at all times. family room a little cramped and the pull out bed uncomfy for a 14 year old, but will return, shower good and general room amenities all provided. breakfast good if you attend at the right time otherwise can get a little cramped and stressful. no facilities but didn't expect any. decent place to stay and enjoy leeds city. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good service The only complaint we had was that the breakfast area was far to small, it was really busy and there was not enough tables to eat at, some tables were not cleared away. The (HOT) food was not very warm and it tasted like it had been in the serving dishes for some time. Definitely the breakfast area could be more organised!!! Apart from this we enjoyed our stay, and we would not let it put us off by returning again. February 15, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poorly maintained Sadly this is a pretty good hotel in a good location that suffers from poor maintenance. After two rooms (the first had broken heating) the second had no tv remote and broken bathroom taps - it all gets a bit weary. The reception area is in a poor state and tv in breakfast area was missing with just bare wires on the wall I am a Platinum Hiex member so get to see plenty of the group hotels February 5, 2013

The area is a good place to stay. Pity the car parking is so expensive. We will stay there again February 2, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable Room I had a room with a double bed and it was fantastic. However, the one thing is I wish the staff would have told me how to keep/turn on the lights. It requires the Ving Card (I figured it out later at night) however that should definitely be something mentioned at check inn time. Other than that the staff was great at answering all my questions about the town/buses/taxis and the breakfast was wonderful! January 18, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Truly a Holiday Inn I couldn't ask for more, staff were professional, approachable, cheerful and ready to assist. I needed a Holiday Break with the twins, one disabled, hence I was wary about the car park distance at first but I followed staff instructions and am glad I did. We not only had a very good rest, we visited the Royal Amouries, a fantastic attraction for kids and all. I can't wait to be back, I did mention to a member of staff how great their service was. I have never experienced such good customer care and was really quite touched by their kindness and willingness to be of help. We had our wee dog with us and all the staff made a fuss of him..he loved it!! If in Leeds again I will always stay at the Armouries and will recommend it to any friends... It is the only place I have stayed where staff give well over 100% care and attention. Many, many thanks. December 28, 2012

Air conditioning did not switch off properly, even although switch was in off position - had constant noise of A/C switching on and off during the night. Overall a pretty bad experience. Lights out in the bar area summed up the general poor maintence . Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor room with lots of noise on 5th Floor I booked non-smoking but it was apparent there had been a heavy smoker using the room quite recently. Unfortunately the off button was not working on the air conditioning so I had to get used to it coming on during the night. I was staying on a Saturday night and about 1.30am pandemonium broke out outside the hotel as people started leaving parties in the vicinity and hailing taxis. This died down about 3am to be followed by noisy party revellers taking the lift to my floor and having difficulty opening the doors to their rooms. Things quietened down about 4am. The bed was comfortable. There was a sign on each lift confirming the hotel knew there were reception problems with the TV signal. December 15, 2012

However, the Entertainment system providing TV, films and Internet access is terribly out of date and prone to not working. I was moved to 3 rooms to try and find a system that would work. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not one of the better ones! On arrival I had to wait for the lady to finish serving 3 people at the bar with their orders before she finally came to the reception desk! Hardly priority check in! The room was not that clean, the front strip counter where the television stands was hanging off and would cause a nasty pinch if you were leaning on the top. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have slept in for years. The "roll together" was the worst it could be, which is what comes from buying cheap mattresses. We got up and had breakfast early as we had a long journey ahead, so we were down for breakfast within 30 minutes of it being served. The beans looked as though they had been out for 24 hours not 30 minutes! There were solid baked lumps mixed in the sticky thick gooey mess that was meant to be the sauce. The scrambled eggs tasted like they had been prepared in a bowl with soapy dishwater. There had been no coffee prepared in the coffee peculator and we had to make it ourselves from instant sachets. Neither of the toasters appeared to be working so making toast wasn't possible. Overall this was the worst experience I have ever had of staying at a Holiday Inn Express hotel in the UK. I certainly would not recommend this hotel and am unlikely to ever return. December 9, 2012

The Holiday Inn has the best beds and pillows I always sleep well and everything is spotless.There is a bit of a walk into the town when you don`t know where your going (we got lost) but once we worked it out it was fine. We had a great time in Leeds and would recomend staying here especialy if you get adeal like we did. December 7, 2012

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beware of deposits Stayed for two nights and generally had a good stay. Staff were friendly, rooms comfortable and breakfast hot and plentiful. However although the stay was paid for in full on arrival unbeknown to me the hotel had taken a deposit equal to the cost of a nights stay. This had been secured on my debit card which although it still showed the money in the account it was not available to withdraw. This was not advised me on arrival and was not taken off the cost of the bill. It actually took a week for the money to be released back to my account so they had access to this money for that time. I was told it was hotel policy to have a deposit for breakages etc which I could understand but to not release the money until a week after arrival is not good policy. So although its worth staying here just be aware of this policy. December 2, 2012
