My wife booked a room at this hotel as it appeared great value for money. It would have been it we were put in one of the rooms which had been recently renovated. Sadly the room we were put in was not. It was tired and the mattress was so old it may have been used by queen Victoria. If it wasn't for the room the rest of the hotel was fine and the breakfast was good. At the time of our visit the hotel seemed pretty empty, so come on Holiday Inn Express, it would have been so easy to put us in one of the recently renovated rooms. And all of this could have been avoided.
Overall - Disappointed !

a recent revamp to the hotel and the bar/lounge have breathed life back into this hotel. Rooms also had a wave of the refurb wand and are clean, spacious and modern.
menu is basic, food quality good and staff attentive.
slight issue with other guests in communal areas late at night, I know the doors have to close automatically for fire regulations but in the early hours that thud of a door closing shatters a peaceful nights sleep..!
other than that, I didnt get any IHG point for my 2 night stay?
all good will use again.

Continuous poor standard of hotel, rooms are cold, heating is intermittent, lounge and bar area cold, food is shocking.
