My husband plays in a band where he played in Roanoke Friday night. Saturday, we drove from Roanoke to Natural Bridge where we drove through the Safari Zoo and saw a lot of exotic animals. His band was to play in Buena Vista Saturday night so we decided to stay in Lexington for the night. We checked in and the clerk behind the desk was very rude. I asked to use my points and she said I'd have to call the Priority Club Line to make them. I asked if I could use her phone and she said, "you're really demanding a lot", and I just looked at her. She had made the comment she only had 45 minutes before getting off and was really tired so I ignored her rude comment. I made the call and booked the room. She was checking us in and I asked if she could get us on the first floor and she said "you're really pushing your luck". I just looked at her and she said "yes, I can get you on the first floor". She must have realized how rude she was because she then started telling us about a few people that are staying there that are filming at VMI and she broke the ice. The evening clerks were very nice. The next morning, the same clerk that checked us in was there and I asked if I could get a receipt and she said since I used points, they do not give receipts. She did not say "Thanks for staying with us" or anything. We left. This is a very nice Hotel and I'm sure it was just this clerk that did not have front desk personality.

Was in Lexington for visit to VMI. I found that this hotel was dated. Needs overhaul of color schemes and carpeting. Room was average. Breakfast was average again, nothing to write home about. One slow elevator for entire left wing. Probably wouldn't stay at this HIE again.

Two items that I haven't had problems with before at other Holiday Inn Expresses;
1. The chairs were worn. Padding sunk in as if they had been used a lot and over a long period of time. Same with the beds. The room did not smell clean.
2. No pool or exercise room. I usually enjoy a swim and run when I stay at the Holiday Inns, but this hotel had neither. I had to use another hotel's pool. Very inconvenient.
I have stayed in several Holiday Inn Expresses, and this was my first poor experience. I usually feel I get a good experience and stay for the price I pay, but I was disappointed this time. I'll be sure to not stay at this particular one again.

Only chain I stay with is Holiday Inn/ Suites. VERY disappointed with this one. After driving hours with my wife and 3 month old little girl we stopped here to stay took a quick shower and went straight to bed for an early start. The next morning we noticed ANTS in everything. Had to throw away all of my new one's food and clean out all of our bags.
I brought this up at the front desk at check out and they were not the least bit surprised. Only saying " YA We see them time to time but mostly in the summer." Thats it, No sorry. VERY nonchalant.
Thinking about posting a video of the ants on utube with the Hotel address.

I stay at many hotels and this property and staff far exceed all other locations. Great room and very nice breakfast selections. The staff was very helpful and made us and are dog feel very welcome.
I plan on staying here again when I'm in the area.

This property does not hold up to other Holiday Inn properties we have stayed at, yet has high rates. The hotel is run down. The beds are not comfortable. However, it was clean. There are much better deals when staying in Lexington.

The staff at this Holiday Inn Express is very welcoming, accommodating, and competent. We've stayed here for about 4 years in a row when we visit our daughter and son-in-law over Thanksgiving. We've never had a bad experience.

After the front desk personnel this stay went downhill. Can't imagine why there is but one elevator for this four floor hotel. This problem was exacerbated by the fact (unknown when I booked) the hotel was filled to capacity with VMI Cadets, students, Alumni and friends. Couldn't get ANY place at breakfast.
This hotel was DEFINITELY NOT WORTH THE ridiculous amount I was charged to stay there. Was most happy to leave as quickly the next morning as possible.

This "pet friendly" location allows pets in all rooms. I'm used to requesting non-smoking rooms; non-pet was new to me, not that it would have helped here. I suggest they limit pet owners to the first floor and leave the others for the non-pet people. I felt like I had slept with a cat, clogging up more and more as the evening progressed. Luckily I had some antihistamines in my suitcase.

I really enjoyed my stay in Lexington. There was plenty to see and stores like Walmart and other conveniences were close and accessible. We were there for a division meeting while a storm came through. Most businesses lost power on our block, but the staying at the hotel, I felt safe and comfortable. My only complaint was the slow, forgetful service at the hotel bar. We did meet a really nice young lady and a young gentleman who was very helpful. Someone took our order, wings, and never came back. 45 minutes later we brought this to another staff's attention and our order was immediately brought out hot and tasty.

I've been staying here three-four times a year for the past four years. Debbie and Susan are wonderful at the front desk. Breakfast is fresh and tidy. Rooms are great. Plenty of parking and places to eat in this great historic town.
We have brought our dog on several occasions with no issues. As a VMI parent I strongly recommend this hotel to all VMI parents.
For those that stay there you'll understand ... we have fun taking photos of the "DUCK".

My only suggestion would be to provide a light blanket along with the duvet. Too cool with only a sheet, but too warm with the duvet.

Our stay was wonderful. The motel was very clean, comfortable and had a great breakfast. Would recommend to stay here.
