Stayed one Saturday night with my wife and son. We had a room on the fifth (top) floor which was great as the risk of noise was greatly reduced. Rooms are small, especially when you have the sofa bed down, but clean and comfortable with a decent bathroom. Although the hotel was full, staff on reception were great and couldn't do enough to help. Consistent with all other HIX, it delivered exactly what it said on the tin.

Well, we had booked a one night stay ready to fly very early the following morning, on arrival checking in I was asked to pay £30 (just incase of breakages etc) THIS WAS NOT POINTED OUT AT TIME OF ME MAKING THE BOOKING ON THEIR WEBSITE, I did of course decline and was told they could then refuse to check us in, I budget to every penny ready for our holiday the following morning, so therefore was £30 down before we had even started, then was told of course if NO breakages etc this would go back onto my card, and of course NO breakages were made and room was checked and all ok and the payment put back onto my card the day of departure, but this only went back on 5 days later!!!!!!!! so they had kept that £30 I needed for my holiday all of that time, and in that time we was on our way back home. Breakfast POOR by the way, not much choice, terrible. But rooms were lovely, and very very clean:)
Just be warned to pay an extra £30 on arrival, this would be better if they just took your card details and then if a problem then take the charge, but should not be taken the moment your checking in especially at 10.30 at night with a 3 yr old in tow.
Would not recommend.

This is the worst HI Express I've stayed in. Normally I really like them. The detergents in the room or bedding were far too strong and made my skin really itchy and come out in a rash. There was no Air Con.

I found this hotel on the whole, comfortable and convenient. the taxi service to and from the hotel was very handy. £2.70 and £2.50 respectively and doesn't break the bank. I did think that the food choices were a bit limited to microwave meals?? and over priced too for what they were. considering you have a captive audience.

Reception staff were lovely - especially the tall barman who helped us during our times of stress.
However, the room's toliet had not been cleaned, there were no tea/coffee etc left for us, only empty cups. The bedside light would not go out (apparently it was reported as fixed the previous day!. When I moved it off ,my eyes, it fused our room and the one next door. Long story - but we both got moved to other rooms (bearing in mind I'd already unpacked and was in bed. On walking into the new room, I was surprised to find someone already occupying it - he was more shoked than me, seeing as I was fully dressed! The third room of the evening was the disabled room - which was fully functional, however by this time it was debatable whether I should go to bed seeing as my flight was very early in the morning
To summarise - Staff on duty - great but the standard of room cleaning/maintenance was very poor and not what I'd expect of Holiday Inn

Let's get the wrinkles out of the way...
Twice I had to go back to reception because my card stopped working in my room door...never easy, because other people are queuing, too. The cards need to be less flakey eg impacted by maybe iPads or mobiles.
The other thing is - well - bacon at breakfast time. Never provided in any HIExpress as far as I am aware...come on, team, bring the bacon back!
Otherwise - friendly service; clean and comfortable; good showers etc.
Despite the wrinkles - fully recommended.

We called to book a hotel and parking package and were surprised at the excellent value. We left our car and stayed overnight on return. Everything was easy and helpful. Transfers by local taxi very effective. Arriving at 1am off the flight the check in was smooth and friendly and we were asleep in warm comfy room within minutes. Very impressed and would stay again and again.

Overall very good hotel, the rooms are comfortable and excellent value. Only two (small) issues were that our flight arrived at midnight and it was a 20 to 25 minute walk to the hotel. The paath is well lit, but pretty empty. Also, check out time was 11:00, as we arrived so late, I would have preferred noon or 13:00.
