Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Facility, Sad Location The great recession seems to have taken its toll on the area immediately around this Motel. A big auto mart is closed. The field in front of the motel is overgrown and unkempt. The motel itself is fine. Good staff, comfortable beds and room. Internet was a little slow. Loved the hospitality of snacks, beer, wine in the afternoon. Nice touch. April 14, 2014

Its not that they had a lot of people to serve, it was that the food came out extremely slow. The workers keep apologising so I guess they may have had some kitchen problems. March 31, 2014

Only two recommendations: fitness center had no sanitizer wipes for cleaning fitness equipment. I think the showers may have been remodeled and no soap holders or any horizontal surfaces at all in shower to place your soap or shampoo on. Inconvenient. March 30, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Almost home away from home We stayed here for a total of five days while contractors were finishing the remodel of our new old house. A big shout out to the front desk staff. When I checked in I discovered that I had made reservations for two nights instead of the three nights I had planned. That was immediately corrected. On Tuesday I learned that the contractor would not be finished on Thursday. Front desk quickly extended my stay another day. Same thing happened the next day so a two night reservation became a five night stay. A few negatives: The shower curtain was badly torn and I think housekeeping should have noticed that and fixed it before I arrived. I told the front desk and a new shower curtain was on the tub when I returned Monday evening. The tub drain was poorly adjusted so it did not drain well and was not fixed during my stay. The dresser drawers did not close properly. Again I told the front desk but I did not note any attempt to fix the drawers. March 27, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Better than a similar HIE down the road and very nice staff This hotel is pretty new, but we noticed the attention to detail in cleanliness and maintenance (wet paint from touching up wear on the doors). All the staff were friendly and greeted us. There were more toiletry products in the bathroom than the HIE down I-5, and towels were replaced daily, another difference along with salt & pepper on each table in the breakfast room instead of paper packets on the breakfast self-serve line. WiFi and cable TV in the room was good and beds were very comfortable and fresh. Our side of the hotel overlooked the neighboring vineyard and a beautiful orange tree was in view from our room. The other side of the hotel overlooks the parking lot, so a request for the vineyard side might be worthwhile, though we didn't specify. A few evenings a week they provided a wine and beer tasting with chips, salsa, filled pretzel bites and raw veggies with dip. With cheese and crackers bought at Lodi's downtown specialty shops, we could skip skip dining out if we wanted. We would definitely stay there again. It's worth driving across Lodi from I-5. Hotel changed me $15.00 for my 10 year old grandchild and daughter to have breakfast the day we left Lodi and there was no food. I ask to have pancake batter, yogurt, cinnamon rolls and bacon. She brought 6 rolls out. so I paid $15.00 for my grandson to have a roll any my daughter to have a egg omelette. I will not be staying at the Lodi Holiday Inn again. January 2, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Staff and Management above and beyond what was expected I booked this hotel for my retired Mom and Dad traveling home from Oregon to Southern California. Typically we stay at the HIExpress in Elk Grove, however this time Mom was hoping to make extra time the first leg of the trip. I my adult kids have stayed here at the Lodi location before on their way home from Ca. so I knew it was another excellent HIExpress location by their feedback. The check in was seamless and the room was great. What really needs to be addressed is how the staff and manager went above and beyond to ensure my Dad's comfort while there. My Dad is disabled and needs a large chair to sit in for stability and comfort. I assumed the Lodi location would have the same furniture as the Elk Grove. When we realized it was different I phoned the front desk and the gal at the front desk (I wish I remembered her name) told me she would do all she could to get my Dad a chair to sit comfortably in. She spoke with the manager and they pulled a piece of lobby furniture to put into my parents room. I was incredibly pleased to here that my Dad was comfortable and safe and that this location would go through such additional effort to ensure that. I am grateful and such a fan of HIExpress hotels. I hold memberships with other hotel chains and HIExpress continues to take my business when traveling personally. November 18, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very good but be careful about check-in/out policies We very much appreciated the cleanliness and comfort of our room (very roomy) and feel the hotel is a good overall value. Unfortunately, when we arrived at 3:00 pm to check in we were told the room would not be available until after 5:00 because the previous guests had not yet checked out (check out is 11:00 a.m.). Bad part is we were traveling with my 80 year old mother who would have really enjoyed a rest in her room before leaving for our evening event. Pelase know that the front desk told us the hotel honors late check-outs even though it inconveniences the next guest. November 15, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Almost Great The room itself was clean and comfortable, but the hallway rugs were dirty and stained. I stayed on the second floor so I don't know what the rugs were like on the 3rd floor, but on my floor they were BAD. The first night they looked like they needed vacuuming, but there were lots of children staying at the hotel, so I thought maybe they had just left debri in the hallway. The next morning the hallways had been vacuumed, but then the stains showed up as obviously being very old stains and too numerous to have just occurred. It's a shame, because that gives a very bad impression of the upkeep of the cleaning on a regular basis and a deep clean once a month or so would be recommended. A friend who visited at the hotel and remarked at the filthy carpets was shocked to find the room clean. Also, the door from the outside to the stairway would not work with room key and since I prefer stairs over the elevator I had to enter the hotel and go around to the stairway door. That was a minor inconvenience and I did not report it. November 6, 2013

Finally made the manager's wine and beer reception; very relaxing, decent wine and munchies. Was nice to talk with other guests. For the price, this is a great bargain. November 4, 2013
